Perhaps i should have titled this "some elders have had mistress" Not all elders do this, but in the many years i have been in org, i have seen it often enough. It's flattery to the highest degree.Imagine having all the answers and being in a positon where your every word is golden. It is difficult not to take advantage of the situation. Amazing it does not happen as often as it does.

For what it's worth, it was me, that eventully ended the relationship .. I think it is probably harder now, with all the rules about not being alone and all with someone, but it still happpens.
I feel very bad for what happened to u, lyneyes.No one ever thinks the kids notice-but i know this elders kids did.It ended many years ago and has not ever resumed. I don't know what he does with his time now. I can guess though.

My husband was aware that was very attached tho this elder-but as the elder said he(my hubby)was not tking care of me properly and caring out his duties as head of household. Of course no one ever reported it. That is why i asked the question to begin with. I know this stuff must go on in cong. all over and no one ever says anything. The elder once asked me f i'd ever report this-i said no. Why should i give the jw another shot at me? b/c it would be me-not him that would pay. It is always the woman that pays. Remember, i did say nothing physical ever happened. That elder would not have given up his title for anything.

yes it is very common. I just wondered if anyone ever noticed. The elders usally can get away wijth it under the guise of helping them spiritually. the elder that i clung to for 20 yrs was only wantling my company., To think of the times he gazed in my eyes while quoting scriptures to me. we were all such hyocrites.

I think maybe unstable people may be drawn to jw. people who really think God will make it all better. I wish he would, but sad to say-that is probably a pipe dream. Also when unstable people are counseled , they tend to overreact. Sort of mentally beat themselfs. now jw encourge that anyway, so it is perfect for an unstable person. It also helps if u catch them when they are young- screw up their brains then and u have got them. also, notice how many people come into he truth during a crisis in their lives? A lot of things contribute to mental illnesss among jw. They will fierclely tell u that is wrong however. I remember when that first came out back in either late 80's or early 90's and boy did al the jw hate that.

THAT FAMILY THAT PISSED YOU OFF
by minimus inin every kingdom hall, there seems to be that one family that always irritates you.
in our hall there is this one family that thinks they have been blessed by jehovah himself because nearly all of the children became either bethelites, traveling overseers,or elders.their comments always have that tone which is condescending.
they always give their "wonderful experiences" of how they helped 2000 people in the "truth".

i personaly enjoyed the stroy about the family that had the window cleaner and spinster pioneer. My generation seems to have a lot of clenaing people in it-we all sorely regret not going to college-so i went after my kids got older. since i still have ties with cong. i know that most hav moved on t get better jobs. I'm in the 40-50 age group. lot of us out there that regret not going to college. never too late though.

Being in the org for a very long time i have seen people do all kinds of things . One thing that i have never really seen discussed is how common it is for an elder to have a mistress in the background. In the sense he and i talked almost every day and shared a lot of intimate things.He helped me spititaully and came to my rescue a lot. he even defended me at a JC meeting once. Much more than friends.The only reason we never had sex is because he made it clear he would keep his tiltle as elder "no matter what". So i know at elders go to great lengths to keep a title.
generally i could tell just by looking who was "chummy" with who by watching them at meeting and seeing who was gazing at who. Also, it gave itsel away at parties. Usually these were woman without a husband and the elder was "helping" her. Or in some cases helping himsef to her.

In Memory of a diff.kind of Silentlamb -Pics
by LyinEyes inmost of you know about my mother, she passed away from this world 17 yrs ago tomorrow, sept. 15, 1985. her passing was very hard on my sister and me , because it was a suicide.
she had been a witness for 16 years and even almost died standing up for the blood issue in 1983, due to a stomach ulcer, and too many asprins.
her blood count went down to 2 and she had to be put in a lear jet to get to houston, tx.

i am of your mothers generation. there was a lot of abuse going on then i am so sorry for your mother that she cannot be her to see what a strong young woman u are. She must have been very loving . Your post really touched me because it shows how a family feels after a suicide.
wheree are the rest of your family and what abut your father?
