it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.
WELL.....my wife just notified me that she'll be playing the April pioneer game as well.
I've already warned her that I'm not going to be one of those husbands who stay at home twiddling his thumbs while she goes out socializing with her pioneer buddies all the time if she wants to do this long term.
Also, if she wants to do this long term, she's going to have to figure out a way to support it.
Shouldn't be hard for someone who hasn't had to work in the last 14 years.
i'm getting my education degree this year and am working in a practicum placement in an elementary classroom (5th grade).
it's a very practical way to see first-hand how teachers teach, discipline and help mold their students.
one student is a jw.
Oh....I'm sure the parents will have something to say about it. JWs are the most nit pickier fault finders there are.

My wife told me that all five elders and all three ministerial servants in the local cong are going to pioneer in April. The 30 hour requirement is working as the GB foresaw.
no....more like the peer pressure is working as they predicted it would.

They are really putting the elders under the gun with peer pressure aren't they? What if you are an elder or MS with a family and responsibilities and you just can't make that 30 hour requirement? What if you'd made vacation plans prior to this announcement?
Now you have to run around making excuses why you can't April Pioneer through no fault of your own.
Those heavies up in NY have no idea what it is like to have familial responsibillities and household bills to pay.

I will not be aux pioneering that month or any other.
do you vacillate between caring that he/she is still entrapped in this cult and wanting to show them everything you have learned since your awakening and not wanting to rock the boat and therefore just keeping all this knowledge to yourself?

Wife still deep in as she's from a 3rd generation witness family firmly entrenched in the WT hellhole.
She goes about her meetings and assemblies and only give me very brief synopsis if I give a hint of being interested in hearing. Usually I'm not. I respectfully listen but she's been able to sense when I've had enough. And when she doesnt sense it, I'll start point out the inconsistencies which usually shuts her down.
Coming to a realization that the WT is just a farce, a big publishing and real estate holding company posing as a religion is a concept as foreign to her is living without breathing air. It is so frustrating when, even cornered and with nowhere to go, she'll defend and make excuses for the organization when their transgression is just as henious as any of the churchs they love to make fun of.

Making the procedure illegal is not going to stop women who want them from doing it. The procedure will only be moved back into the shadows. the poor will have to skulk around to get the procedure done should they want it, while the rich just fly to another country where it is out of the business of nosy american busybodies who feel they can impose their conscious and instill guilt and shame.
In Texas, there is a law about to be passed that forces a woman to have a sonogram before under going the procedure. The re-thug-lican Rick Perry right is trying to pass this off as being a matter of making sure the women are fully informed. Idiots!! What woman choosing to go through this procedure don't know that she is pregnant? It's nothing but a lame attempt to heap even more guilt upon the person choosing to make such a gut wrenching decision. the more hoops you have to go through, the less likely you are to carry out what should be a completely private decision affecting their reproductive process.

after reading a lot of heart-breaking stories over the years on this message forum about mates who no longer believe in the jw religion, the common thread seems to be a desire to get the jw mate to see the same thing; with usually dissapointing results.. i am currently of the opinion that maybe the best thing is not to try to change your mate's religion.
the best thing is NOT to try to change your mate's religion. Agree to disagree. Don't discuss religion. If you have a spiritual need, discuss it with others and focus on common interests that you have with your mate.
That would be all well and fine if only the witness mate would reciprocate. In large measure, most of them will not. They would be just as determined to get you back into the religion as you are to get them out. They will continually rag on anything not stamped with the WT seal of approval and expect you to sit there and take it even if you are of the opinion that there is nothing terribly wrong with the issue. If the conversation deviates to anything critical of the WT Soceity you're labeled the troublemaker and fault-finder when in fact, it is them on not seeing anything positive in the world.
i'll give some background information before i introduce myself.
i faded from the organization three and a half years ago.
i have no family members who are jws and haven't thought about this religion at all over the past three and half years.
While they're not as slutty as most women (better odds of no STDs and no kids), they're not the prudes (at least in my experience) that they pretend to be.
I don't know why I took this statement personally but "most Women" are not slutty at all.
last week, i told you i was going to tell my daughter that i was leaving the truth this weekend and you all gave me sound advice.
but, i cannot keep a secret this heavy from the person i love most on this earth, my only daughter, who is beautiful inside and out.. well, i have always had an open and honest relationship with my daughter, and i guess it paid off.
this weekend i visited my daughter (who lives in another state) and i told her i was leaving "the truth.

It is only a pity that so many others won't listen with such an open mind.
