i've been reading the book, " the kingdom of the cults " by walter martin.

he's a " christian " so being an atheist/agnostic i've had to wade through some of the more subjective christian comments and observations he makes on things.

but he does see through the bs of cults in predicting the last days.

my wife tells me she called the presiding overseer to set up a time for all of us to talk about our premarital no-no's.. "really?

I just don't think I could come home after a day at work and have a homemaker wifey who spends my money flat out tell me that she went behind my back and spoke to the PO about something so rediculous and in the past. I would be furious, and ask her if she would like to move in with them and have THEM work and provide for her? She'd be sure to get the picture that her ass would be out on the doorstep wondering what the hell happened if she crossed me again.

I'm with you there WC. If my wife had tried anything like that with me, the only thing that would've beat her out the door to the curb is all her bullshit WT publications.

It'll take her awhile to digest the change you've given her. Give her time. In the meantime, shower her with love and reassurance that your'e not going to become a worldly satan worshipping sex crazed lunatic and be ready to tell the elders and any others who ask that the issues are you and her business alone and will not be discussed.

X-Witnesses and Faders - have you had a help them return visit yet?

with the watchtower study about helping 'lost sheep' return, i have been half expecting a visit.

i have mentally rehearsed how i should handle the situation, which is fairly tricky as i still have family in.

but no call yet.

the weekend before the article was to be studied, my wife was studying the article in bed. I could tell that something was bothering her and as I''d seen her with all her "publications" out, I had an inkling of what it was.

Tired, sitting in bed, coming down off a very tough day at work, she just blurts out, "Why don't you want to go to meetings anymore....just what is it?"

And just as succinctly, tired, I blurt out, in so many words, "I just don't believe any of it anymore!"

Yep.......went right over there and kicked the shit out of that 300 pound gorilla in the room!!!!

Boy, was she furious at me for the next couple of days. But she finally came off her anger enough to talk to me a few days later where I reiterated to her that I wasn't looking for anyone else out there, that i was committed to our marriage, and that I would continue to take care of her and respect and support her activities, so long as they are kept in perspective.

Since then, we've been able to talk more openly then I would've believe possible had I not kicked that gorilla. I've told her the reasons why I don't believe, she understood and reiterated to me why she believes and since then, we've respected each others stand.

I wish I could muster up the boldness to do that. I have so much at stake - I was seconds away from doing it the other day - miliseconds!

I love my wife dearly.....more than I think any of you will ever know.

but, I'd worked a ton of hours over two days, I was tired, and I'd told her and a couple of elders that there was a time to talk, I didn't want to talk, I'd continue to fully support her activities, and that I just wanted to be left alone about what they perceived would be my declining spiritual condition.

JUST LEAVE ME ALONE !!!!!!! I dont't want to go to any more meetings!!!!

But, as usual, under coercion from another WT article, she just started up on me again......and off went the bandaid.

Well....I guess this was the WT my wife was studying yesterday as she decided that she'd ratchet up the pressure on me to return to meetings.

I finally had to rip off the bandaid. I told her I just don't believe in any of it anymore.

From there, she stopped speaking to me and was storming about the house.

We'll see what today brings. I just refuse to live my life with a constant cloud of fear hanging over my head, and guilt that if I'm not doing "just so JW style", then something is obviously wrong with me!
