  Update on my son's JC meeting

  thank you all for your kind words and concern.

  my wife tells me the meeting with the three wise-men went pretty good.

  regrettably, no elders were decked during the meeting (yes i am quite disappointed too) and so an announcement will be made next week that he was reproved and found repentant.

  in the world today (especially in america) we believe that we can do what ever we want or will to do, but god still rules the universe, and according to his word there are some things that we can not do.

  unless god wills!

  Deputy Dog, Cute name sweetie. I hope you'll have plenty of good threads and postings here. There are several folks on this forum who have never been jw's but have been/are married to dubs. I think you'll really enjoy the fellowship, but one thing you need to know is that if you make blanket statements someone will call you on them. Think of it as a good mental excercise for your faith. Oh BTW Mark Twain said something about this: "Faith is believing what you know ain't so."

  Why did they have paint ball guns... aren't those mechanical. And they've been throwing tomatoes for years? Really? Isn't that wasting gods bounty or something? Or are they practicing for snowball season? Good grief, it's not worth dying over.

  Ever get the feeling your just not "normal"?

  even when i was a dub i felt this way.

  i mean, i would just stand there at gatherings and feel that i was in my own world -- that, somehow, everyone else was "in" and i was "out.

  " i never felt this way at formal gatherings -- meetings, assemblies, etc -- only in most social settings.

  Bradley and Tink, You are at an age of BECOMING, a time when great writers and artists began their most creative works ... a sort of learning madness and imagination. All of that indestructible adolecent stuff is behind you. Now mortality has a new meaning, you are deep thinkers in a world of mediocre accepted shallowness. When you have already confronted the religion you were brought up into you are necessarily beyond your peers. Changes in belief also mean changes in your known power structures. You no longer have a specific final authority. You must think and analyse for your self. How wonderful that you feel alone, few people are ever where you're at their whole lives. Rejoice in your desparate philosophical alone-ness. You are thankfully human beings worth knowing!

  a brother gives his first public talk, but only takes 15 minutes to give the talk.

  the elders talk about counseling him, but after some consideration, decide to give him a break since it was his first talk.

  the next public talk he gives, he talks for exactly one full hour!!

  Question: What keeps the Watchtower Society going?

  hello folks, it's been awhile since i have posted, hope everyone is doing well!

  i have a question, though, if the society is not paying the governing body, or other "big wigs" in ny large salaries, what would be the motivating factor for the society to continue to exist?

  i am not saying that money is everything, but if none of the money is going into pockets, then the society must really feel that they are god's chosen channel, or something to that effect.

You are treated like god even though you aren't god but god-like (ho theos) since you are afterall Jesus spiritual brothers, anointed by Jah to reign forever in heaven on thrones PHEW ...quite the heady future... And for now your existence is paid for. You go anywhere in the world. Everyone wants to touch your outer garments listen to whatever drizzle splutters forth from your mouth.

  the lord jesus christ, the head of the congregation he gave not only apostles, not only prophets, but also evangelizers.

  later on the account tells us that barnabas took paul, or saul of tarsus, down to jerusalem.

  and they were both apostles of the antioch congregation.

  Why did it take a full year to discuss these changes? Easy answer, though I may be wrong, 1975 was supposed to be the end, armageddon, death to all non-jws... fine, final, kaput. But since that's not happening we better change some organizational stuff and have Fred explain it all. So the changes took effect on Jan 1,1976. So no Jesus kingdom, no millenium, just some big boy changes at Bethel. SHEEESH.

  In Search of Christian Freedom

  franz stated something in this mind-blowing book which was definitely true for me.. he stated (this is a poor paraphrase) that very early on during a "study", witnesses can easily show what's in the bible regarding god's name, the condition of the dead, living on paradise earth, etc.

  once these are proven to a person's satisfaction, when the study moves on to more complicated matters, it is just easier to accept what isn't understood on the basis that so far, everything has seemed true.

  by now, there is an emotional investment -and everything up until now seemed fine, so.....................................let's swallow it all, and what is too difficult to swallow comfortably (blood?
