" Not that any of this really matters. " Exactly, though I have enjoyed the discussions on this, especially the erudite contributions from those like Leolaia, none of this is relevant if no one can prove that "Jesus" ever existed.

Is there “new light” on 1914?
by wallsofjericho ini’m hearing paraphrasing like “we just don’t know” .
is this regarding 1914?
or micheal the arch angel?.

" But JWs don’t really care what the Bible actually says. " neither does "Scholar", Eisegesis as used by Scholar and the J.W's is simply NOT the way to understand what the Bible says, and is rightly dismissed and ridiculed as a method by REAL Biblical Scholars !
Thank you for your comments here Jeffro, and the excellent work you did in the past on the 1914 Tosh, all of your erudite work being confirmed by REAL Scholars from many disciplines.

Shaking Down Satan - WT Sues Norway
by Sea Breeze ini wonder how many witnesses are aware that the wt and their team of lawyers are currently suing the government of norway for millions of dollars?
i thought that the wt taught that all the governments were run by satan.
when i was a witness, this would have really bothered me.

Another Court case the org. will lose ? I certainly hope so ! and the Government of Norway are right, completely, not to fund such a terrible org. with Taxpayers money.
I presume J.W's will make a lot of spurious claims as to the nature of "Shunning", the lying bastards always do.
It will be interesting to watch this unfold !

Fading is better then completely leaving...comments?
by Witness 007 ini got the internet in my house and realised it's all lies....but as a pioneer/ministerial servant i chose to fade.
see i had family and friends who were fully strict witnesses.
so i played the poor lost soul brother who is not sure what's happening.

Your circumstances and decision are very similar to mine when I left. Depending on an individuals circumstances, "fading" is always the best option for most, it leaves you as free of the org. in reality as those formerly chucked out.
And you are still free to interact to a degree with J.W's. It does mean that if you wish to retain your status, you have to bite your tongue a lot in the company of J.W's, but that is a small price to pay.
However, I do believe people should do what they feel is best for them, with the caveat that disassociating or whatever is hard to undo, and so it is advisable to let considerable time pass before a decision is made.
At first I longed to be "free" or the Org. and so considered disassociating, but as the years have passed I bless my decision not to. In reality faders are the most free out of all those that have left, and any perceived "hold" the org. still has over us is worth it. The only "hold" they still may have is having to watch our words, but as time has gone on I find myself more free to speak my mind anyway.
Since leaving I have lived my life as I wish to do, I Vote, I donate Blood, I celebrate Christmas and Birthdays with gusto ! I always felt that if I was DF'd for doing so I would suck that up, but I would not allow the Org. to prevent me living as I do. It never happened, despite the J.W family seeing my Christmas Tree a couple of years ago !
All the best to you, and any who have left the Org ! My son said the other day to another "fader" that "it is the best thing I ever did in my life, leaving the J.W's" , so true !

A Rogues Gallery if ever there was one ! all those men have Blood on their Hands ! The dreadful J.W Doctrines and practices, such as the Blood Doctrine and Shunning have been responsible for many thousands of deaths over the last many decades.
And yet, seeing the Pics. is triggering pleasant memories for me, of the good times I had as a JW, growing up with JW friends and having a great time socially.

My parents did not really shun me when I left but I am now breaking their hearts…
by sinboi inif they have shunned me and chase me out of the house when i leave the cult, i would not give a damn.
i can still feel their love and concern for me even now.. though i have moved out voluntarily when i joined the army, i am afraid that the life i am living now will break their hearts.
i am now a bartender in a bar and am cohabiting with a woman.

I was told by a JW relative that I had broken my mother's heart when I left, it was on the tip of my tongue to say to him " But my heart was broken in that she never grew up spiritually and hung on to childish beliefs " or similar. Which was true, I was really cut up that until she died she stuck with her beliefs, which included no longer having a proper relationship with me anymore. Not full on J.W shunning, but simply family business only with mum.
I didn't say it, because he was shortly about to die, I knew this would be our last conversation, and I wanted it to end on a pleasant note, we had been related and friends for over six decades.
What I am trying to say is that the responsibility for any emotional pain felt by the JW's in our close family, and pain felt by us, is ,in fact, down to THEM.

by RULES & REGULATIONS inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh9w8zmgli0.

The use of Proverbs 4v18 is a blatant misquoting of Scripture, which is adding to Scripture, an act that is Sinful, as outlined elsewhere in the Bible.
Proverbs 4 is about the Righteous Man who, as he lives his life, sees his Pathway ever clearer, which is true. To apply it in any other way is disingenuous and dishonest in the extreme.
And to imagine the Holy Spirit/Jehovah would reveal anything that was plainly in error is Blasphemy. God cannot Lie !
A lot of their former "understanding" caused death and suffering,in the distant past being against Vaccines for example, as does the still promoted, and similarly false interpretation of Scripture, that is their murderous Blood Doctrine.
They truly are False Prophets and Shameless Charlatans !

Is The GB Paranoid? And Should They Be?
by NotFormer inthe gb seems to have a bunker mentality, that they are special, and that the world is out to get them, so they tend to keep within their tightly controlled, protective environment.
bottlegate proved that there is some danger outside of the rarified atmosphere of their echo chamber; you never know when a camera might be trained on you, or that someone might recognise you as being something more than plain old "joe citizen".
further, tm3's new address was quickly found and distributed, and (as i understand it) someone drove to his gated community to tell the security guard that tm3's "ass is grass".

" I honestly don’t think authoritarian leaders actually experience cognitive dissonance, and, in fact, are unable to understand people who do."
Well, the buggers DESERVE to have a good dose of it then !
I wonder what you base your conclusion on please ?
I am interested in trying to get a handle on their "thinking",

Art Lessons
by peacefulpete inlast night's jeopardy match made reference to sandro botticelli the famous italian renaissance painter and his painting the birth of venus.
it led me to read more about his story.
you can follow the links to wiki to learn more, but in short, i wanted to focus on one of his later paintings, the mystical nativity.

Thanks P.P. Botticelli is an Artist that has not drawn my attention before, thought the name has gone in to common parlance because of his depictions of females with rather fulsome figures. And Savonarola's name was all that was known to me.
I am amazed at how so many periods have seen Apocalyptic fear engendered by a charismatic Preacher, and often by a date on the Calendar ! as happened in the year 1000 of course, inevitable that one !
But Savonarola's followers seem to be early iterations of other fanatical groups we have seen in later times, it shows the power of propaganda mixed with belief, something not lost upon today's Politicians !
Thanks again, I shall delve further !

Thoughts on annual meeting “new light”
by FFGhost inso, i finally saw the annual meeting video part 2.. this is the one with the “new light” on who might survive armageddon, vs. those who do not.. in summary, for those of you fortunate enough not to have to sit through it, it’s something like this:.
old light: once the “great tribulation” starts, that’s it for non-jws.
the “door of the ark” is closed.

Your question B B reminds me of the one I posed to a M.S. shortly after I left, I said " It is correct isn't it that anyone who dies before Armageddon gets to come back in the New System if they never heard the "Good news" ? he confirmed that was so then, so I said "Well then, would it not be better to take a gun with you on the D to D work, and shoot whoever opens the door dead ?".
Silly I know, but I wanted to highlight how silly their ideas were LOL.
