Just talking to the MRS. I am always signing Confidentiality agreements and non-competes for business. I never signed one as a JW elder. What if the internet availability of internal info is causing them a loss of big $$ ? People like atlantis and elder Elite are a NIGHTMARE for WTBTS legal. Elders who maintain and track files of criminals and coorespondence to WATCHTOWER (like me) are a huge liability.

Having ALL the elders turning in old flock books and get NEW books with a signed non-disclosure agreement under supervision would be common US business practice.

Anyone refusing to sign could be removed on the spot.

3rd Gen believes it is dropping Blood and an agreement. no signy- no booky- removed.

Recording Judicial Committee meetings........and having fun!

the 'flock' book (elders manual) makes this quite clear and upon arriving at your judicial hearing one of the first questions you will be asked is whether you have any recording/transmitting equipment with you.. however, most jw's will have never seen - or even heard of - the 'flock' book.

do a search on the wt cd on recording meetings and you will see that it all pertains to the recording of meetings at the kingdom hall and conventions and that any brother wishing to make such recordings is free to do so so long as the recording equipment is not attached to the society's equipment.

the one question of propriety that is raised has to do with recording prayers.

What is already bringing in hard cold cash but causing rebellion? Sales of Assembly halls and Kingdom Halls..........???

What if 1/3 of the halls around the world were combined and lots more halls were sold? Elders might not get along, publishers may have left the old halls in a huff years ago. People would need to travel further. It would bring in A LOT of $$, but they have already had mini rebellions over this.

If they can free up some $$ and get it to work offshore in the old hedgefund they are probably hoping to survive this lawsuit cash crunch.

Realestate is WAY TOO EASY to lien and grab.

I heard a rumor of past payroll, workers compensation, SSI, and Medicare taxes becomming a possible problem as well.

How to Record a Judicial Meeting

Consider one of the new high quality 6-12 hr digital voice activated recorders that work with Dragon software. Olympus makes great thin business recorders that have detachable mikes that can be thread up the spine of a bound volume and left in the hall library for days before a "hearing" ( they also have a detachable telephone mic). A small piece of 2 piece adhesive velcro on the recorder will allow it to be placed under a chair in the library hours (day) before needed, and simply pulled off afterwards. The Dragon Naturaly Speaking software will transcribe the majority of the "hearing" and save a lot of typing.

In any meeting or (job interview) the best stuff is always said after you leave the room "to use the bathroom", or when you come back "because you forgot something".

The best policy is to treat people in such a way that a recording would make no difference in what you have to say.

I had a friend do this during a nasty divorce- he should have wiped it clean and not put his initials on it however......

Do Elders Have A Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy During Judicial Committees?

i should point out that i'm not a lawyer and i'm not qualified to give legal advice.. there has been much discussion about judicial committees lately and how to handle and possibly record them.. naturally, the question of the legality of recording judicial committees is a concern.

my understanding of the law in the u.s. is that it is legal to record private conversations in most states provided at least one party consents to the recording.

in the other states, it is required to get the consent of all parties to record a private conversation.. however, it would be reasonable to ask whether or not a judicial committee is a private conversation and whether the elders have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

What is costing them the most money, that if they suddenly stopped..... would cause a rift ?

Calling the police on Child molesters would save money, be appauded and require only a letter. No longer re-appointing child molesters..ditto. Obeying other laws..elders call legal on EVERY major case anyway, so those things could change in one hour.

Field service changes...everyone hates it anyway. Just an announcement in the KM.

At ELDERS school they LOVE to have YOU write notes in the margin of the FLOCK BOOK so THEY didn't "put it in print". Since the NEW Flock book is already on the WEB in PDF and can be used against them in court. Child custody issues. Blood issues. Something they don't want on the net in PRINT.

What could hang them if in print ...in court...and cause a rift amoung the dubs........ hummmmmm?????

Do You Ever Look Back? Should We?

i'm a bit unusual here, never was a jw, don't suffer from the ex- or leaving jw stuff, but i surely can sympathise with those who do.. .

tomorrow ( 2 august) my divorce decree absolute is issued, disolving the marriage with my filipina princess.

i'm not sad about that, per se, it will be good to get the whole sorry episode over and done with.

Do something FUN!! Get some of your old buds together for a pub crawl. COPs can drink most people under the table so celebrate!

On the news last night I understand a pile of tickets will be released for empty seats at the Olympics! THAT would be fun. If not, you have clearances, why not get a short security gig for the remainder of the show in London?

it is overdue.

i have been reading comments on jvn, huffington, san jose mercury, nbc, and other sources.

It has been about a month. Has anyone heard more comments on the Conti trial?

I have gotten more FB friend requests and phone calls from active and ex-JWs. The combination of the lawsuit WITH calls for give us more money $$ seems to have lead a number of active JWs to TELL ME to look at some ex-jw webstes (LOL ROF). I am getting questions about old Bethel stories about Knorr, Franzes etc. (Is it true? )

What about others?

did you know that from 1879 until 1954 the writings of c.t.russell, j.f.rutherford, nathan knorr and the watchtower's own charter all agreed that jesus christ was worthy of worship?.

Thanks for the research Terry. I always had a bad feeling in my gut because of JWs strong negative reaction to the simple label of "Christian".

Reading Barbra Andersons expose' of Freddys education on her site, made me sick to my gut a few years ago when I was finding out the truth about the truth. I was brought up being told Freddy was a "Rhoads Scholar"- even heard that at Bethel. Freddy never corrected anyone.

He never even finished an AA degree!

For years I have had to mumble the name of where I went to night school..embarrased of my K-Mart education..that I had to sneak in as a JW.. Hell I should have just made up something like Freddy did.

Seemed to be a nice hard working kid in the 70s. Waiter. Nothing Wacky about dad in comparison to some of the other GB I remembered. (No one complained within earshot of Judah- just to be safe)
