Weirdest People you've met while Witnessing!!! {Nut cases}
by Witness 007 ini once called on a guy who invited us straight in...then told us he was "lazarus son of god.
" he had a cazy look in his eye, and would repeat this line every few minutes.
the brother with me was trying to "reason from the scriptures" that he in fact could not be lazarus...i just wanted to leave.

Tithe - giving 10% to the church
by LouBelle inthis subject came up at work and has got me thinking, is this really a requirement that god enforces?
a lot of churches say it is a mandate of the bible?
does it make a difference to your spirituality if you give or not?

Yes, tithing is a pre-Jewish thing. I feel it is not a 'salvation issue' thing, but money given to God ( to advance the work of God), not necessarily a church denomination) that will result in blessings (not necessarily monentary).
Some churches try and put you on a 'guilt trip' about this, saying it is robbing God if you do not give it to them! I do tithe, but not to any one particular group. And, yes, I have been blessed but that is not the reason for my giving. I also support several ex-JW ministries.
Tithing is between you and God. Do what your heart tells you to do.

it never ceases to amze me on the stand the wts will take on the latest fads or styles.
when chubby checker came out with the twist the wts had to come out and do their thing.

A question for those who believe in God and the Bible....
by restrangled inhow do you feel about the gifts he gave us as humans?
don't you find it strange that the wbts or f&ds and other extremist religions would have their adherents believe he wants our entire lives spent in worship and preaching?.
all of us have been given special talents, gifts of special abilities such as art, humor, music, writing and so on.

I understand there are some tests that will tell you or help you to understand your 'spiritual gifts'. And yes, I do think worship includes these whether these be music, art, etc.,etc. The Society wanted us all to be the same (robots) in looks, actions, etc. and only do what they considered most important, i.e. worshiping the organization and selling their crap.

Did you notice any change in lifestyle of JW's throughout the years ??
by JH inwhen i joined in the late 80's most witnesses didn't own a house, today, more than half does.
.
when i joined, sisters pioneered because they didn't work, today most sisters work and don't pioneer.. jw families had 1 car per family, today most jw couples each have a car.. .

Not too much street work anymore, and JW's don't go to cemetary's too much either. Holiday witnessing seems to be declining too.

What do you think heaven holds?
by the widow inbecause of my background with the witless ones, when my husband died it was hard to believe he was in heaven.
i could hope there is a heaven for those who die.
that he is in a better place.
