Brainwashing left a stain
by Fadeaway1962 inhi one of my jw parents died recently of old age , after decades of brainwashing of the dead are just a sleep and if we are good we would see them again in paradise .. i fully understand now you have one life and should make the best of it but finding it difficult at the moment to get my head around it .. it's just a bit of a rant but your the only ones that i can try and express how i feel and be able to understand after the years of brainwashing how it affects my thinking process.. thanks for any help and advice..

eyeusetobeadub Great Minds Think Alike ! I was only thinking last night that for us XJW's the experience must be similar to normal people's with the Santa thing, you grow up ( we were childlike while in) and realise it was just a silly belief, and move on , to a more adult view of life.

First of all, I am very sorry for your loss, it hurts, both my JW Parents died in the last few years. Even though we were estranged because I walked away from the JW's, I still loved them dearly.
I was born in, many decades ago, and stayed in for nearly six decades, so the Mind Control was strong in my case too. I used a number of methods to combat it, because it is multi-faceted. First, I decided that as I knew the JW Org had lied to me, I would lead a Facts and Evidence based life, facts and evidence that would bear any scrutiny. That blew all their Doctrines and teachings out of the window. All that lingered was feelings, first of distrust of what they call "worldly people", also of fear of Blood , and slightly, of Demons. These feelings were expunged by fact checking, and then by actively challenging them, by making friends with a good number of what I call normal people, by Donating Blood, and just doing many things, and saying many things JW's would disapprove of, with a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle.
I found that as time went by, all traces of JW thinking, and of JW personality faded away, totally. I am now the Real Me ! and happy with who and what I am.

When do the 2300 days begin?

to get an idea, it could be helpful to discern when those days end relative to time times and half a time.. i see a possibility that the 2300 days end the same day as the 1260 days.
that is because the woman in revelation 12 will be fed 1260 days.

Also to be considered is that the Bible Book of Daniel is of the Genre that assumes a personal name for its title, pretends to be written Centuries before it was, is Apocalyptic,and is done that way to hide the Target, Antiochus. Quite a common genre in the Centuries BCE, and of course in the 1st and 2nd Centuries of C.E, Revelation for example.
As Jeffro rightly says, to play about with numbers from such a source is just wrong, and IMO very silly. Also to join together Scriptures from Books written many years apart, to make a weird claim, is really no way to understand the Bible, and what it really is writing about.

no meetings, no field service, no elder visits, no assemblies, no convention, and no other bullshit busy work going on.

They were moving more slowly that way, so as not to upset the older J.W's I guess. Some of the elderly ones I know still do not know how to use the Internet for themselves !
Coupled with the normal laziness of Elders, and them then being able to say " Well, it is all on-line for them if they want it" it will make a Fade much easier, good !

I do hope the Org fails with this, I wonder how strong their case may be. Surely these films were available to members of the Public to walk in and watch at the time they were shown. I would have thought that a breach of Copyright would have to be based upon the person publishing making a Profit out of it. But I am not a Lawyer. It would be great to see the Org lose, and to see Costs fully awarded to Faithleaks !

I received my E-mail, thank you very much!
I do like to be, not just up to date, but ahead of the JW's with what is going on in their LaLa land. It is especially useful to me today, as I shall steel myself and contact some of my JW family later. Wish me luck, I shall need to be circumspect with how I reply to all the " End Times" rubbish I shall have to listen to !

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

The guy who swam through his Sheep Dip was certainly free of Ticks ! I guess it would have washed off the Flu' thing as well.
As to Smoking, I did wonder when I heard that smokers seemed less affected, that if their Lungs are full of Gunk and Gunge the 'rona Virus may not be able to latch on so easily ? Who knows ?
The danger is that a Smoker having a good cough up, not knowing the Virus has entered his or her body, will presumably expel more of the Virus than usually in to the Air.
