fellow jw-com'ers:.
as excited as we are by the events announced by silent lambs and upcoming media attention, i would like to ask people to remember the many silent lambs who simply cannot speak or have not yet found their voice.. these victims should not be made to feel as second class people for their decision to remain silent.
i will not go into all the possible reasons why these victims remain silent.
I'm with you on that one Kis!

30 that seems to put jw's at a cross-roads?
i've known so many who have decided to abandon ship at either the age of 30 or either after 30 years of being baptized.
i fall into the former category.
Wow...I was 31 when I read Ray Franz's books. Something about reaching 30 and examining your life!

i posted this onto a previous thread, but wanted to start it on a new one as well.
as jws, we lack the "social outlet" all humans need, to have true friends one can speak openly and honestly with and not be afraid of judgmentalism.
what i've seen firsthand is that the "nucleus" of the congregation often has this need filled: elders, ms's, pioneers, and their families often do things together.
I know how you feel troubled....I went through the same myself (and many others too have experienced it).
Unlike the brothers and sisters in the Kingdom Hall, you can speak and express yourself here without fear of being judged by us (well, except for a few fanatic JWs that post here to harass those that need help).
As long as you're towing the party line to the point of fanaticism, you'll have invitations and (supposed) friends. But if things don't go that well for you, you're left out at a time when you need help the most. Incredible isn't it, but that's how this man made religion/cult makes its members act. Sad, actually.
The elders won't lift a finger to help you...but, should they hear that you might have done something outside of party policy...well...all of a sudden they'll have hours and hours available to pursue an investigation, in order to "keep the organization clean".
Whatever happened to the good shepperd that left the 99 sheep behind in order to find the one that had strayed?
I found out the hard way that the organization isn't all that loving. You don't have real friends that you can speak to...in reality, you're afraid to speak from your heart, because anyone hearing it could turn you in to the elders for things that you say that don't go along with the society's teachings. Kind of like a police state, isn't it? Say the wrong thing, and you're arrested and interrogated.
If you haven't read Raymond Franz's books, you might want to take a look at "In Search of Christian Freedom". It's an eye opener, and you'll realize the things that Ray says are true. He experienced first hand the "unloving" organization at work.

hello all: normally, i get between 20 to 30 security alerts per day, with a few hackers and trojans.
but .... today has been an all time record!.
172 security alerts!.
I've been watching the lights pinging on my cable modem also...but I'm not worried, since I'm using a Mac! :)
Right from the get go, I've had a web-based e-mail address...meaning I can check my e-mail from any computer in any country, and also that when I move or change internet service providers, my e-mail address never changes!
And, since the web-based e-mail services use the latest in anti-virus technology, they automatically scan all e-mails and attachments for viruses and neutralize them. That way, if you're checking your e-mail from an internet cafe or from someone elses computer (say you're out of the country on vacation), you won't be infecting them!
PCs.....between 40,000 to 50,000 worms& viruses, plus back doors for hackers to break into.
Macs....around 35 known micro-worms (micro, because unlike a PC, nothing can run in the background on the Mac...as far as I know. Meaning, when one of those worms trys to infect the Mac, you'll see it pop up on the screen right away). Also, no back doors on a Mac.
By the way...this is not a Mac vs PC debate...just giving out known figures from Dr. Norton regarding computer viruses.

this is my first time on a message board relating to anything jw.
i haven't posted anything in the past because i still held to the fear that it would be betraying what i was taught, betraying my family, betraying god.
this is precisely my life as it is now.
Meant to say "you're not alone"...not along. Although it is nice to have you along with us!
Peter
PS. Aaaarghh...I keep making spelling mistakes, and having to edit...

Welcome to the boards Kat...and may I be the first to say "meaohh"!!
Seriously though, you'll find many many posters here that have been/are going through the same thing you're experiencing.
You're not along, and you'll find a lot of support here!
See you on the boards,

hi gang, .
to make it easier for the out of towners (especially the ones driving in from the us), how does everyone feel about having our next get together on a saturday...say saturday, august 18th, starting at 4pm?
(i'll be working on the 11th and the 25th...).
Less than 2 weeks now....

i notice that because the jw's point out flaws with the churches doctrines and beliefs that instead of fixing or repenting or solving the issues it's easier for church people to form a backlash whether it's honest or falacious in order to displace blame and smokescreen their own inadequacies.. you can not heal yourself by pointing out anothers wounds, you also can not solve your problems by displacing them instead of admiting and addressing them.. if a jw or anyone else points out the problem of abuse in the church then by pointing out an abuse in the jw elders does not solve the issues of the church abuses neither is it repentance as repentance should be.. if you can't discuss the bible and resons why you fall short and trasngress then by bringing up personal issues or attacking each other like jackals does not change those transgressions it just adds more.. as an outsider i must say all of you are like animals on their prey simply because you didn't like being exposed for your false testiments and false practices.
this means your emotional and psychological and spiritual level is far from being grown up.. will you dare persecute me for pointing out such observations?
a spiritually grown person will reflect on what i say, admit to it and try to change, but a child of darkness will feel their ego hurt and group rpide kicks in causing a person not grown to become defensive bitter and mean/perhaps even spiteful.
Instead of this thread having the title "Observation by an outsider", a more appropriate title would be: "A fanatic Jehovah's Witness wants to preach to those that have left the JW cult!"
Just my take on this,

matthew 18: 6,7 "if anyone should cause one of these little ones to turn away from his faith in me, it would be better for that man to have a large millstone tied around his neck and be drowned in the deep sea.. how terrible for the world that there are things that make people turn away!
such things will alway happen--but how terrible for the one who causes them.".
has the governing body really been responcible for causing real genuine belevers in jesus christ to stumble the way jesus says at mathew 18?.
In the bible we read about the good things that people did...as well as the bad things that they did. Even things that happenned between the apostles are mentioned. Nothing seems to have been censored.
However, the WTS wants to censor anything that doesn't put them in the best of light. Or anything that might actually open up debate on a subject that would go contrary to their interpretation/dogma/laws®ulations/what have you, of what they think the bible says.
What are they afraid off?

...the day the music died".
obviously just a case of short term memory loss.
seven's nice big topic is gone, thoroughly deflated, as if a horrible fast acting cancer has swept through.. wouldn't it be great if the character who played tattoo on fantasy island was now a flight attendant?
I remember Tatoo from Fantasy Island! Quite the character. Can you imagine him working at a control tower, say at JFK International? "De planes...de planes!! Vow....look at all those &^%^& planes!!!" LOL
What I don't follow is what you're talking about, re: the day the music died. What died? What happenned? What cafe?(that 7 referred to?)
Thanks,
Peter
