I stumbled upon 'Crossing Over' on Living TV, also 'Beyond with James van Praagh' and I am absolutely addicted to them. I'm not sure I believe they are making contact, but they are amazing to watch. Has anyone been to one of their seminars? Am I alone here?

Any of the books by Jostein Gaarder, especially Through A Glass Darkley, about a young girls meeting her imminent death with the help of an angel, Vita Brevis, a supposed translation of letters to St. Augustine from his mistress, and of course, Sophies World.
Also anything by Susan Hill.

Fred Franz....List the 'crimes'!
by petespal2002 inafter reading all your interesting thoughts on my other posting regarding fw, i would be fascinated to learn what you all regard to be among his worst 'crimes'.
would it be the 'refinements' on blood, a debate which goes on to the present, his views on transplants, or would you debate the true scholorship of his greek translations?

Fred Franz and high IQ

After reading these replies with interest I begin to wonder a little if some of the comments are based less on fact and more on personal feeling, which indeed runs high where FW is involved? As the titular head of a worldwide organization for so long, I feel he must have had some qualities worth respecting, at least his positive attitude towards his blindness, which would make many bitter. I loved the comments about people with higher than average intelligence being next to useless in real life. I've always felt the higher the IQ the lower the common sense. I am interested in what you all feel were his worst 'crimes', and have started a thread to that end.

Academic types can have a mentality that flourishes in organizational surroundings, as they probably spent a good proportion of their lives, into their 30's, in the 'halls of acadaemia' and to be cut loose and thrown into the world to get a 'proper' job can be unnerving at best, devestating at worst. The JW's promote an environment of study, whether you agree with it or not, and this can prove a blessing for those released from fromal education who thrive on studying. Whether they undertake a 'Beorean' study or not is for each individual to decide.
I have found the discussions on IQ testing and SLD fascinating as I am a research fellow in the field of music education with a specific interest in SLD. Personally I give little credence to standardised testing. If anyone is interested to learn more please leave a message in my in-box and I will respond privately. I am currently studying subjects with Aspergers syndrome.

Men tend to only think with their penis, and it's amazing how convincing it sounds when you are feeling vulnerable. (I am female, by the way.) You mentioned you might not have been as reliant on him had your other 'friends' not rejected you. I know that feeling. I wonder, after reading some of these replies however, if leaving needs to be the nightmare it is made out. Exit counselleing hit me as reverse brainwashing. If you know it to be a false religion, then have no guilt in leaving, because the Bible tells us to leave such organisations that dishonour God. If you don't believe in God anymore, then you have nothing to worry about. If part of you thinks it's still the "truth" would it hurt really to sit on the fence for a little while longer, hedging your bets so to speak, until you can make an informed decision on way or the other. I bet I'll get blasted for saying that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
