200 Churches this week! Waiting for fallout....
by biblexaminer inthis week, 200 area churches received the cci mailout.
that's about 65% of all churches here.
if all good people go to church on sunday, and the good pastor does his part, then 50,000 people will be informed from community conscious international.. i hope others did likewise.

2/3 of all JW's are women and what it implies
by Mindchild ina few weeks back, kinsman posted a link about a recent survey of religion in america which showed that 68% of all jehovah's witnesses were female, which is the highest ratio of women to men in any religion in the usa.. i believe the reason for this unbalance in adherents in favor of women comes down to two fundamental reasons.
the first is shunning and the second is the appeal of the "family type atmosphere" that the witnesses pretend to offer.. we all know the power of shunning keeps a lot of people trapped inside the collective, and just due to the fact that women are enculturated more with having emotional bonds with others, makes it a bit tougher to leave family and friends behind.
this doesn't mean that men don't suffer emotionally, but the general trend is more for men to suppress their feelings and damn the emotional torpedoes and go full speed ahead out of the bad dream.. this suggests to me, that if there is a major modification of the shunning policy, the largest exodus will be in the female ranks.

I agree with Simon. I see the husbands quitting and the wifes sticking it out for some reason. Fear and social ties I think.

FARTING at the meetings
by gambler ini'm sure you all have some good comical stories of pple farting during prayer or other quiet times during meeting.
as a personal experience of mine, the night before i had eaten a frozen pizza, doritos, and some old chocolate milk.
this combination produced the worst smelling brew i have ever had.

Apostate overseers visit
by sleepy inhello i've been sent from botchtower headquaters to see how the flock of apostate are digressing spiritualy.. as we all know it is important to be inactive in the service and meetings and i see that many of you are doing well.. it can be hard though , sometimes when we come home from work tiered it is all too easy to get washed and changed and to rush of to a meeting without stoping to eat.. but without trust in the holyspirit you can become stong and my be able to get into the habit of watching tv or maybe even going to the pub.. even if you can do a little tv watching a day instead of reading the watchtower and awake it will help.. in order to combat the desires of the spirit we must replace them with more apostate things.i notice that some of you have not been active on the internet recently.. this is not good for your progress.. on my next visit i would like to see more non attendance at meetings less studying and more engagment in materialistic pursuits.. oh and some of you have been reporting your hours, please consider the relevent material as whether this is unscriptual or not.. with warm love and apostate greetings ,.

HOLIDAYS IN GENERAL AND THANKSGIVING IN PARTICULAR
by drahcir yarrum inlooking back on it now, after over twenty years as an "apostate", the wts position on holidays is amusing if nothing else.
the organization has convinced it's followers that only one day of special observance is sanctioned by "jehovah".
that is the memorial celebration.

DY- Yea- I have to agree. I think the real reason they nixed TGiving was to keep you away from "worldly relatives" and promote group solidarity. Its a crime when you think about it. It pisses me off to think of all the TGivings I missed with my "worldy" cousins.

I happen to know that my own mother, considered aborting me. She was 19 and unmarried and came from a crappy family.
She never told me about it I found out about it from someone else.
To be honest I really dont feel any gratitude for her decision.
As it turned out, she did a shitty job of raising me(in my opinion) I grew up a JW.
I always felt a little resentment from her as if she wasnt ready to raise kids or be a good mother. I think the best overall choice would have been adoption to a family that really wanted kids but could not have any.
I have never met my bio-dad. My mom gave me a name about a year ago. Do you think he would want me to look him up? I dont think he would but I havnt decided.
The wierd thing is, even though at 28 I just found out about this, I always had a gut feeling that somthing wasnt right. I even brought it up with my mother as a kid and she just brushed it off .
