  "They all loved you more..."

  it's a quote from "legends of the fall," the novel by jim harrison, and the movie, starring anthony hopkins, brad pitt and aidan quinn, and it reminds me (in a way) how i've felt for most of my life--both in the jws and out.. in the story, aidan quinn is the brother who always tries to do the right thing, living up to his responsibilities, treating others well.

  but pitt is wild, generally irresponsible and unapologetic.

  quinn's character says something like this.... 'i have tried all my years to live by the rules of god and man, while you have lived by none of them, brazenly doing whatever you pleased.

  Well, one thing I have noticed is this. When I left the JW's, I began celebrating the holidays with my family, buying gifts, sending birthday, christmas, and other cards, etc. My JW brother does none of these things and yet he is still considered a 'great guy' by the family. As a matter of fact, my stepfather who has no use for JW's has put my brother in his will, and I'm not even mentioned. Of course, I'm not going to make an issue of it, but it just seems kind of strange.

  I guess the expression 'Ma always liked you best' still applies, JW or not! Ha.

  Circuit Overseer Complains Of Recieving HATE MAIL!

  the co visited my mom this week with 2 elders and told her that she must continue forgiving persons that might hurt her.

  he then went on to explain that he gets "hate mail" from various witnesses when he leaves their congregations.

  he chalks it up to their being discouraged but admitted it does bother him......have you ever heard of such a thing?

  Green Urban Legend

  the thread on the wt going into the red, and the remark on "cheap paperback bibles" made me think of the old green nwt.. there was a lot of buzz back then about why it was green.

  i heard these from various cos -.

  a) it was green to prove that it was not from christendom.

  i am a rather old fogey on the matter - just black and hot.

  but i like the occasional mocha.. what use of this universal bean is your favorite?

  Don't laugh, but Tasters Choice Instant is just fine with me. Black, two cups in the morning!

  I have tried and sampled coffee's from all over the world, at all prices, but the above is reasonably priced and quick to fix and to me, just as satisfying.

  Snow .................again.

  it snowed here at the end of december and i said then that it usually doesn't snow here in the seattle area until january or february.. well.............they predicted a big snowstorm last night, and it didn't happen, but it's snowing now, really hard.

  not sure if it will last long, because the weather forecasters can't seem to predict much correctly, other than rain and wind.. i was hoping to take pictures but it's dark, so will have to wait until morning.

  a cold front is supposedly going to last awhile here, so the snow should be around for a few days this time..

  man has created many things.

  being in the construction business for four decades erecting tall structural steel frame buildings, etc, it amazes me how man has built many awesome structures.

  Special Talk on Saturday @ 3PM?

  i was talking to a friend and he said the co (i think) was coming down this saturday for some special talk at 3 pm.

  i don't ever recall special talks on a saturday, or as late as 3 pm -- what could it be?

  unless i misunderstood that it was the co, maybe it was someone else.

  i'm sure there are many........... what happen in my family was crazy......... glendora califorina 1961.my mother wanted to change khs, it had a "bad spirit" there.

  there was also a mass exodus from the hall.

  she wanted to go to the azusa cong.

  This is a true story. The Elder's called me and asked me if I would disassociate myself. I said No, so they said they would do it for me the next Thursday meeting. I asked them what my sin was, and they said, Lack of meeting attendance. I asked if that was going to apply to all who were missing meeting and they said No, just you!

  I told them, Thank God, I thought it was going to be for something serious!

  i was just wondering how many ex-jws still read wt literature and if so why.

  i have noticed alot of posters here know what the lastest wt or awake magazines are talking about and i was just wondering why do you bother to read that stuff since you left the wt?
