  One for the lurkers, how sure are you that the JWs are right?

  got to pondering on the drive home tonight about some stuff i will say to my son, who at this time is thinking about whether to stay with jws or not.. two babies are born, by chance even on the same day.

  one is raised a jw the other as no particular religion at all.

  time passes and they stay with their respective upbringings into the late teens.. kid 1 (no religion) gets into normal teenage strife, sleeps around, does a bit of dodgy shit along the way while kid 2 (jw) is pretty much a good jw kid, keeps his nose clean and pleases mummy and the elders a lot but is not baptized.. one rainy night they are both in a freak head on crash with each other and both die.. which one has the better hope?

  one of the things that always bothered me about the wts teaching, is that they take these passages from the bible about a soldier, or battle, or staying awake, being urgent etc, and then use that to justify their points on how you need to live your life each and every day.. for example some brothers came over for sheparding (don't we all love those) and read a scripture in nehamiah somewhere about how the families had to camp between the wall sections to protect the city from invaders while rebuilding jerusalem.

  the point he made was that since your family is right there you be more inclined to staying awake and defending that section more vigorously.

  then he proceeds to use that into gulting me into doing more, reaching out etc.

  Just heard another stupid one today...

  Bro. Hernandez grew up in West Texas , and often saw cowbirds. These birds spend most of their time on the backs of cows eating parasites. When they spot a bird building a nest they will wait for the bird to leave and then go and lay their eggs in someone else's nest. The cowbird is lazy, so it goes back to the cow. The unsuspecting bird doesn't notice the extra eggs, and when they hatch, she begins flying off to feed them. This tires her out so that when her own eggs hatch she is too weak to feed them, and her babies end up dying.

  Today Satan is like the cowbird. He watches us and then tries to drop eggs into our nest. They may be work, school, entertainment, recreation, or whatever, and we begin to take more care of Satan's eggs than our own spiritual needs. If we are not careful, our spirituality will die because we are too busy feeding Satan's eggs. So watch out for those deadly eggs and get them out of your nest!

  No, I think it will take a combination of things including blood as you stated. The Chinese government was smart by allowing capitalism though; it has served as a pressure valve to relieve some of the peoples anger, but it will not hold out forever. Capitalism and the taste of freedom that it's bringing may be the spark that ignites the powder keg there. Incidents like Tiananmen Square, and this latest Chen Guangcheng seeking U.S. assylum case show that people are not happy with that system of government.

  I don't know the future. If history is any indicaton of the past, then one can make an educated guess that communism will not hold out in China either.

  In many ways it already hasn't, as they've been forced to adopt many principlals of free market economics since the 90s to give their people incentive and to provide for their population. Now you are seeing many Chinese enjoying the things that a measure of freedom has afforded them, and the communist ideals that have ruled China are eroding before our eyes. It's interesting though how much slower the process is with China than it was with Russia though.

  Thanks for sharing and that was a great counter argument with "Bros and Sis in Rawanda". It's stuff like this that shows me how little human life is really valued by their master who has them fooled that he provides any physical protection. The only protection he provides is from seeing the truth about the troof.

  Sab - Prophet would imply something supernatural. There is nothing supernatural in what I've said. As a teenager, I watched the fall of communism, and read a great deal about it, as it was a fascinating subject for me. The cracks in communism's foundations, can all be traced back to suppression of freedom. Whether it was speech/press, economics, religion etc.

  People do bad things whether there is fear of the afterlife or not, the defeat of communism shows that natural selection does in fact work, and here is the best part, it gets the job done much faster than gods promises.
