i am so bummed yesterday i called this guy i know and asked him out, and he turned me down.
not just a polite "i'm busy" but he let me know that his relationship with someone just ended last month and he needs time to recover, he said " i am taking the rest of the year off from dating" (sounded to me like "don't bother to ask again")i didn't even know that he had been seeing someone in a serious relationship (the last time i ran into him was in early december).
we used to have had a few classes together and he always flirted with me.

the april 1st issue of the watchtower invites those who have some 'serious concealed sin' to report to the "loving christian elders".. it reminds the r&f that they (the elders) "will not treat lightly your desire to experience the restoration of a good relationship with your heavenly father".
oh yeah?
we all know that this is code for a judicial committee.
Sadly, some JWs will follow that admonition from the printed page...with disastrous results for them.
Hopefully it will be the nudge they need to look at the WTS a bit more carefully and find out what's really going on.
Just my thoughts on the matter,
Peter
old habits die hard...and quite often in my comments i will refer to the borg as the 'truth'.
does anyone know of any other churches that refer to their own particular church or religion as the 'truth'??
also, does anyone know how it originated...all my life i have used the term...comments like 'how long have u been in the truth?
Yadirf...the fact that you're not disturbed by what the WTS is doing says a lot about you, and not in the most flattering light. You really have to have blinders on not to be affected by what the WTS is doing. You remind me of little old ladies that see only the good that their maistream religion has done, and don't want to hear anything to the contrary. Why not? Because their whole world would come crumbling down, wouldn't it? Everything they believed in would crumble....
Where's your quote taken from? A WTS publication where they're trying to prove that only the WTS has the truth? Come on Yadirf...any religion/cult/sect can use the same words that you're quoting to try to say that they're the only one true religion, and if they're not, who is then? You really don't see through that?
In an earlier post I said:
As far as I'm concerned, no religion can call itself the truth....all religions are made of imperfect humans. That's my answer.

Well Yadirf, you never responded to what I posted before your question....In fact you sidestepped it and tried to bring up something else....and again there you go blaming someone else for something that you yourself are guilty of.
Here is what I posted earlier, as a question towards you:
------------------------------------------------------------
With the WTS, can you call it the truth when their doctrines keep changing?---------------------------------------------------------------------
-The 1914 generation that will see Armagedon, something promised in the bible (according to the masthead of the Watchtower for many many years), and suddenly, they won't see Armagedon (as of 1995 when the WTS changed that)?
-The ever changing blood policy, where little by little (starting with vaccinations & Rh shots that ARE made from human blood), more and more blood components are put on the "it's up to your concience brother/sister" list....where now more than half of all blood components are on the allowed list of JWs to accept.
-pedophiles in the organization that are being sheltered (because of the two witness rule...come on, how many pedophiles will molest kids with two people as witnesses?), no matter what the WTS's PR people are publicly saying.
-the WTS involvement in the UN (in order to get access to 3rd world countries as a humanitarian aid agency...even though they provide virtually no humanitarian aid...and to get free flights for their missionaries among the many reasons they really did it), and as soon it became public knowledge, they pulled out of the UN, blaming their oponents.
The list can go on and on....the WTS can certainly NOT claim to have the truth when their "truths" keep changing, NOT evolving as they claim, and certainly NOT improving and getting brighter according to better understanding of the bible. In some instances, the changes they say is new light, in fact return the organization to a policy they already had in the past! Think about that.
I grew up in the WTS and for the longest time I considered myself very fortunate to be in the only true religion. More than anything I wanted this to be true. However, when I found out, and also realized little by little, that the WTS wasn't as clean and pure as they claimed to be....well, I did lots of research to try to prove to myself that my doubts weren't right. Guess what? They were right. The easy thing to do would have been to go along with the crowd...in this case, the JWs I was associating with, and not rock the boat. But, how can a man go against his concience?
I'm just surprised that you're here in these boards. Loyal JWs (according to the WTS) should not be going to what the WTS considers apostate web-sites. Or talking to ex-JWs, as in your case.
What is the real purpose of your being here Yadirf? So far, you seem to antagonize and turn people off, with the result that many just skip over your posts and don't bother reading them (from what posters here have e-mailed me privately to tell me, or when we meet at Apostofests). You're not a knight in shining armor. So, what are you?
Sincerely,

Oh, I do believe the bible....haven't you heard that you shouldn't assume things because you might make an ass of yourself?
You really must have blinders on if after all the info you've seen posted here on these boards, you still think that the WTS has the "truth". And there you are trying to say that you don't have blinders on, and blaming someone else. Blame everyone else, just like what the WTS does...Right, gotcha, ahuh, whatever...

Sadly, those that are "loyall" JWs have their blinders on and will not even think about the organization possibly being wrong, even in light of overwelming evidence.
Just think about it....in a recent poll taken in Muslim countries and reported on CNN, over 60% of the people polled said that as far as they were concerned, it was a Jewish conspiracy that orchestrated the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York City, and that Muslims couldn't have possibly been involved in something like that. Hmmm.....
Talk about having blinders on....

hey everybody, i'm a christian, but i'm not a jehovah's witness and i recently made friends with one, i know little to nothing about this religion and i would like to know more, can anyone help me out by way of how it is different from say, an evangelical free christian church?
and what sort of theology and doctrine jw's go by and such, i'd really appreciate it, thank you
Hi konkreetgurl,
Just read through the posts here and you'll find out little by little about what's really happening in the WTS.
Just keep in mind however, that a lot of people here have been hurt by the WTS (including myself) for all the damage and lies that this organization did to us.
Our choice of words may not be the best at times. The fact that we are hurt plays into the WTS hands, since the WTS claims that all ex-JWs are apostates and "frothing at the mouth and hatefull"....and sometimes when a new poster comes here, they see how hurt and upset the people are...and of course they take it the wrong way.
However, what is posted is pretty much correct, whether it's the WTS involvement in the United Nations, their policy on the blood issue (which they are changing little by little by allowing more and more blood components to be transfused), the 1914 generation that has pretty much died away now and won't see Armageddon (contrary to all the articles the WTS printed in the past)....the list goes on and on.
I hope this helps you out a bit,
Cheers,

i just got through reading a thread based upon a statement from happy man.. from his post i gather that he is still an active jehovah witness.
and thinks that the good in the organisation outweighs the bad.. -----------------------------------.
why is it that when someone comes here for the first time or that when someone says something that is pro-watchtower the members of this board decend apon them like a piece of meat thrown into a kennel full of hungry dogs?.
Jerome:
What country are you from? Your profile doesn't say.
It would have helped us to understand the reason for your spelling mistakes and wrong sentence structure, since it's pretty obvious that english is not your first language.
