Classless American Behavior
by Pathofthorns ini was watching the hockey game yesterday and i thought i heard 'booing' during canada's national anthem.
earlier in the week the same thing occurred during the raptor's playoff game.. as some are aware canada has been mourning and burying their 4 dead soldiers due to the incompetence of an american fighter pilot who dropped a bomb on them while they were carrying out training exercises.
flags are flying at half-mast as canadians try to make sense of such a careless mistake.. i find it hard to believe any civilized person would show such disrespect to another country to 'boo' them during their national anthem at any time, and more so during a time of mourning because of death caused directly by american hands.. i sincerely hope american media chastised their countrymen who showed such insensitive, classless, ignorant and disrespectful behavior to their neighbours.

path, ignorant people are so annoying [>:(] i feel the need to apologize for their rude behavior. booing the other team is fine but not during the national anthem! argh! no respect.

i had four hours into my brand new job making $18.00 and hour which would have topped out at $25.00 in two months when i got this quezzy feeling in my chest and became light headed and weak kneed.
one of the girls looked out her office door and said, "do you need help?" raising my head off the the lumber pile i answered, "yes, i think i'm having a heart attack?" the pari-medics arrived within minutes ushered me to dessert spring critical care center in las vegas, nv.

by LyinEyes ini was just wondering if you have a movie or some movies that have given you the creeps.

alien definately freaked me out, didn't help my sister purposely would scare me thru-out the whole thing! and in hannibal, i had to watch the brain eating part between my fingers! ewwwwwwwwwwwwww :)
but a movie called altered states is the one that takes the cake for me. i was tripping on lsd with a group of friends. halfway thru the movie my brain is screaming "turn it off! turn it off!" i was scrambling for the remote and freaking out. finally i get the damn thing turned off. i think (hard time recalling now) that there was lots of trippy demon scenes and it was just too much for me to take in that state. i then proceeded to freak out and spiral into a really horrible trip. last time i ever did acid. no thanks, never want to experience that again!
here's a little bit about the movie. i got this from a website recommending drug movies and movies to trip too.
1980
• William Hurt (A.I., Silent Witness)
• Blair Brown (Hamlet, The Astronaut's Wife)
• Drew Barrymore (Charlies Angels, Never Been Kissed)
Lemme first say that this movie is Sci-Fi. Some may enjoy this movie while others won't. This movie is about a research scientist who experiments with altered states of human consciousness. He starts using Amanita Muscaria in his sensory deprivation tank, and thats when the Sci-Fi begins... I was somewhat very surprised at the ending, with how dramatically the movie turned. I recommend this movie, especially if your into researching and studying psychadelics.

Ever straight out lied to the elders faces?
by MarchOn indid you ever get busted for something that you really did do when you were a dub and get hauled in, just to sit there and deny what you were brought in for?
and then feel really good and not quilty when you pulled it off because they believed you?
-
peaceloveharmony
yup i sure did lie to their faces! i was busted for smoking and my parents turned me in to the elders. my meeting went something like this:
are you still smoking?
no
why did you start?
peer pressure
will you continue?
no way, i'm really sorry i ever tried them! i'll never smoke again!
blah, the sorry i ever tried them now is true but back then i just said what i knew they wanted to hear so i could leave the scary back room. and after that i was a lot more careful about where i hid my ciggies. i really hated how devious i was, how easy it was for me to lie to escape punishment from the elders and my parents. god i'm glad i'm outta that religion!

Are teenagers old enought to get baptised?
by sleepy ini, like many on this board got baptised when still a teenager (17).. at the time i thought i knew what i was doing and could take full responsibility for my actions.. 10 years later i realise i knew very little back then compared to what i know now.. was i old enought to make my mind up?.
or could we always at any age ,be looking back at things we did wrong thinking if only i knew what i know now?.
actually how much responsibility can we hold over what we did as teenagers .weren't we pushed by the congregation and parents, we had little knowledge of anything else being force fed the "truth" since babies.. at such a young age aren't we much more vulnerable to brainwashing ?.

alan,
in most countries a person under 18 cannot be held legally responsible for entering into a "legal" agreement. Thus, until the person is 18 that baptism is technically unenforceable if someone wanted to push the issue in the courts. However, if the person continues as a JW much past his or her 18th birthday, then he or she becomes a de facto JW by reason of publicly declaring, by their conduct, that they have as an adult validated their baptismal vow.
in my case i was baptized at 15 and disassociated at 17, so i lose out because i validated their silly rules by da'ing right, even though i did everything under-age? this is a sticking point with my family. i keep telling them that my baptism and da are invalid since i was a minor and had no right entering into a contract at that age. doesn't seem to get thru my parents nor siblings head though. grr. thanks for the info alan. -
