Namasti ,
are you trying to refute my basic statement reflected in the main topic? try agaiin
there are many thing i dont regret about jw
learning from jw about cristmas is one of them
the jw were very open about cristmas, going against the "system" require some strenght and that in itself attracted many to the jw org.
i've just read an intersting article on the flood to do with dates and whether is was truly global or a regional flood.. http://www.commentarypress.com/essay-flood.html.
my father used to be an elder for many years and the flood was one of the things that made him walk away not just from the jw but also belief in the bible.
he was hung up on issues like the flood taking place about 3500 bc and how that fit in with the pyramids.. i don't know much about egyptian history or the ages of the big pyramids, but his reasoning was if the flood wiped out every human on earth except noah etc then at 3500 bc there were only 8 people on earth.
In the face of such frustration, not everyone can maintain calm objectivity. I certainly can't always do it, but I try.
I understand the above statement 100%
was just out at church and came home picked up my bible and read some thing.
it really jumped out at me so i thought i would share it ... it never made sense to me before it was always very confusing.
if it confuses you wait for the explination because i feel it may let you see what i saw in it.
I suppose you didn't know you opened not only Philippians 2 but a can of worms with it.
Can you prove who wrote "phillippians" when and why?
i always wanted to re-read the bible after i left the org; to be able to read it without having to feel like i had to apply something, or to have to read it out of obedience, etc.... well, i have always liked the new world translation, i know it isn't perfect, but i think it is better than some.
but i have always wanted to get a different modern english translation, and read that.
well, i finally picked up a new international version at wal-mart the other day...under $6, what a bargain.. started last night, and finished genesis today, and am just starting into exodous.
Most antagonic jerks in this forum most likely did not ever read the whole bible, and never did after leaviing. BUT now some are dogmatic and want to be heard... It is like calling more or less "the pot calling the kettle blackt" ..
we started to "bud" in our blouses at 9 or 10 years .
old only to find that anything that came in contact .
with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it .
Can we please stick to the topic.
One, I don't really care about your relationships, or lack there of. That isn't the topic here. If you want to talk about your personal life, make your own thread abput it. Thanks.
probably other girls may want to know, you are not the only one here,
besides my comments were provoked, a women (eve) in ths forum made me do it. She went on a tangent and i (being the weak sex) could not resist.
It looks like you are having a hard enough time being a man.
how do you know?
do you want to to do a reality check and try? physically and intellectually, you choose the first part
i remember when i first googled "jehovah's witnesses".
i was sick to my stomach because i feared that i was disobeying jehovah.
although i was scared that i would find something "apostate" or "demonic", i still continued to click on different links.
LOL, i need to read this thread again sometime... and relate it to cults, fear, mind control etc
How could we be so stupid...
1995, no google yet, and as most here scare to death.

A Cristian,
That our earth has never been completely covered with water
yeah i noticed that comment from you, but since some agnostic non cristian here also beleive that, i could not find why you and them are "fighting"

right....With your attitude, I am sure all the ladies just flock to you...
Not really, just the ones with the right attitude. Only those girls who do not get offended easily, can think for thelmselves, dont mind asking or accepting a real solution AND distinguish a jerk from a real man. Besides "attitude" in cyberspace is different when you play reality, actually i can not see you smiling... and i never use a video camera in cyberspace.

Green,
Are you asking why I believe the transmitters of the flood account thought it was a global one? Or are you asking why I believe the Bible in general?
NOw i would say both, but my initial question was sticking to the topic only.

I went back on this thread to find what A cristian is trying to prove but I am tired and could not find it.
I did find interesting the following comment, assuming it is true.
Tribes and cities that were destroyed in the flood reappear uninterrupted a few pages later"?
As A Cristian suggest It also seem like besides Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel there were some more people living around, who were they? Nod... (male?, most likely) was one of them. Genesis does not even mention who "married" Cain, but i think it does menion all male children from Adam.
14 Behold, thou hast driven me this day away from the ground; and from thy face I shall be hidden; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will slay me." 15 Then the LORD said to him, "Not so! If any one slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who came upon him should kill him
Genesis 4:16 - Then Cain went away from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
