REALLY ????? In my time in those expenses were all covered by the local bros, apart from Stipends, which were a paltry few $$$, so is this huge figure a way of explaining away where some of the money has gone ?
the first two study articles of the latest wt raise the usual sense of urgency with more of the same theological quackery russell would be proud of.. first up, something we've always known, the embarrassing admission that jws think they are the center of the universe:.

it seems the news always has another report of a pedo stalking children or hurting them.

I agree LUHE with your "final solution", I mean conclusion LOL, because I cannot find it in me to fully agree with Capital Punishment. But the problem is that most Sex offenders are never reformed, at least not completely, they are still full of perverted desires, even if they refrain from actually carrying them out, and of course many do go on to re-offend.
So we, the long suffering Tax Payers, have to pick up the Tab for all those years in Prison that they rightfully spend.

i was talking with my sister and the subject of the wt using rahab as an exemplary example of theocratic warfare which is of course, lying.
when the wt uses her, they fail to highlight the fact that she was a temple prostitute and an unbeliever when she "saved" the spies.. i said you know, the wt doesn't use the most famous liar as an example.

Finky, the Bible's "History" is 98.776943 % Fiction, or thereabouts.
Moses and Aaron are fictional Characters, there was no Exodus from Egypt etc etc. and of course all of Judaism and subsequently Christianity can be traced back to what the Hebrews/Israelites absorbed from Egyptian and Canaanite religious beliefs and practices.
i was listening to a radio show about a jw women who had been disfellowshiped , her daughter cut off all contact ,must admit at the time i thought so what.. then this man phoned up and explained he was disfellowshiped for asking about jws being ngo in the united nations during 90s till early 2000s when a newspaper exposed them , i still thought he's a apostate but looked it up found the article then found this forum and even more info..
I was born in, became more and more interested in what the Bible really said, and one day decided to read the Book of Daniel with an open mind, got to Chapter 4, realised there was no way you could extrapolate from that the 2500 years that led to 1914, unless you were slightly bonkers.
At that point the whole JW Org teaching collapsed like a House of Cards. No 1914= no choosing of an FDS in 1919= the GB are self-appointed charlatans.
It wasn't long before I walked away for good, I gave an Elder the chance to come back to me and prove 1914, as he felt sure he could, he never came back.
a few weeks ago i had an really interesting conversation with three male jws who were loitering around a trolley at the west end of princes street in edinburgh.. i managed to completely avoid giving any hint about my jw past and focussed on why they thought the bible was a reliable moral guide.
i used the subject of slavery to illustrate my concerns.. one of the three was in his early twenties, knew a lot about his own beliefs but nothing about the real life and it was difficult to get through his thought-bubble.
the second one was in his 60s and not very bright.

I bet it does, even if he does what I did for many a year, sadly, which is to tuck such information and the conclusions it brought, right in to the depths of ones mind, but it is still there, and gradually builds up the feeling of mental struggle, which I now realise is Cognitive Dissonance.
After many years this feeling got so strong and disturbing, and frankly depressing, that I allowed myself to open mindedly research On Line, I soon found some excellent resources, was amazed at how many people were troubled by the same things as me, and soon found this wonderful Site.
I left the Org for good a few months later. Let us hope this happens to Andrew !
