Are Jehovah's Witnesses colorblind?
by avengers inmy youngest son showed me a quote that in my opinion describes the mentality within the organization perfectly.
here it is: those that think it is permissible to tell white lies soon grow color blind.
they [the watchtower] adamantly teach that it is okay to ?hide the truth from your enemies,?

Help! Please! My sister finds loophole...
by FlyingHighNow inthis past july, my only sister decided i was an apostate.
she contacted my former cong.
and spoke to the elders.

Obviously your sister wants to talk to you. She has realized that the separation is too painful. She will use whatever loophole she can (and remain a JW) to be in contact w/you. So it's up to you. I think this may be a real up and down relationship as long as she's a Jdub. But again maybe just a little information now and again won't kill either one of you --- IMO

Tatiana --- how about the original Wuthering Height with that Lord god awful gorgeous actor who played Heathcliff, Oh man his image has been with me since kid-dom. OH!!! Lawrence Olivier. What a dreamboat.
I also frequently warch Clinty's B westerns and don't forget Henry Fonda's trek into spaghetti westerns where he played a bad guy!!! He was great. Or when he played the addicted gambler in A BIG HAND FOR A LITTLE LADY --- the lady was Joann Woodward.
Somebody mentioned the 12 Monkeys --- In either the french or english it's superb.
Besides To Live other good Chinese films are The Girl from Hunan , TheRoad Home another tear duct cleaning, And Red Sorghum it's more of a political statement but great use of images.

Balls of Steel or just plain stupidity ???
by Xandria inthe news just came on with a "special report" and my husband looked at me and said, "uh oh what now??
" the newscaster came on.. "president bush in a operation that outdone the cia in secrecy..blah blah blah".
bottom line... the president flew into iraq to spend thanksgiving with the troops.

I am very proud of President Bush for going to Iraq. I believe that this is something he would want to have done not only for the good PR but because he genuinely cares about other people. He is a truly regular kind of guy. And for me that means the typical American nice guy. Even Australian women want to marry American guys because they are just plain old nice guys. So that's President Bush, and I imagine that he would've stayed there if he could've.

Titles like District Overseer, Circuit Overseer, Presiding Overseer don't sound like a Chinese Village --- they sound like an American plantation mentality. Yes Sirrah .

Metatron, the math we use is Arab in origin... we had no zero without the Muslim Mathmeticians. And the Greek philosophers developed our geometry (w/ I'll bet some egyptian influence).

I've found that whenever someone asks "what else do people have for hope etc.?" that it's the old double negative so this last bit is the answer. What did people have for hope before patriarchal religion? They had one another, food, the sun and moon. But while we romanticize the natural world we certainly don't have to romanticize the Bible (which was afterall written by men). The more papyrus' discovery's being made in the deserts of the middle east, the more we understand the human origins of the Bible. And there's nothing wrong with that either if you don't claim it's the only way to believe. If nothing else surely having been a JW has told us that there are as many belief systems as there are people.
If we stop thinking about going to heaven maybe we'll focus on what's happening around us. Maybe if we believe this is our only chance to do our best, then we'd find more folks doing their best. Maybe if we didn't support ancient despotism's we'd support equal rights for everyone. (We still don't haven't passed the ERA in America). Maybe if we didn't support the "other world and next life belief we would do even small things, like mentoring in order to encourage kids.
Somebody mentioned to read some quantum physics. I agree. In fact a terrific book is the last years publication of Faster than the Speed of Light. It's written by a young phyicist, the kind who studies the universe (cosmologist?) like Stephen Hawkings. The more you read the more you realize that phyics is just a way of thinking. It's more awesome than any god I've ever read about.
