i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!

Sorry if I was too harsh but I was just being honest. I don't understand why when something can't be explained it is given definition by imiginatiions. There is no proof to back up these definitions. Yes the experience in there but the proof of definition is not. If reincarnation is true wouldn't that experience be shared by all? If it is true, why is there not substantial proof of it. I think there is more evidence of such reincarnation-like experiences being reorganized experiences in our minds then some other life. Hum. Hum. blah blah blah. Anyways. i know i'm probably being dense here, but i was wondering why in the book of john, at 5:22 jesus says "moreover the father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgement to the son" but then in 12:47, 48 he says "as for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, i do not judge him.

I think the context is the clue. In the one scripture he was indeed identifying himself as the Judge. He also does in Matthew 25 when he speaks of seperating the Sheeps and Goats. But in the other scripture you mentioned he was making clear that really it's our actions and our will that decides our outcome. So, in that sense he dosn't judge us. He was trying to show his goodwill in this scripture, in the first one he was showing the responsibility given him. Hope this makes sense. chow

Intuition. We are what we have experienced. We are a collective conciousness. "ohhhhhh, I think I just had de ja vu and amnesia at the same time." How we humans like to attribute the celestial to little things. Its cute I guess. Naive, but arn't we all. When I read little thoughts like these I can't help but sigh. You open mind and effort to come to new conclusions is a good thing. Here are some basic answers to some of your questions, though not intended to contradict.

Why Jesus picked Paul to write so much of the scriptures was because of his zeal and love for what was great. God sees what people are like "not an accepter of faces, lit. or Not partial. He saw great potential with Paul and so used him.
Finally you have to keep in mind not all people are like Americans, that is many people speak more than one language. Greek was the common language of the time so that would be best for them to understand this message. As for the Old Testament, it was the foundation for the New Testament. It proved the identity of the Christ and was the accepted scriptures for the time. Blah blah keep on chow

nonetheless, the claims made by the bible itself seems conclusive enough upon close examination.. so why do recovering jws not question everything outright, rather than slowly, incrementally replacing doctrines.
The biggest problem I have with the trinity is putting lables on my faith. The trinity; what is that! Yes I am drawn to the unity of God and Jesus, and see the effects of the Holy spirit, and can see the inter workings of the three; but the trinity? There is so much in the Bible to work over and be convicted of but why throw in ideas that only lead to debates and divisions like "The Trinity". I don't have any problems with anyone else using that but the Bibles wording works fine for me. There were many new ideas that spread after the time Jesus was on Earth, John as a conclusion to the faith wrote a simple letter showing the clear, lucid thinking that would lead to salvation, to these I hold onto. "Who is the one that conquers the world but he who has faith that Jesus is the son of God?" 1 John 5:5

i`m trying to understand the process by which jw`s link the "faithful and discreet slave" parable to a belief that this refers to a number of people who will go to heaven ie: 144,000.. also, i am trying to understand how, by extension, some of this number comprise a "governing body" that is at the top of "jehovahs earthly organisation".. i really dont understand how these conclusions are reached and would appreciate some input.

The early movement believed Russell was the fullment of the 7th angel to the 7th congregation in the book of Revelation. The scripture in matt>24:45-47 was clearly an illustration exhorting christians to be awake and ready for Jesus at all times. Was Jesus in any way trying to identify a group in this passage? J.W's believe that the remaining ones of the 144,000 are the F.D.S. History tells us that there were around 10 million christians between the time of Christ and 3rd century. Yes, many were problematic and untrue but we have to imagine there were at least 144,000 true christians before Russell ever entered the picture. If you read the passages that talk about the 144,000 the idea of symbolisium is obvious. I'll stop blahing but I am with you on the F.D.S. it seems a little strange, but really up to par with this group, but a cult has to acquire some sort of authoritaive figurement in order to control the rest.
