I have reached the stage where it no longer affects me hardly at all when they go in to cult mode and do the old " return to J" nonsense. I simply respond in a polite way, which gives no validity to their beliefs in any way.

It is frustrating that you simply cannot have a normal conversation with them, where your point of view is accorded the same respect as they expect for theirs, and I find it a strain that I have to be so careful what I say lest I offend them, and they decide never to speak again. But that is the way it is, it is unfair, one sided, but Cults do not do fairness, along with many other things we normal civilised people do.

how do the congregation view the inactive ones who no longer associate?

not with disdain, we are told but as lost sheep “still our brothers “ it is said that god loves them and they too must do what they can to help them.. why have we strayed ?

I look at them from the outside now obviously, and my main emotion is Pity.

I have been there, feeling the Cognitive Dissonance, "If this religion is supposed to make us all so happy, why are we all really so miserable, deep inside ?"

"What a waste of time, and waste of life !, pretending to "witness" to people when none of it has any effect".

" Can this, really THIS, be the "truth" ??".

I pity them, for not finding The Road To Freedom and Happiness that I, and so many Ex JW's have found. We now lead fulfilled, valuable lives, with people who love us without conditions, and we are FREE ! Free from the oppression of the Org, the constant bullying to "do more", and the worry of Armageddon or "displeasing god", FREE from all that and more.

Yes, I pity those poor folks, and wish they too would find what we have found, a Life Worth Living, what is truly, The Best Life Ever !

Tonight's Meeting

during tonight's meeting the brother seemed to read out something along the lines of "you may be helping a poor sister who you think may be struggling, but in turn that sister may be getting financial assistance from the government.

it is always best to stick to jehovah's arrangement in these matters so that help can get to those who most need it, including the worldwide work".

i think it may have been an article about social media platforms initially and how they should be avoided and then this was mentioned.

Even when I was a believing active J.W, I was most uncomfortable with their "only give your money to us" line. I had not seen one shred of evidence in all the years I was in that they actually did anything Charitable with the money.

I now know I was right about that, and how Greedy and Evil they are to deny the chance of people who need it to receive funds donated by JW's who have at least a small bit of Social Conscience !

Money grubbing, self-serving and with no Compassion or Love, that is the Governing Body, and those who pull their strings, for they are puppets of course.

i paid £6 for it which was probably too much.

but it was the only way i could get a copy.

Thanks for the info. LUHE, I think this may not be a Film for me, I tend to get emotionally involved in very well presented Dramas , and end up being upset for a good while. I feel I want to get in there, and right the wrongs ! stop the Evil violence, make it all good for the protagonists.

I know it is often good to see such productions from the point of view of educating ourselves about the reality of such times, but this may not be for sensitive little me.

I shall keep an eye out for future work by Jennifer Kent, and by Aisling Franciosi, so thanks again for the heads up !

What is REALLY behind the destruction of the Postal Service? I decided to research it ...

i don't know about you - but i never know when i'm being lied to or told the truth any longer.

partisans are tribes warring on truth.

i decided to see what i could find out historically and this is what i've come up with.

There are a number of Public Services that quite obviously cannot be run on Capitalist, profit making, lines. As I said earlier I think, the Postal Service is one, Public Transport is another, the Police Service, the Health Service, I could go on and on.

The point is that these Services DO "make a profit", but in hidden ways that do not show up on a conventional Balance Sheet. Just think, a healthier population will produce more, and pay more Tax, reducing Crime reduces Costs, and more Tax flows in, if people pay less to get to work, they spend more and the Economy booms, a fully functioning Postal Service means businesses work at greater efficiency and therefore pay more Tax. And so on.

A basic grasp of Economics like this shows you where the current Model has failed, and will continue to do so.

As many a Meme says " Change my Mind".

As I said on another thread Cofty, believing something to be true, with close to zero evidence, is to me indistinguishable form Delusion, and Delusion is a serious mental problem.

This is not to be nasty to believers, I feel they need to wake up to their parlous state, because if they don't , their lives will not be as they should be, and they are so easily misled. Happiness, and fulfilment, does not lie that way, no matter what you have been told.

The problem is twofold with this, one, metaphors are open to lots of different interpretations, and two, if it nearly all comes down to metaphor, then it really is all a matter of faith, or belief, and that means trusting that something is true, with zero evidence, which, to my mind is indistinguishable from delusion, and Delusion is a very serious mental problem.

That means that all Bible believers suffer from a serious Mental Problem.

As a lot of memes say " change my mind".

" reported as eyewitnesses of Christ's words, life, miracles and resurrection ". As far as I can see it is extremely doubtful if any writer of the books we have in the N.T was an eyewitness.

" Take the Holy Spirit out of the equation and you have nothing. " So it comes down to "Faith", simply trusting that any of it is true, though there is not one shred of evidence.

Worldwide Campaign Nov 2020

thanks petra and atlantis for sending the latest letter regarding the watchtowers plan for a worldwide campaign in november this year.

i am wondering what they are planning to achieve from this campaign, particularly their focus on sending the watchtower 2020 no.

2, titled "what is god's kingdom" to politicians, governments (and tribal leaders) around the world.. it would appear that this is their answer to governments who have put them in the spot light for their bad policies, particularly their handling of child abuse.

They get more and more silly by the day. What a Silly Cult ! (be careful how you say that.)

I think this sort of campaign springs form two things, the first is that they still have the old Rutherford Ego of thinking they are far more important upon the World scene than they really are. They are simply a flea bite on an Elephants arse, a slight annoyance that makes little difference, if any.

The second is to make JW's feel they are doing something important, and that the " End" is near. The only "End" that is near is that of those magazines, they will end up in trash cans and Dumpsters all over the World.

What a Silly Cult !
