OK as I anticipated the Borgmeisters, using a gross error of Bible scholarship, have sought to portray their treatment of “removed ones” as being “Bible based”.
Bible scholars agree that of all the letters that the apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth, just two remain and we know them as 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians.
We know there was definitely one written after 1 Corinthians that we do not have. It’s referred to at 2 Corinthians 2:3,4 and was written from Ephesus but unfortunately it has not survived.
From this knowledge we have no basis for claiming (as the Watchtower does) that the man referred to at 2 Corinthians 2:5-11 was the guy whose conduct Paul addressed in 1 Corinthians.
The Watchtower has long claimed, and wrongly, the opposite. So much for being Bible teachers and “true christians”!
So when the gullible read the Study 33 article, they may be drawn into a land completely alien to what was the reality of the time. Drawing false parallels and overlain with a twenty-first century Jehovah’s Witness culture and terminology, paragraph 8 is based on a false premise and paragraph 9 is pure conjecture.

big news.
just in from a friend who is fading.. disfellowshipping will no longer be a term used by jws.
study article 35, paragraph 4 footnote says this:.
. If a person is Disfellowshiped for a sin, but latter the rules in the KS book governing that sin are modified by the Governing Body so that its no longer a Disfellowshipping offense, what is the standing of the people previously 'removed from the congregation'?
When, as an elder, I asked the same question I was told at branch level that the disfellowshiping was justified because of rebellion to “Jehovah’s organisation” (TM).
You just can’t win!
from reddit.. a summary of changes: .
we are all sinners, so we have to be reasonable how we punish sinners.
if elders and congregation do not quickly help someone come to be reinstated they would be imitating satan the devil, not jehovah (yes that actually is what is said in the tagalog version in translation!
Box explains the man in Corinth changed within a few months, this is the basis for the change towards disfellowshipping.
The “Box” may “explain” the WT teaching but like the song says “it ain’t necessarily so”.
Apart from what is included in the Bible canon, Paul wrote other letters to the church in Corinth, including one between the first and second to the Corinthians. There is no concrete evidence that the man referred to in 1 Corinthians is also the one referred to in 2 Corinthians.
the september watchtower has already been released and is being discussed over on reddit.
some highlights: .
1. more hitting the flock on total reliance and obedience to god's representatives on earth today, the f&ds (the governing body, of course).
It will probably be released soon in the next month, with some disappointing information
Isn’t the point of discussion that it was delayed at all ?

the upcoming governing body update, set to be released on friday this week, will feature a bearded samuel herd.. jwtalk website revealed the leak, so this thread will be used to speculate the content of the update and discuss the actual contents after its release..
If that’s the case, I wonder how my family who are PIMI will react.
uh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.
Hope he's putting plenty into a private pension or he's screwed. Actually, that's good advice for everyone - full state pension or not.
Probably it could be viewed as the perfect retirement by a “certain someone”.

does he hope it will carry on until he retires?
Mikejw raises the point about retirement, and I’m curious, is there such a thing as a state pension where he lives? If there is, does he qualify ? If not, what about those generous Brits, does he qualify for a state pension from them ?
