Oh good grief --- if this wasn't so sad it'd be funny. I really believed in this organisation 100%. I gave my all, my youth and energy. They used me up and all the while if I'd just read this book I might have begun to think ! How HOW does anyone think this is the truth?

Shamus, Good for you! I'll bet you feel good just knowing you are completely outta there. I hope you'll be able to help those here who are unable to make a decision to leave the WTS or not. This place is great because we agree to disagree w/o the threat of DF'ing or shunning. Soon you'll feel sorry for those remaining in dubdom and you'll forgive yourself for ever believing the lies, especially the lies which told us all we were never good enough, we never did enough, and we deserved nothing. Sheeesh I'm glad you're out!

Bombarded by Particles....Whoaaat??
by Sentinel inyesterday near the end of my work day, around 4:30, i was listening to the best news station here on my work radio, (wtop) and heard something that seemed to be big news to me.
there was an informative discussion about the affects of this solar storm, and the consensus was that we may even have to totally disconnect all electronic devices, like telephones, pc's, vcr's, to "avoid damage".
it was stated that relying on the surge protectors will not work.

Sentinel, Thanks for the website info. I've been hearing about this for a week or so and wondered when the actual solar flare was to happen. Magnetism is fascinating. It's the real beginning of studying physics. And it's the power of magnetism that keeps things moving. While there is no perpetual motion machine, a magnetic field almost looks like one. But the changes in magnetic fields is what will affect the Earth for the next few days. This is the sort of occurrance which I hope will get folks noticing the awesomeness of the universe and forget petty problems.

Kids, reading, and TV
by Phantom Stranger inrecently there was a thread (i have searched and searched and failed to locate it) which discussed if jw kids were smarter, better readers, more likely to graduate hs, etc., than the population.
there was a great deal of discussion about reading.
the story below seems to have some bearing on that discussion - my apologies for not including the link.

I saw this study in the news. It amazes me that we needed a study to tell us we have the *^#** TV turned on way too much of the time. In a way my Mom was way ahead of her time because, we were not allowed to watch TV during the school week. My younger brother and I couldn't wait for friday night when the Flinstones were on and we could turn the TV ON.

Stronger or weaker
by Paradise Found inhas yourjehovahs witness experience made ypur belief in god stronger or weaker?.
my attitude to god and religon no longer plays an active part in my life.
what i mean by not playing an active part is that i never prayer for help when in trouble or understanding as to lifes purpose and a personal relationhip with god.. maybe because iam scared to take the risk my prayers might not be answered and i d be disillusioned.although if things go right i dont mind saying "thankyou" i will never say "please".

Was it Bacon who said "Knowledge is power." Or maybe Blake? Anyway, it was knowledge that opened my eyes to the WTS and knowledge that opened my eyes to the god myth and book of legends. Life and death are eternal. You and I are mortal. That tells me I should appreciate and show appreciation here and now. I should do good things here and now. I should recognise that I am both powerful and powerless. I guess it's the yin/yang philosophy --- never all strong never all weak. All of the positive and negative sharing bits of space in my mind and heart.

How Will History Treat The Jehovah's Witness Religion?
by minimus injust as presidents and prime ministers think about how history will view them, one must wonder what legacy the watchtower society aka jehovah's witnesses, will have.
to some, the witness religion is so irrelevant that whatever happens, it means nothing.
yet, they have been in existence for over 100 years and according to their records, are still going strong......what will history or what does history say about this religion??

Panda
SFJim, that was a great picture!
Yeah, I'd have to agree that history will just add a footnote that says "and another bussiness mascarading as religion was the WTBTS."

by Vivamus init's 2 am, and my whole country is asleep and i badly need to talk, and someone to hold me.

I'm glad you started to feel better. Panic attacks and sleep paralysis are both very different things. But they can also both be related to similar causes. Number one is lack of sleep. number two is stress.
In the US about 20 yrs ago there were some immigrants from Laos/Cambodia who were called the Hmong people. I lived in WI at the time and my friend Chris lived across the street from one Hmong family. Well believe it or not, more than one Hmong person died from the stress of culture shock ! You have gone through both a culture shock (DF) and bereavement of your grandmother. These are not symptoms to be taken lightly. Maybe your doctor can prescribe a sleep aid, it'll help immensely.

Who pays the tuition?
by Panda inhey, does anyone know who pays the tuition for law school at wts?
do they have a fund for college and law school?
i heard once that they did infact send one bethel bro to school but i have no evidence to back this up.. i wonder about this because with 17 lawyers they can't all have come into the borg after their education, or maybe i'm wrong and they were duped into dubdom.

Short update(s) on my neighbor
by bebu inmy neighbor didn't come on time, and her line was busy, so i went over to see if there was a problem.
she was cheerfully eating lunch, and by the time she finally made it over to my place it was 1 1/2 hours late.
she brought a printout from her elder (an old friend of her husband's .

bebu, How I wish that more dubs would listen to your wisdom. I enjoyed reading your account and hope you have got this sisters little grey cells working overtime. Before I DA'd a good friend kept telling me that I should wait on Jehovah --- Paduan's list would've come in handy.
