i used to think that this place was a good spot to recommend for exiting jws.
in some wasy, it still is.
but if they want to test the waters of doctrinal evaluation i believe it is nearly impossible.

Don't worry, AS, Terry's an evangelist.
does doing what is right in god's eyes mean we have to use only bible terms?
i know the organization is not perfect.
is there strong evidence that he has his people here on earth that although not perfect, are doing his will?
Even Witnesses tell me about their lives and they don't know I am a Witness
Folks, something smells!

I don't believe that eitherI don't think MRP said he's been lurking 7 years. He's gone back over 7 years of posts and read them.
Neither do I.

MRP: This is a discussion board which means you start a thread, you read replies and then you respond. That's why it's called a discussion board.
A person who simply starts new threads 'on the fly' is what is called a Troll in internet parlance.
So.......we look forward to reading your responses.
here is the best that i could do, but i think it gets the main points of the articles across.
i wouldn't bet my life on this translation, but i think it is good enough for our purposes.
question box.
G'day JeffT,
I'm going to be a kinda 'devil's advocate' here:
Acts 17:11 (New International Version)
11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
Note: this says clearly that they were independently confirming what they were being told by one who had been designated by God as an Apostle. And they were praised for it. Maybe if the F&DS slave had a better message it could hold up to a bunch of people checking it out.
I'm sure the Borg would counter your argument by saying that in the KM they are addressing those already converted, not like the Bereans who had yet to convert. Note that the Bereans were not, at this time christians; they were examining the truthfulness of what Paul had been preaching to them, so in this respect they cannot parallel JWs today who would claim to be already christians.
