both of them are dyed-in-the-wool, hardcore, faithful-to-the-end jw's.
my dad's an elder and has been for many years.. .
my sister and i cannot mull enough over the odd upbringing we had.

Don't feel alone. There are many parents like yours. Mine included. Before I figured out that I was raised in a cult, I actually believed that my mother was just unbalanced in the way she raised us, because I saw other parents that allowed their children to breath something other than the watchtower and awake.
So I just told everyone my mother was certifiable. They never questioned it and even felt sorry for me. I mean, it's not like I couldn't back that statement up with some bazaar thing she had pulled. Example: My mother took a ring from me that she had given me from her mother. She thought it was possessed and that is why I was acting up. When after two weeks I was still the same, she had to admit that it couldn't have been the ring. But when I asked for it back, she informed me that she had thrown it away. It was the only link to her mother left. Out there in the trash, because my mother was NUTS.
So, you see? There are other parents out there doing the exact same thing to their kids as your parents did to you and your sister. My mother did it to all 4 of her girls. But you only get one mommy, huh? How did we get soo lucky? I don't know.
Don't feel alone.

in june of 2003, members of this and other xjw forums were informed of the availability of the "watchtower bookshelf cd," and in that initial announcement they were told:
"...the wt bs cd is being distributed as freeware to seekers of truth everywhere.
many expressed an interest in the project, which was very gratifying.
I've been away for a while. I completely missed this CD. Can you still get one? (Other than from David63042)
Thanks,

i have been reading quite a few of these threads and post and through it i feel as though i have come to know some of you and your behaviors.. i notice that there are many of you who are still associated with the hall, and have not left yet... yet, bring up very "strong" points on the board.. i have a question for all of you who fit this description.... why dont you just 'effin leave already?
whats holding you back?
if you feel soooo strongly that this is "wrong" are you too chicken to state your opinion to a family member?
AOVP-
It seems you are fishing. Do you have some other scenario in mind that you would like to comment on? If so, just throw it out there.
OBVIOUSLY, most here feel that family and association are the reasons to stick around or fade slowly. Just because you "can't believe" there is no other reason doesn't mean that there is another reason.
You asked the question. You got the answer.
Some people actually love their family and friends enough to stay longer than they want to. You don't seem to be in that group, but so be it. To each their own. I don't much appreciate my hypocritical family either.
My 2 cents worth.

Hi!
Welcome.
i want to give my house a name.
lot's of my neighbours have already done this, so we have a plethora of name boards springing up in my road.
(actually, i susupect it's a sort of snobbery so that people will know that it's not just another old house full of flats and bedsits but a privately owned whole house).
OK - One more vote for little witch's idea. Dubno Moor.
That one is priceless.

i'm new here.. i would like to question those who tend to disagree with jw teachings, but still seem to believe in christianity and refer to god as jehovah.
i always told myself that if i were to ever leave i'd stay out of religion all together, because if this isn't the truth than nothing is.
christianity in today's society is so warped that it's not even funny.
It's not me either. But welcome anyway.

hello, just wanted to introduce myself.
was raised as one from about 4 to 16. mother jw and still in, father and 2 brothers never were.
just within the past 6 months or so realizing the effects of being raised jw has had on me.
HI there Michalea!
Welcome. I got out at about the age of 16. My parents moved away about that time. I had to find someone to live with. It was a little scary. But that was over 15 years ago. It's all good now. My mom isn't aloud to indoctrinate my child either. I don't want to pass this plague to my child. It is bad enough that she has freaky relatives that don't celibrate holidays and other weird stuff.
I'm sure you will find the fellowship here very enlightening. I know I did.
Have fun.

i want to read what jw's are saying about themselves, what boards/chat rooms are still pro jw or have they all been closed by the org.
?
HAHAHA!
I popped onto jwzone and the first subject I see is a 5 page thread about the dangers of the internet.
huh, go figure.
