Some K.H's that were sold have ended up being Mosques or used by other Christian sects, I always think that is funny !

What`s the reason some of you think JW`s are in decline ?
by smiddy3 infrom what i can see no such thing is happening.i became a jw in 1960 and remained for about 30 years and the numbers of active jw`s today in the world are far greater than they were back then.. and here in australia the numbers are much higher than they were back then .. so i don`t see that their in decline or have any worries about losing support .. don`t the numbers speak for themselves ?.
is it just wishful thinking on your part ?.

One aspect of "decline" is not so much in numbers, but in the presence in their midst of the 100% J.W believer, who goes along with all the nonsense.
All the J.W's I have spoken to in the last couple of years expressed their doubts about it being 100% "the truth. When I was in the number of people who I would rate as full believers* was well over 90%. Most are now in just for family and friends, not belief.
* By full believer I don't mean the out and out fanatic J.W, there were some of them, but those who supported nearly all of it, if having underlying doubts perhaps.

My neighbour's views on J.W's
by Phizzy ini came across a thread on a site for neighbours, which includes quite a wide area really, many square miles containing a lot of villages, and a couple of towns.
it is so we can swap unwanted goods, inform each other of local crimes and scams etc, and we can vent.. there was a post that said the lady did not want this crap coming through her door, a letter and a tract from a j.w.
i won't post the thread here , as at least one xjw is on there, but all the comments below her post were anti-jw !

Yes "Stan", I'm the same, was deeply ashamed to be a J.W when very young, and kept quiet abut it through adult hood, until I left, then I talk about it, if it comes up. Everyone I have spoken to either knew someone or was an ex or sort of. The last lady I spoke to in a shop where I was buying a present for a J.W whose anniversary it was, told me she attended from her very early years until her teens.
I had explained I wanted something a bit special, as J.W's don't get Birthday and Christmas prezzies, so an Anniversary one is a bit special. That's when she told me, and hinted she stopped going because some Bro. was a bit "strange" toward her, ........yea, I thought that too !
What has amazed me is that the general Public don't know anything much about JDubs, some confuse them and Mormons.
But as I said in the O.P, lots seem to be getting really pissed off with the J.W "preaching" methods, good !

I think the return to annoying people with DtoD will be harder than the JW's imagine, they have already annoyed people with unsolicited Letters !

Wing Commander, I rather err on the side of thinking their figures for active J.W's may be not too far off. But they base the figures on slips of paper, "Reports" that are mainly fiction, and therefor not from full-on believers.
I have not spoken to that many J.W's in the last year say, but the handful I did talk to ALL expressed doubts of a serious nature. Lets be generous, and give 'em 8,000,000 worldwide, but how many of those REALLY believe ?
The Daily Fail and Independent picking up on all this will cause more to doubt !

What would Watchtower Corporation(tm) do?
by punkofnice inwhat would watchtower corporation(tm) do in compromise of their 'north korean style rules' if by publicly removing them, they could get more money and power?.
if each governing body(tm) member (pee be upon them), were offered a few million quid/bucks each to rescind the barbaric 'no whole blood' rule?.
i know what i think these fake religionists would do.
-
Phizzy
Rescinding the blood nonsense would maybe involve them in lawsuits by family members, because of the ones who died until they received New Light ( really a huge deposit in their Bank accounts according to your scenario).
I think the G.B members when first appointed are full on believers, if perhaps ambitious and suffering from the Dunning-Krueger effect, but when they have seen the process that governs Doctrinal changes, then Cognitive Dissonance sets in , with some. Some will remain full on believers.
Whatever, I don't see them making any major changes soon.

To All Those Keen To Tell Us About Their Beliefs
by Simon inwe seem to have had an influx of religiots - the people who want to tell us all about how we / the wts / whoever are wrong, wrong, wrong about everything and how right they are.
they obviously have special insight, or voices (probably voices, right?
) telling them the real truth.. as proof, there is inevitably a wall of random scripture references and quotes.. sorry, but we're not here for that.

" Of course people often view all Christians through the lens of Evangelical Christianity. "
This is sad, because as has been pointed out, even in the USA, Loony Evangelicals are a minority, and I imagine there are many Church communities like yours Jan, over the Pond.
Locally near me in the U.K there are some vibrant Churches with wonderful, loving communities of members, which some may confuse with the more extreme types of Church, but they are not, they don't even pressure preach when you display lots of interest, it is all very loving.

Do you agree with this?
by vienne innew post to the history blog: https://truthhistory.blogspot.com/2023/05/typical-nonsense.html.
i agree that in the russell and rutherford eras there was little actual scriptural refutation.
fine!

It depends upon whether the guy's Prison Sentence was for something pertinent to the Paper you quote, otherwise I agree with your mum's judgement, you don't wish to be appearing to be making a pointless ad hominem attack upon him.
In the cases of Russell and Rutherford, truthful reporting of their shortcomings, misdemeanours and in Rutherford's case, crimes, is very relevant and important to write about.
