  Why do they return?

  there are some jw's who will leave the watchtower orginization for years and then suddenly show back up at the kh often saying they have regrets of leaving and are often heard to say.. "there is nothing out there.".

  as i contemplate my official exit from the borg, this question keeps coming up.... what is it that makes these people return to the borg after leaving for years?.

  I've got the impression the JWs are so comfortable being led around by their nose by the WTBTS, that anything that disrupts this programming is slanted as being evil. Anything that smacks of being independently concieved is a threat to their comfortable knowledge that all their questions can be answered in time by the FDS and not by running ahead. Just wait on Jehovah, they say, but never how long. HOw long should you wait: till you've used up your whole life peddling magazines for a publishing company till you're old and grey or until they get around to finding something to DF you for?

  It's my perception that most of the young people out there are only going to the meetings because it's what their parents require them to do. What's their option, getting kicked to the curb or the loaded guilt trip of bringing shame to the organization or ones family.

  do wives just tag along?.

  i'm sure this applies to husbands and children too, but i feel mostly women.. in the congregation there were often brothers viewed as strong , in postions of responsability such as min's and elders.usually in my experience the wives were no where near as "spiritual".. in fact it often seamed as though there "service" was based on their husbands.. i've seen this in men to but not as much.. now the proof of this is in whether a large number of spouces leave the truth without much persuading needed by their more forthright wives or husbands.. heres an example.. mine.. my wife has never read an apostate book and doesn't look on the internet, but as soon as i stoped going to the hall so did she.. another contrary experience is of a prominant elder in france who was well known and gave talks on the district assemblies.as soon as his wife died he left the truth as he was only going to please her.. whats your experience been.. (please don't get mad at me ladies i'm only talking about what i've seen)

  ***NIGHTMARES***

  when i was a dub growing up, i remember the nightmares..... repeated, and frequent.... the terrible feeling of dreaming that "armageddon" had come, and that destruction was happening all around me.. when i woke up, i would lie perfectly still, and do nothing.

  not even a muscle twitch, and just "listen" for a familiar sound, to tell me i was indeed still alive, and still on the planet.. and the fear those dreams put in me, i can still remember 25-30 years later.. how many of you, growing up in, or even coming in as adults had a similar experience?.

  I remember when my wife first started studying, this after a long absence of growing up "around" the truth but not making it her "own". As time went by more and more things in the house became channels that allowed demons in and had to be gotten rid of. My collection of vampire books that she bought...gone. "R' rated movies..gone. Smurfs...gone. Cabbage patch dolls and anything that had the Proctor and Gamble Logo with the crescent moon and 13 stars.......gone. All of these things she claimes gave her nightmares all of a sudden. The absurdity of the logic behind how she justified these decisions never ended.

  In time she realized that it wasn't her conscious she was acting on, but the two pioneer sisters she was studying with. When she says things like "such and such a thing will never be allowed in my house because the WT warns against it" I remind her that this is my house too and if I want it I will have it till such time as the WT starts paying the bills around here. It's all about control.....

  the april 1st issue of the watchtower invites those who have some 'serious concealed sin' to report to the "loving christian elders".. it reminds the r&f that they (the elders) "will not treat lightly your desire to experience the restoration of a good relationship with your heavenly father".

  oh yeah?

  we all know that this is code for a judicial committee.

  Well...hopefully they'll stay together for a long time without the loving christian elder police and the nosy pioneer publishing servant flock looking over their shoulder questioning every decision they make as to whether or not it will "stumble" someone.

  Last Magazine Arrived Today

  after i got home from work i looked in my mailbox and lo and behold what do i find.......the very last magazine from the now discontinued subscription of the awake and wt.

  no more will these magazines stack up on our kitchen table unread by my wife who claims to believe but almost never go to meetings.

  no more will these magazines stack up on the bottom of the bookcase in our study.

  I'm holding out hope for those boxes of magazines she's collected over the years. When she finally comes to her senses, I hope to watch the fire flicker in her eyes as we burn them in our fireplace...together.

  Oh yeah-right !!! And it took the 10 years to figure it out? Once again, they're making excuses for their duplicity by blaming others, specifically a low ranking member of their flock. Isn't this just a rehash of some of the same excuses for the 1975 fiasco? I just wonder what would've happened to a R/F member if they had a UN library card doing their own research and the GB or BOE found out about it.

  After I got home from work I looked in my mailbox and lo and behold what do I find.......the very last magazine from the now discontinued subscription of the Awake and WT. NO more will these magazines stack up on our kitchen table unread by my wife who claims to believe but almost never go to meetings. No more will these magazines stack up on the bottom of the bookcase in our study. No more will I have to box up these magazines that my wife refuses to throw away for some WT induced guilt trip reason that even she can't explain.

  She hasn't been to a meeting in awhile now and she says it's because she's lonely there with no one to talk to since I wont go with her. Lonely in a place that profess to have so much love for one another? She fails to realize that she's been marked by that congregation as bad association since she's not regular in either meetings or field service. And I'm not falling for the guilt trip again. That's how I was suckered into being a JW in the beginning. I refuse to let anyone, especially any religious organization quasi or otherwise, have that much control over my life...ever again. I lost about three valuable years of my life to that nonsense before I realized that they were full of crap.

  I wish that she'd just admit to herself that the pipedream perpetrated by the WTBTS of living in paradise soon, always soon, always just around the corner, if only you'd place that one extra magazine, or spent that extra hour in field service, has lost it's luster even for her. It breaks my heart to see her struggling with her conscience with even the most mundane decisions she have to make, always torn between what she really wants to do and what the Society would have her do.

  But I'll gently and patiently keep trying to free her mind......cause I do love her.......

  Anything that doesn't come from the slave is potentially Apostate...

  What they want is for you to be in the Hall so they can post that yearly increase they seem to be so proud of announcing at they're district conventions......

  'Apostate' or something better???

  dear all,.

  i desperately feel that the grand title of apostate applies no more to ex jws than it does to the whole of active jws.. therefore, i am asking for some sort of alternative title for the wonderful people who post on here.

  the word apostate strikes fear in the average dub.

  What's so horrid about that word? The only thing horrific about it is the JW definition of it and how it is used by them to strike fear in the R/F. "Don't talk to apostates, keep away fron apostate material... no independent thinking, you can't discern understanding fron the Bible alone, you need our magazines and books for true understanding, don't run ahead of the organization, food at PROPER TIME, field service and meeting attendance.......man made rules all designed to isolate you and keep you away from information that may keep you from going out peddling their books and tracts." Them running door to door with those magazines are apostasy in itself. I feel and have told JWs that if they truly felt they had the truth, that the GB and slave would have no problem with the R/F critically thinking and using they're own researched material to prove or disprove their doctrines. They're real agenda is filling up the bottom to support the hypocritical and corrupt pyramid structure at the top, no different from Amway or Primerica.

  The real definition of Apostate found at dictionary.com is below.

  apostate

  \A*pos"tate\, n. [L. apostata, Gr. ?, fr. ?. See Apostasy.] 1. One who has forsaken the faith, principles, or party, to which he before adhered; esp., one who has forsaken his religion for another; a pervert; a renegade.

  Nowhere in that definition does it state that one has to have forsaken the WT version of the truth, the WT organization, or Jehovah/Yahweh/God. What is says is that one has to have forsaken their ORIGINAL faith, principles, party, or religion for another. If they used the real definition of the word, instead of the self serving one handed down to them by the GB and the slave then by definition, all of the converted witnesses themselves are apostates. But of course they have their own "pure Language" that disputes these facts.

  If any of the labels JW's use to "mark" people strike fear in your heart, or gives you the feeling that you're stigmatized, hopefully by now they don't, then I submit that on some subconscious level, you're probably still enslaved in some way to the mind control that is the WT.

  my future brother in law (futurebro) is a great guy, as ive mentioned.

  he really cares about people, doesnt want to hurt anyones feelings.

  yet, now he was trapped between doing the right thing, and possibly losing his parents.

  Great Story.

  Hopefully I'l have as much luck with my family. Anytime anything anti-JW comes up, their brains and higher reasoning shut down.
