I'm hesitant to name names also, because it is the variety and the depth and breadth and wit and love and sarcasm and humour expressed openly here that is so very, very refreshing to me! I am constantly astounded by the wealth of good information and insights posted here and the amount of compassion that just overflows when someone is hurt and/or angry.

BRCI Conference?? Tell me more...

i just noticed that there's a brci conference (the one that amazing says he will attending) in the city i live in.. could anyone tell me exactly what a bfci conference is?.

i would be even more grateful if anyone could tell me where in waterloo it is (it's likely at uw or wlu).. if it would be of benefit to me, i'm sure i would want to attend.. thanks,.

that the wts is nothing more than a business is painfully obvious in the way many brothers seek 'positions'.

i was always highly doubtful of the 'appointed by holy spirit' bs that we were always fed.

appointments often came down to who kissed up the most to the decision-makers.

I am appalled to learn about the sucking up you describe and the cynicism in the method that is known and propagated!

During my DA meeting two of the three brothers happened to be black, including the P.O. Both of them have risen in the outside Corporate World. One is a bank vice-president. The other is a high ranking general manager at a Fortune 500 corporation. When stressing the love and the unity of the congregation, they each pointed to their rise in the Organization (having come from 1/the south side of Chicago and 2/some other rough, urban environment -- can't recall the city) as something that would have been impossible for men like them. They pointed to the change in lifestyle, poise, and public speaking skills as having helped them on their corporate way.

Obviously, these two were 'ambitious' both in and out of the org.

Interestingly, the only other black brother in our sister congregation was assigned again to our congregation at a recent kingdom hall split. He lasted about three months under that same P.O. and went back to his former congregation. This was the second time he could not work with this body of elders. Personality conflicts? For sure. Holy spirit appointing these guys? Not a chance!!!

Hey, Amazing!

I've been to the BRCI site and have a question you might be able to answer. Can I just show up for the day and attend the conference?
I only live about 3 hrs. from Kitchener-Waterloo and thought about driving up for Saturday. What time does the Saturday session begin?

do folk in the united states use mnemonics as we do here in the uk?.

just in case youre wondering, a mnemonic is a method by which it becomes easy to remember something, especially if it involves a table or sequence.

most uk mnemonics have a vulgar or sexual connotation, so their use is somewhat frowned upon in jw circles.. when number 2 son was studying geology, it was essential that he remembered the hardness order of various minerals.
