  the stories that somehow show the witnesses or their teachings in a good light but always seem to contain elements that would seem preposterous to most people.

  Chuck D ...I know what you mean. And after learning more about the borg itself and mind control in general since finding this site, my BS detector also has that hair trigger setting.

  I was recently helping my wife with something and I realized how much the WTS indoctrinating has crippled her thinking. When she talks about the WTS she constantly repeates the same old dribble that they all do with such arrogance air it's almost laughable. Any talk of the WTS had better be positive or you're quickly accused of nitpicking or splitting hairs; both of which the borg does in grand style. But when I was helping her with this "task" which I'd helped her do over and over again a day before, it was is I was with a child leading her the whole way. I knew she knew what she was doing, but she didn't have the confidence to do it without looking to me for answers every step of the way. Such as it is with JW's. They spend their whole life being lead around by the nose from the "ole men in Brooklyn" where every decision is strained through the congregation elders and what's best for the congregation, losing any ability to think for themselves.

  Working in the computer field my first question would be in the course of "diagnosing" your computer problem, why would she have to peruse your favorites file at all, other than to be nosy?

  And if she reportedly said that "JW are brainwashers" and that was her attitude, why would she care at all if you were going to a real JW site. Sounds to me like although she may be ExJW, or inactive, she's still living by the brainwashed Nazi JW mentality. I think it's entirely up to you depending on what state you're in as far as the WTS goes. If you're trying to do the slow fade and keep friendships going, then you'd probably better watch your back. If you're like at the point where you don't give a f*** about playing by any of their rules you could gently approach her with some of the crap that goes on in the WTS and guage her response. If she get's all huffy and defensive then you'll know that although her body is out, they still have her mind.

  Victory...the reward for patience!

  many years ago when i first came upon boards like this i wanted to know how to cope with my new status as an exjw.. in particular i was concerned with how to handle my still devout jw wife and three children.. i was given a lot of advice some potentially harmful, like leave your wife but many recommended patience.. that was ten years ago.

  over the next decade i allowed my wife to take our children to all the meetings and inculcate them however she wished.

  i knew it was a risk but i did not want to appear to be the stereotypical opposing mate and reinforce jw propaganda.. my plan was this:.

  The reward for patience is sweet.

  When I walked away my son, then was heavily indoctrinated, Wanted to go to Bethel, the patterson farms, the whole nine. I only had to wait till he was in middle school for him to see what other JW kids were really like, you know, the double life they lead and how mind numbing it is being a JW. I took steps and made decisions to ensure that he had the freedom to express his views, think for himself, and not be under total control of the JW wife and in-laws and by the time he was in high school, I knew by the choices he was making that their hold on him was no more. He is now halfway through college and on his way to a "real life"; not a life floundering around at the whims of a few old geezers in Brooklyn.

  While my wife still claims to be a JW she hardly ever goes to the meetings anymore. I'm slowly building up her self confidence enough that she'll be more inclined to think and make decisions for herself and question some of the JW doctrines and how they always seem to change when their prophecies fail time and time again and not strain every decision about what she want to do through a WT publication or what someone in the congregation will think.

  My partial victory is sweet, though I'm still shooting for a total one.

  It's much easier for them to vilify and threaten DF to keep the matter quiet than to bring shame upon Jehovah's Organization.

  This read just keeps getting better and better.....

  I know an ex-elder who was forcibly removed for reasons that I cannot reveal here just yet. Although he still believes , he sticks it to the person primarily responsible every chance he gets. This just drives home the point to me that it's more a position of power and prestige rather than spiritual oversight.

  i thought it might be a good idea to find out at what age or after how long we descided to leave the watchtower.. prehaps we my find a patern in it which we could use .. i think what we need to know are ,.

  Well I can say that I was always by nature skeptical of anything about religion anyway. I got that way from being forced as a kid to go to church. Watching preachers preach about being humble before God while driving the biggest and best luxury cars at the congregations expense, having their pick of the women in the congregation. It all even then seemed to be much like a show.

  Fast forward to the Kingdum Hall. After the lusture of the new order always being just around the corner wearing off, the explosion of the internet after near total isolation to anything but their literature about the JW organization, and always constantly being chided with the implication that what you were doing for the WT was always just short of enough and that you could always possibly do more....I finally figured I'd had enough!!!!!

  Isn't it funny how anything they don't understand or anything that questions the WTS in any way is promptly labeled demonized. Anything that hints at being critical of the GB and WTS is labeled demon inspired. I remember this same hysteria with the procter and Gamble logo, cabbage patch dolls, smurfs, .....the list goes on and on.

  The only thing deemed safe by them to look or listen to more than a few seconds is the WT literature. Oh, and that mechanized garbage they all spout out to each other.

  if you were able to get this url during the short time you were snooping on my computer last night then you have probably by now read a lot of my most personal feelings about my life growing up as a jw.. much of it is very shocking to you and will be even more so to mom if you tell her (which i wish you wouldnt!).

  i'm hoping that after you calm down you will let this alone and do nothing with the knowledge about me that you have.

  i know that you have no interest in hearing the truth about what goes on in the organization so i wont even tell you to look it up yourself.. i dont go around trying to convert jw's and i havent tried to tell you any of this stuff so i think the best thing for jaden at the moment would be if you just left me alone.

  Unfortunate...yes. But, was this "sister out of line".....HELL YESS!!! If she weren't snooping around then she'd have absolutely nothing to bitch about. If she was currently shunning you, then what reason would she have to be on your computer anyway other than to dig up dirt she can use on you. Hopefully she'll mind her own business but it's more likely that this sister will go to mom and further to the elders and get her merit badge for her support in "keeping the congregation clean" and they'll simply ignore the means by which she got that information in the first place. JW's have a knack for justifying anything they want to do for whatever reason as long as it appears that it's in the interest of the congregation or the organization.
