  The problem with God.

  god waits until we are genuinely ready to face hard facts before he opens our minds to just how equally wrong, aberrant and dysfunctional we all are.

  mostly we humans are only ready at the lowest point in our lives - often our deathbed.

  hence all the suffering we ignorantly cause others and ourselves in the meantime.. this is the reason why (watchtower) religionists can read rom 3:22-23 without waking up to themselves and getting it: "for there is no distinction.

  "Sin" is a manmade concept created to control the masses. Sin leads to guilt. Guilt is a powerful tool used to lead people down a particular path.

  According to the fairytale, we are all born into sin thanks to dear old great-grandpa Adam. Because of this we are all deserving of death at conception. There is nothing we can do to prevent this on our own.

  Thankfully (sarcasm) dear old YHWH sent his own son to die for us miserable, good-for-nothing sinners. All you have to do is follow his commandments as prescribe in this book written by men and you'll be a-ok. If you don't, well then to hell with you!

  Not only is sin ridiculous, but so is the concept of an entire species being doomed by the actions of one man. That is like locking up people in prison because their great-grandfather was a convicted felon and for no other reason.

  As a conservative republican, I cannot stand Rick Santorum. People are concerned about the economy first and foremost. Santorum falls for the bait and switch on contraception.

  In addition, I abhor the fact that a portion of Republicans act like we live in a Theocracy. Religion has no place in the American government.

  How Will the Society React to the Hundred Year Anniversary of 1914?

  it's only a couple of years away now and what a headache it must present to the gb - providing they have given it much thought already.

  there probably is no elegant way of presenting the hundred year long failure of the end to come; the fact that the "short period of time" of satan being cast down to the earth has now stretched beyond any credibility.

  but they have to deal with it one way or another.

  I don't think there will be any special attention drawn to the fact that 1/10 of Christ's reign is over all we have nothing to thank Jesus for other than he imprisioned Satan and his demons on earth.

  Which is Worse?

  i am curious to see how different people answer this question.

  i dont think there is a right or wrong answer per se, just an answer that is more right to each person.

  is it worse to let a guilty person go free, or to lock up an innocent person?

  Even if a guilty person is set free, remember this: You can beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride.

  If they are truly guilty they will do it again and the second time around they won't be so lucky.

  Eastern comes from the Norse holiday dedicated to the god Ostara. It was celebrated much like it is, today. So, have fun with your children. Decorate some eggs and go on an Easter Egg hunt. Hail Odin Allfather!

  The Governing Body Paradox

  The Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society publishes in its writings, as of late, that the Governing Body/Faithful & Discreet Slave must be obeyed to gain Jehovah's salvation and favor. The GB/FDS are comprised of imperfect, spirit guided men whose teachings are to be accepted as truth. Incorrect teachings (i.e. past teachings/flip-flops/unfulfilled prophecies) were correct at the time they were published. However, "new light" has changed them.

  With all the above being taken into consideration, what should a Christian Witness of Jehovah do is the GB/FDS publishes a belief or teaching that is undeniably in opposition to Jehovah? If you accept it you oppose Jehovah. If you do not accept it, you are rejecting theocratic order and the GB/FDS, which means you reject Jehovah, as well.

  It reminds me of the Irresistible Force Paradox: What happens when an unstoppable force collides with an immovable object? In order for one to exist the other cannot or the latter will be destroyed, which would generate an infinite amount of heat that would destroy everything.

  So, getting back to my paradoxial question; has such an event already taken place and, if not, how would you surmise the rank and file of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses would react.

  Are you an athiest and why?

  i'm interested in finding out people's reasons as to why they are athiest.. i have simply through life experience, my research into religions over the years come to that conclusion.

  never thought i would come to a day that i did not believe in a god.

  believing in a god is like believing in super man, it would be great if he existed but well it's just a fairy tale.

  I think that only the Islam-Judeo-Christian religions are hellbound on convincing everyone that life, the universe, and everything was created by an almighty being. This all stems from the belief that their holy writings are true. Science proves otherwise.

  The flood account of Noah is physically impossible as is the chronology of man as depicted by the Bible. That is the loose thread that starts to unravel the whole garmet.

  Religion is mainly an emotional experience. It is the crutch that so many use to help them cope with life. The real issue is believing there is something wrong with your legs. This comes from the human myth known as "imperfection". Man is no more imperfect than nature. Nature never "sinned" against a god. Nature lives and nature dies in a cycle that repeats. If an animal grows old, gets sick and dies was it because it was imperfect?

  I have been inactive since December 2005. I recall attending a one-day Special Assembly and seeing just how controlling the organization is and how most went along with out question. I believe it was at the noon break. We were just told by the chairman that we were not allowed to eat in the auditorium and needed to move to the dining room. Everyone marched in unison to the dining room. It reminded me of the scene in H.G. Wells "Time Machine" when the air raid sirens started up and all the people started heading towards the underground entrance like they were in a trance.

  It was about year ago when I first came to this website. I recall my father, who is a true believer, called me to tell me that I needed to get back in because the organization was going to close it's doors to outsiders, soon. So, I came here looking for info on last year's District Convention as I felt he was referring to something said on the program.

  After about an hour of going through various threads I was certain that Jehovah's Witnesses have been a scam since the days of Rutherford.

  I believe if there were really was a man who lived that is now called "Jesus" (Joshua would be a more accurate translation) as described in the Bible he would love me. Even non-christians recognize the wisedom and love displayed by the man we call "Jesus".

  If a diety whom has been dubbed "Jesus" does exist I would have to imagine that other dieties do, as well. There is no more evidence to suggest that a Yahweh or Jesus is real than there is Zeus, Odin, or any other god that is or was worshipped.

  We can thank Emperor Constatine for spreading Christianity to non-christians. This was usually done at spear or sword point. Most christians believe Christianity is the true religion because that is how they were raised.

  I worked as a correctional officer in a county jail for 7 years. I've seen everything from a 12 inch strap on dildo to narcotics to weapons make it past the booking area into the inmate housing areas because officers were not allowed to strip search pre-sentenced inmates. Strips searches are normally performed on arrestees who are not bonding out and are being processed for housing in population.
