  i was raised in a city hall.

  it was pretty evenly split.

  i wasn't raised in a blacks vs. whites environment.

  I think JWs have convert racism rather than overt or outright racism.

  They gave a perceived idea of racial harmony, which is why in the US congregations, a huge portion of the JW make-up are "minorities", esp black people. This religion focused on recruiting "minorities" especially in the 50's, 60's, and 70's where they were still fighting for basic civil rights and it promised an equalitarian society inside the constructs of their religious organization. However, I till remember being taught that the black race was a cursed race. I still remember being taught very stereotypical things about black people and blaming it on "genetics" and "the bible". I still remember black people not holding many positions of power, but again, you will see a lot of "minorities" that were encouraged by the treatment of equality, but talk to many that have left and you will hear or read something quite different.

  I support this movie. People need to tell their story without fair of judgement. There are too many of us that have suffered in silence.

  I have said it time and time again, the JW "religion" breaks up families.

  As for someone who is questioning facts and not hearsay. Every person that gives you the FACTS of their own experience needs to be validated, to even question that makes me extremely sad to read. Whose "truth" should you believe? The one that people have experienced in the thousands, maybe millions or this very controlled organization? Something to consider.

  I was so happy by this that I had to come online and post my joy over the court case.

  I hope more women that have suffered abuse in this organization realizes that they are not alone.

  Silent lambs and places like this forum allow us to come together to discuss this cult and how they hide pedophiles, child molsters, rapists, etc.

  I know of two cases where the elders knew that they had a pedophile and a known rapist and they allowed them to operate in their organization with immunity. And let's not talk about the amount of women who have went before the elders for help and have been accused of bringing it on themselves by how they dress, etc. Remember now, women are viewed as "less than men" in this cult.

  it was never enough.. i remember the first time as a kid i comprehended that i could never do enough for the organization.. a circuit overseer was giving a talk and said,:.

  sunday is meeting, and since you are dressed up you might as well do some field service after the meeting.. monday you should spend an hour or so in the evening preparing for the book study on tuesday.. tuesday is book study.. wednesday should be time for your family study, personal study, or preparation for all three.

  It is all about control. The more you are instructed to do what they tell you, the less time you will have free thought and define yourself. The more that you believe you have to follow this closed routine, the more you will be socially conditioned to their way of doing things. It interjects control, fear, and guilt...all tactics of cult teaching.

  This is a very interesting topic. I think someone considering doing this is a pretty interesting thing. The only reason you want to go back is because you want to maintain contact with some of your family. That's a shame, but for some people that's the only way. I always maintain that this cult breaks up families.

  I know the area you are moving very well, OP. I don't get on here much but if you PM today, I may be able to help with your transition.

  i've been in lurkmode lately, but with the news that i heard about don cornelius dying, it had me thinking...as this world goes on, and people are coping with this world...i think a lot jw's are going to realize that the end of the world isnt coming...there gonna become more despert, the realities of having to work, pay off debts, etc.

  a lot of jw's are going to realize that no magical sky daddy is come and 'take away there problems' and i think the more that they start to realize this, they get older, and there gonna start hating the reality that they have to face.

  i had a good friend who's father-in- law (who was a ministrial servant) who had bipolar disorder, killed himself in his car back in 2007. it was sad.

  I can understand where the OP is coming from. I have been really busy with work this last week, so I am playing "catch up" on the forum.

  I have always had this feeling that at some point the JW religion and their Armageddon prophecy was going to force the organization to do something drastic. I have surmized that they would try to get a sector of them to live on a certain plot of land and get "ready for it" like Noah and the Arc. I also see them doing something even more drastic or even a small segment creating a suicide pact or mission within. I can definitely see it happening. I foresee a huge falling off in the next decade.

  Personally, I would force the hand of your ex-wife before even attempting to get involved with her again. This religion can such a huge hurdle in a relationship, I would not do anything until she left the cult/borg and then tried to start a life. I definitely wouldn't rush into anything. I also think you should level with your current girlfriend and tell her you need some time to figure things out, but don't do it before you have a conclusive game plan for where you are living, etc

  It is something you will have to weigh and figure out on your own, but maybe it is best to spend some time away from both women and then figure it out for yourself. No one can tell you the right thing to do because only you know, but try to stay away from the religious component as much as possible and just focus on what you want in your future.

  Why did you allow a known pedophile to work with children in field service?

  Why have you allowed men that have committed adultery get off without even a public admonishing and yet others disfellowshipped without a thorough investigation?

  Why are women attacked for being raped by brothers, but the brothers embraced?

  Do you know that your children are psychotic and dangerous?
