I cant move on!!!!!

well guys, i just cant do it.

for a long time now i have been trying to get on with my life and try to forget the rage and hurt i feel at the wtbs.

my resignation from the board a few weeks back was part of this.

I thought I could not go on either, I had not gone to the KH for 10 years. I guess I just ignored or tried to forget. Recently I've taken a pro active approach and tried to be objective and learn about JWs. For those ten years I would still go to the memorial, I suppose cause I still believed it was "the truth". Since I've gotten informed by sites like this and reading,,,,,I've made a firm decision to never step foot into a KH again!

My family is 4th generation JW so the ties are strong. Yes there is anger because you want your loved ones to "open their eyes". Though you have anger, do you not feel relief that you know what deception and changing of views this proclaimed pure and true organization has? Take comfort in that.

Look at the larger picture, you have potentially 6 billion people to chose your friends from, not 6 million. Obvousely you have more common sense than the rank & file because you learned what's really going on in the Borg. Trial and error and taking chances are risky. You may get burned or have great results. Either way, YOU made those decisions to mold YOUR future and will be a better person because YOU CHOSE to do them and WEREN'T TOLD!

Don't think of your time spent in the Borg as a waste, you did what you were doing because you thought it was right at the time. Now you know different and use it to your advantage.

I feel damaged by my experience

hi to everyone on this board - i have been around reading many of your posts for some time now but have only just felt strong enough to post my own thoughts.

the watchtower has left me with guilty feelings that i find hard to cope with at times.

my story in the "truth" started when i was 18 years old.

Warm welcome GT! I had been away from the troof for near ten years but only recently started to search for information on JWs as you have. Keep digging it's not all forgeries and deceptions by those only intent to bring down the WTBTS, as they lead you to believe. Many things you'll find are indeed REAL and TRUTHFUL.

I suggest picking up a copy of Crisis of Conscience and check out the threads on JWs in the news. Again Welcome. TT

If rich, what would you do?

if you had so much money that you didn't have to work, how would you spend your time?

I'd hardly say I have more money than I know what to do with but here's what I did...............

1. Wasted thousands on American sports cars that have NO value retention.

2. Wised up and bought a '99 Carrera C4 - put a DVD player with Dolby 5.1 digital surround sound in it. Bought an Audi TT (like I need 2 sports cars (boggle))

3. Bought a modest home - I'm single I don't need a mansion.

4. Bought 16 acres in a development for future use if I decide to have a family.

5. Got my girlfriend's teeth fixed - those implants that don't stain ect.

6. Payed off my girlfriends debt and helped her get her own apartment.

7. Donate to my fraternity's national chapter.

8. Donate to Disabled American Veterans.

9. Wasted thousands on drugs cause I had everything materially and not much emotionally. (mostly fixed now)

10. Let friends live with me rent free so they could get back on their feet.

11. Took a car loan out for a friend. He co-signed and made all but 2 of the payments (he got his lease vehicle repossessed).

12. Bought a friend a Gucci watch for christmas.

13. Got used by a lot of people and didn't really care.

14 Dropped a few thousand in Vegas and didn't really care.

15. Bought a plasma TV and 3000 watt home entertainment system.

16. Countless times took numerous friends out to eat or drink and picked up the tab.

17 Amassed near 750 CDs - I have a box in the basement that I let friends who come over brouse through and take what they want.

Believe me money doesn't solve all your problems, actually it causes a whole new set of them. People hate you for no reason sometimes, have stereo types for you, give you dirty looks while driving for no reason, and you are payed more attention to (in a bad way as in trying to find fault) as my congragation did. I think those who answered they want the things money can't buy have the right idea. Some people don't understand that expensive things also cost a lot to maintain as well. Would you like to have to pay 1200 for a new set of tires? Or 250 dollars for an oil change and maintaince? Nothing I wrote was to gloat...I would say I'm a very generous person. Just an alternate perspective.

I forgot to add that I DO still work for our family business. I love my job, that's really important to me.

Since most JWs ignore the problem, don't know it actually exists, or discredit anyone speaking out against them, I understand why she knows nothing. I told her that the march was for abuse victims that felt they were wronged by the elders not handling the matter properly. I really couldn't throw in that the orders were coming from the GB, that would have ended the conversation.

Using "theocratic warfare" I admitted that the one elder is a bit outspoken (B.B.). She was mistaken in that she thought it was people who were DFd FOR child abuse who were protesting. I informed her that it was VICTIMS and SUPPORTERS who were protesting and that the DFd were young adults and elders who went to the police.

You may find the justification and reasoning for defending the JWs interesting.

1. "These people are just explioting the fact that child abuse is an "in" thing for the media, it's a way to get a lot of attention to discredit the Witnesses."

2. "A letter was read from the platform that stated that in abuse cases, ONLY ONE WITNESS IS NEEDED TO BRING CHARGES!" - I would love to see this letter! I'm sorry but this completely contradicts all the cases I've ever read. She admitted that there would not be any other witness to the act so only having one witness made sense to her. Has anyone else heard that a letter was read saying that a ONE witness policy exists?....I doubt it, not according to the GB policy.

3. "People generally hate JWs so they will try to make them look bad any way they can."

4. "There is a difference between non-JWs and apostates. Apostates can't accept they did something wrong and are mad at JWs so they try to make them look bad." - I'm sure there are going to be EX and NON-JWs at the march. Can you find the reasoning in this thinking? I can't.

5. "Witnesses are THE ONLY religion that does not tolerate abusers, Catholics just move the priests somewhere else and hide it." - I'll have to find some articles from news papers that shows convicted abusers who are still Witnesses in good standing.

In summary there was basically a denial of anything wrong. There may have been cases where the elders didn't handle it properly but their policy is effective and solves the problem. Self justification that in that they are being "persicuted". The abused are most likely lying and just trying to get attention. I find it amazing that the average JW just dismisses these claims, even though I told her there were over 5000 cases. She is going to ask my cousins who are at Bethel if they have heard anything about the march. Should be interesting.

Though in complete denial at least she now knows that there is something going on. A "march on Bethel" and other protests nation wide really got her attention. I believe that JWs are completely ignorant of the issue, maybe this march will get the attention of those who simply brush it off as persicution.

A Week Later; I'm Still Confused.......

well, it's been one week since mom called to tell me that she is reverting back to a previous behavior from 1981, called "hard line shunning".

this is after some ten years now, of having communication with me in a restrictive manner.

(well, as "normal" as it could be for us anyway.

This saddens me, but there is hope!

I haven't gone to meetings for 10 years now, I faded. My parents know I smoke, did drugs, have a girlfriend, don't agree with JWs and so forth. I'm still baffeled,

despite the latest KM, that they still show unconditional love. I straight out told them they had better never treat me like the article described.

You can bet it's tearing your mother up inside as well. I know my parents have too many problems to add one of that magnitude. I don't know if I was DF or DA

if it would make a difference.......that seems only a formality seing as they know of all the things I've done. My younger brother is DA and they don't treat him any different

because of it. I know it bothers some of my relatives that my younger brother and I are their childrens favorite cousins.

I suppose if my parents refused to talk to me I'd make it a point to call often leaving messages of, "Hi, it's your son. I just called to say hello and that I love you. Give me a call."

Maybe my situation can give you some hope that the WTS isn't COMPLETELY effective in severing family ties.

I was born JW in 1972 and baptised when I was 16. My parents, older brother, and younger sister are still JW; however

my younger brother left around the same time I did. My mom's parents were born JW and her mother's parents (my great grandparents)

were of the "anointed". My mom's brother's families are JW (one even subtituted for CO) and have I cousins at Borg Bethel.

I went to Case Western Reserve Univ. in Cleveland, OH which led to my fade. I joinded Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity and met some of

my best friends. As you can see my family is VERY JW.

I've only recently begun to research the cult which led me to this board, knowledge of Silent Lambs, the Datline broadcast, and am

now half way through reading Crisis of Conscience. They left me with such feelings of guilt and coping skills of "pray for the big "A"

to fix problems. What I've been reading is shocking to say the least. I can't put the book down.

My interests are cars, motorcycles (non-Harleys), skiing, on line games (UO, DAOC), dance music, and stereos.

I look forward to adding my views to threads. From my month of passively reading posts I only have one comment........

You Know is a fool, blinded and mind controlled, like the rest, by an organization who puts the companies interests above individuals.
