The other hopeful new treatment may well come from the Llama/ Alpaca group of animals. They have been proven to develop Nano antibodies, tiny ones, that act against the Virus, and earlier iterations of it. This will probably have to be administered as a method of fighting against the disease, not a prophylactic, and I guess will involve the transfusion of Blood, so J.W's will die through lack of it.

I really cannot remember the first time, but it was without doubt in my early Teens, and an embarrassing number of times subsequently. The funny one I remember was when we were staying at a friends Apartment, just the wife and I , we had no kids then, and the guy whose Flat it was ended the evening of long drinking by us sharing a bottle of fine Whisky.
In the morning, I visited the Bathroom/Toilet, as you do, still thoroughly pissed, and forgot the door SLID, I tried to pull it open, in the process managed to pull the handle off, and fell back in to the Bath, laughing like an idiot !

Infidelity amongst JWs
by YellowLab indoes there seem to be a higher incidence of infidelity amongst the jws?.
my brother, who is an active jw and ministerial servant, has an elder friend who was recently disfellowshipped for having an affair with another sister in the hall.
it turns out this sister was divorced a few years earlier from a "worldly" man who had an affair on her.

From my personal experience, I have a feeling Infidelity may be a bit higher than other religions among JW's, and possibly a bit higher than among the general public ??
I knew of many cases in our own Congo. and surrounding ones. One big case happened in a close by Congo, actual wife swapping involving M.S's as well as ordinary JW's.
I was "offered it on a plate" at least three or four times, two were just horny sisters wanting me to shag them, maybe nothing more, one I got dangerously close to actually going ahead, it was flirting that led eventually to me being infatuated, but never did I weaken, I am so glad, to have sacrificed my marriage would have been the worst decision of my life. And I learned in the end that the girl I was infatuated with was an utter witch, and simply wanted out from her marriage. She engineered a Divorce, quite how I am not sure, her husband was a nice guy, before that had gone through she latched on to a JW guy about 10 years younger than her, and eventually married him.
One Elder said to me that " we have had every sin in our Congregation, except Murder". True for most Congos. I guess.

Religious Affiliation
by Anna Marina inuk court case - does anyone know if there are actual court cases docs online to do with a may 12th news item on the watchtower's official website?.
the news item says that the court of appeal of england and wales dismissed an application to appeal a decision of the high court upholding the watchtower's right to follow bible directives regarding disfellowshipping.. it's proving difficult to find online docs about this..

Having read through the Court Documents, one thing struck me, the Judge Ruled that the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, if it made a decision on its own, it would not make the Watchtower Society of G.B. vicariously liable for that decision. The CCJW is an independent , non-profit Charity, and as such has no great funds, and so, any Legal Action against them, cannot expect to get huge, probably deserved, payouts.
Any future legal Action that seeks damages and Costs should NOT seek them against this body, if liability, arising from say an Abuse claim, can be proved to be having a connection to Watchtower. This ruling may affect Court decisions in the U.S.A. which has a similar legal entity, staffed by JW's who have made a Vow of Poverty, if I recall. This is an attempt, by the J.W org. to avoid rightful compensation to Abuse victims in the main it seems.
I would like to find out if the poor bro. who was never paid back his Loan while this Case was in progress, ever got his money ???? I rather doubt it.

Memories of Maryland Conventions!
by Atlantis inposting for brother x. petra!.
if you were a child during the years of 1960 to 1970, the question isn't; do you remember these conventions?
the question is; how could you forget?

I remember many bum-numbing bored to tears time at Conventions in the U.K, I used to come away after the last day slightly depressed, I could never understand people who said the enjoyed them, apart from maybe young people on the pull.
One time we sat behind a friend from our Congregation, who was saving a good number of seats, a little upstart Attendant told him he could not save so many seats, my friend said " But they are for my family", the little Hitler said well can you move the books saving seats for your family, and I will find you somewhere else " (Why ? just to show his power ? ) my friend said " O.K. That's fine, if you can find somewhere better for all of us", Protonazi asked " How many seats does your family require ? ", my friend answered " 23" ! Which was true ! all his extended family from various parts of the Country were turning up. Little Hitler scuttled off, and said no more.

Midweek Meeting looooooooong prayers.
by Davros inone thing that aggravates me is long concluding prayers, especially at the midweek meeting.
you work all day, rush home, grab a quick bite, dress up in meeting clothes.
then, go to the meeting.
-
Phizzy
I remember two funny occasions where loooooooong Prayers were involved, the first was at a Circuit Convention, the guy went on and on, obviously trying to impress the C.O and D.O. with how "spiritual" he was, all of a sudden, a bro from our Congregation had had enough, and slammed his briefcase shut, stood up and loudly said " I've had enough of this !" and stomped out ! I really admire him for that !
The second was when an Elder was obviously the worse for drink, he had been slurring his words when he took one of the parts on the Service Meeting, some fool asked him to do the final prayer, not only did it go on, it was incomprehensible and the slurring had got worse !
He was taken to task at the next meeting by the other Elders, and admitted he had enjoyed " just a Wee Dram" ( he was Scottish) before coming to the meeting, but said he has mixed it by mistake with some Anti-biotics he was taking, and they had multiplied the effects of that Wee Dram ! They accepted his excuse, and no further action was taken .

A thesis: The Discursive Construction of Freedom in the Watchtower Society
by AndersonsInfo ina thesis: the discursive construction of freedom in the watchtower society.
https://ris.cdu.edu.au/ws/portalfiles/portal/24632569/thesis_cdu_24577264_chester_h.pdf .
be aware, this thesis, although supremely stimulating, thought-provoking, fascinating, attention-grabbing, remarkable, noteworthy, and appealing, the author made use of out of the ordinary, worthy of note, and fascinating words and statements that, for the reader of average intelligence (like me), make for laborious reading.

Thank you Barbara, for Posting this , you have given me something interesting to read during Lock Down !
These are just my first thoughts, having read about 5 chapters, got a bit bored, and skipped to the Conclusion.
I like the analogies used, one to the human body, and one to an org. with similarities, Alcoholics. Anon.
The first gave me an insight in to why many of us were , and many of today's JW's are, happy to serve, for free, the " Body". I think this willingness to serve for this mainly unconscious reason, may even be a big part of the motivation of the G.B.
The other analogy with A.A is good. To my certain knowledge the J.W org has helped a good number to break free from addiction, stay free, and make a good life for themselves. Two such people that I know well, would be dead by now had it not been for J.W's, and the org's method.
In the Conclusion, I was struck by the two things that are mentioned as the main problems for the Org. going forward. One was the Internet, which of course Apostates contribute to, profusely, but the Net itself is a problem. Knowledge in the form of verifiable Facts and Evidence is readily available there (here).
The other problem identified is the lack of Higher Education within the org. The suggestion is made that Study Rooms could be made available in K.H's ( when they re-open !), and even Pioneers could be encouraged to gain some Higher Education that way. I can see a problem with that, the org's penchant for rigid Control will want to make sure that the information does not rock the faith of some, and of course, they dare not encourage the development of Critical Thinking Skills. So, very different from a Uni. education.
I will read all of it, and comment more later, no doubt.

Hi Petra ! yes, we were an unusual Congregation for the time, nearby Congregations more than likely made more of the 1975 rubbish than ours did.
We were made up of very old folks who numbered only a few, and young ones who had grown up there, or moved in. The Elders were all "young" at the time, bar one. All of these young guys were NOT " Little Grey Society Men" as they used to call those who used to blindly tow the line.
Shortly before I moved in, an Elder was moved there to be Congregation Servant, just pre-Elders, as the C.O was concerned things were not being done properly. He was a a reasonable guy, and told me when he got there, nobody wore a Tie on the Platform etc, none of the normal Rules stuff. That attitude continued for years, though ties were agreed to be worn. One C.O told me that he had been told by the outgoing C.O to fear going to us, we were all rebels ! The young Elders were pretty well equipped with bullshit detectors, for J.W's.
I never owned a suit for many a year, and gave Public Talks in a jacket and kind of matching trousers (pants). And gave those talks wearing a beard, for many years.I think the easy going attitude of our probably unique Congregation, and its very good Social Life, delayed my waking up and departing much longer than if I had been elsewhere, sadly.

Hilarious JW Wikipedia edits
by neat blue dog injehovah's witnesses are funny in that most have no objective, self-aware view of themselves.
they think they are the center of the universe, that their beliefs are undeniable facts, and are generally very entitled.
yet another added this:.

At least they are getting to read the facts on Wiki. A seed or two of doubt may be planted, even if in " Stony Ground".
