  New forum 'parousia' is upon us! (software version)

  the time has nearly come to switch over to the new forum software.

  of course it's not completely finished yet (and never will be) but i think it's good enough to go live with and probably already better than the current one.

  i'll give you a quick overview of what to expect and post more detail about the changeover process later.. cloud platform.

  Hi Minimus! As Blueblades 12 years too. I sent Simon mail to see if he can restore my name on here and have not heard from him yet. So, I am using Darwin because that is where I am at now in my understanding of Evolution.

  Taking the Bible "too" literally

  i once heard it said that the only people who care about what the bible says are the village priest and the village atheist.

  it seems to me most believers only care about "god's word" in very general terms and think it's all up to interpitation (religion a la carte ).. it the watchtower especially good at making agnostics and atheists because of their fundamentalism or is this true of many ex-religious groups?.

  I have come to understand that when one studies and starts using their thinking ability in all fields of disciplines which involves many branches of knowledge one will come to know that much of what we are taught growing up is not true. For example on your question of taking the Bible "too" literal. There is much information out there that argue that crucial evidence or a telling lack of evidence suggests that many of the most famous stories in the Bible reflect the world of the later authors rather than actual historical facts.

  As to whether or not jw and other religious groups cause one to become agnostic or atheists only each person can tell us about that.

  i think that many of them were saints.

  some were bitches and others seemed like they hated their status.

  many wives were very good examples and were more "qualified" than their elder husbands.. .

  More proof that the history of ancient Israel and so-called sacred texts is written by man and has nothing to do with a Jehovah Yahweh God Creator holy power whatever invisible spirit that has not revealed itself to humanity. So, we can use the bible writings against itself and see that it does not add up to a God inspired book just a history of a group of people living in the fear of death and whatever comes after .   let's start with a very basic common sense question.. if you needed surgery would you go to a graduate of medical school who had been practicing for awhile,.

  or would you go to an amateur who told you god would be telling him how to peform surgery?.

  Terry, She is one of many captives of a concept. Don Cameron's Anatomy of an Illusion,Captives of a Concept, explains that the concept that holds Jehovah's Witnesses captive is their belief that the Watctower Society is God's organization. A study of their history gives evidence that it is not. However it is so very hard to get them to hold still even to discuss Matthew 24:45-47 using Proclaimers of God's of Kingdom book. Its so very sad.

  I know that you know this. BTW. I am half way through your book,"Wept". Talk about it later.
