elders, and other clergy, can no longer go to the patient lists in hospital and scan for names.
the list is now confidential...!.
article in the newspaper of september 7, 2001. unless you stipulate, upon admission, that you desire a visit, the elders will not even know.. this change, i am sure, is based on the practice of jw blood gestapo frequenting the hospitals and scanning the patient lists under the guise of clergy priviledge, looking for jws sneaking into hospital and getting blood based treatment.. the actions of the elders was deemed against the law of patient confidentiality, and so their privelidge was cut.. elders stay out is now the new law.
Hi, there, BibleEx!
I am sorry that you supposed that because I and many others did not reply to this thread that we thought it unimportant. I found it quite interesting, and thought at the time that I would like to read the article. But you didn't reference the newspaper until just now, and by STAR, I'm ASSuming you mean The Toronto Star? I have been searching online for the article without success. Would you mind terribly posting the exact title of the piece? I will then post the link if I can find it.
I found your account of how the "elders" go to the "clergy" room -- but there IS no CLERGY class!!!! -- interesting. I've always wondered if JW elders took advantage of parking in the spots reserved for clergy. I know that as a JW 'minister' I, myself, often was tempted to do so! (Usually when the lot was quite full .)
Keep up the good work, BE! I look forward to hearing your update after you speak with the reporter.

i have been on several witness mb's sporatically within the last couple of years.
hanging on one for a while, then hangin on another.
how long has this one been here?
Hi, UnclePenn!
I've been here since March when I DA'd myself and this place is GREAT!
No Moderators. Just the Board's owner, Simon, looking in to keep things in check when they get really (and I mean, REALLY) out of hand.
Otherwise, free think all ya want!

here are just a few thoughts to discuss and to keep myself distracted for now.. there are only two organizations that routinely reward and bless major screw-ups:.
1) government agencies.
2) the watchtower society.
Between your post and Seeker's reponse to Patio's request for "help" the other day, I am seeing clearly just how twisted around everything was/is in Watchtowerland. Which is to say: most JWs are NOT seeing clearly!!!
And how interesting to mull over the thought that the demons send people INTO the Watchtower's religion and then LEAVE THEM ALONE! Because they are right where the demons want them? Otherwise, as you noted, the demons would KEEP THEM OUT.
And yet the WTS is certain that when people leave -- many because they've prayed to God to help them see if they are worshipping Him acceptably -- the demons are drawing them AWAY.
Curiouser and curiouser...

i desparately tried to avoid this thread about anglo & american superiority.
i truly did, until i read the "poppycock" about the british war efforts in the last century.. perhaps anglophiles should refresh their ancient and modern memories a bit before launching such laughable tirades of triviality and supposed triumph.. first, did not the english employ mercenaries during the battle of hastings to win the 100 years war?
(since "expatbrit" is correcting me--i am modifying this)-- excuse me for my trivial error).
P.S. I thought Nutella was Canadian! LOL

Hey, ExpatBrit!
Hey! This thread is nine posts long. Isn't it about time we started calling each other names?
I heard that the Saxons (Edward Godwinson & co) called William the Conqueror -- "William the Bastard"!!!
Will that do?
Out
the memorial for my cousin, sharon, who died of breast cancer on september 6, was yesterday.
it was standing room only, and it was obvious how many people really loved her.
i couldn't help but think of all the absent ones, who had been her lifelong friends, and how sad it was that they stayed away.
Thanks for sharing that with us, Mulan.
I hope that it helped you to not feel so "raw" with grief, and I'm sure that jw's and lurkers here who read it will once again be confronted with the choice of whether or not to personally stand up AGAINST shunning and FOR love.
Hugs to you and your family, especially SEAKEN and Dave.

we have been discussing the special meeting being held in various locations on october 7th.
note, this is the day after the annual meeting, not part of the annual meeting itself.
reports have come in that certain individual congregations have been invited to attend.
Thanks, Essie, about the color.
And thanks, nytelecom1 about the meeting time.
As for the Starbucks -- would that be across the Long Island Expressway?

So, nytelecom1,
Can you give us the hours that this will take place where you are at least (Nassau Coliseum?)? The date is a Sunday -- is it replacing the usual Sunday meetings?
And what color are the new tickets? (just kidding -- wouldn't want to get you in trouble.)
