The whole point about the Biblical teaching of demons is that they "turn themselves into angels of light" so those posters replying with disbelief in them or positive experiences of the spirit world are actually proving the Bible and the WT teachings on this topic correct. Now there's one for ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woman Dragged Out Of Window By Demon!!!!
by SYN inoh dear.
jwzone never fails to deliver, and the only thing that can make me laugh when i have a hangover this bad (sucky thing is, i don't even drink!
) is a post like the following from that haven of dubiness:"size matters not," to borrow a phrase.

The Merry Widows/Widowers of Dubdum
by Room 215 inhi all,.
maybe this is a local phenomenon, but does it aver occur to you that jws whose mate dies often remarry in what society in general regards as an ``unseemly'' short time after the death of their spouses?
i guess the most prominent example of this is audrey knorr, who tied the knot a second time not long after ``pappy'' knorr was interred in 1977.. just wondering.

Personally I believe in the resurrection as I can't find anything better. I rest a strong hope in it as my husband is 42 years my senior and I hope so much that if anything happened to him we'd be able to be together again. Problem is he was a widower, so what happens to wife no.1? Hope she isn't resurected with a knife in her hand.

JW Fears
by freedom96 ini was laughing at the thread talking about the blue smurfs, how demonic they were.
:) it made me remember other stupid phobias the witnesses had, and how easy rumours were to spead around.
one for instance, was the false rumour about proctor and gamble, and how their business emblem/ picture/ whatever you call it was demonic, and how it was the sign of the devil, and to stay away from anything to do with that company.

They didn't exactly live in fear, but I heard of someone who said they had been!
Also someone who called on a white witch whilst on the ministry and swore they saw her dog 'grow' two foot taller while they watched it!!!!!!!

MIMILLY-
Thankyou for your great answer, you saved me saying it!
People who talk about M.E. in disparaging terms should try having it for a while, it'll soon scare them rigid and have them reassessing their lives and priorities.
To all of you who were negative in your remarks- I thought this site was about mutual support, not Witness bashing. Oh, and by the way whoever remarked about clinical depression and demonic overtones, you are well out of date, pal. Don't proliferate that old chestnut.

WT 8 26 02 Study Article--Review
by blondie inwt 8/25/2002 .
add godly devotion to your endurance 2 peter 1:5,6. in days gone by, the wt study article scriptures were quoted in entirety sometimes taking a separate paragraph.
nowadays, there are mostly snippets, only the part they want to emphasize), citations (for the publisher to look uphahathey are lucky the publisher reads the article), and occasionally when it is unavoidable, a complete scripture is quoted.

Craig-
I think the problem you are observing is a common one caused by inexperienced Witness youths rushing into ill-advised marriages because they want sex and techniaclly can't get it outside marriage. They also seem to look for someone who seems to have been round the block a few times. Not the basis of solid marriages.

"Given in to mind control by now"-- I know someone who attended evry meenting and convention of the JW's for 25 years but was never baptised or became a believer. Where's the mind control there? I suppose you'll say he was an exception to the rule!
"True love of Christ" "Worship without fear of being demon-possessed" what the hell is that all about.??????????????????????

I remember some brothers discussing whether to eat Mr. Whippy ice cream or not, but in our circuit this was a moot point as the assembly hall had that sort of ice cream dispenser fitted and that was often the highlight of most peoples assemblies!!
The basic rule, however, was if it had not appeared in print it was probably a rumour and ignore it. Some chose to err on the side of caution I guess, as was the case of a person ordering chicken from a resteraunt as long as they could assure him it had been bled and not strangled!
These things are fine when they are kept as personal opinions, which is what they are unless they were discussed in the pages of the WT, but some opinionated person always had to open their mouth and pass on a falsehood or half-truth, thus successfully making any who fell for it appear foolish in the eyes of others. I wouldn't attribute it to brainwashing, just general stupidity and/or lack of knowledge. How hard is it to uncover the reality for yourself in theses and similar cases? I'm sure some people started thses rumours off out of badness just to see who would get on board.
I do remember the children being told not to play with TROLLS, though. Those little dolls with the spikey multi-coloured hairdos.

Could a person get disfellowshipped for. . .
by StinkyPantz inallowing their 23 year old child to live at home even though this child makes enough money to support themselves and the parent doesn't need their financial support?.
i ask because my former best friend (who betrayed me to the elders) still lives with her mom.
she moved in a month before she got df'd even though her mom knew she was close to getting df'd.

I'm wondering why you got disfellowshipped in the first place?
The WT 'rule' is that marrying 'out of the truth' is not adviseable and not to be encouraged, someone who is insistent in this course could (and probably would) be 'marked'. This as you all know I am sure entails fellow believers cutting off social contact with the marked one, but still having to treat them as a brother within the confines of the organization. (Tricky idea)
The only legitimate reason to be disfellowshipped would be if you had been having sex with this person outside marriage and had confesssed as much. Without you confessing the elders are obliged to 'err on the side of mercy' as it is only another person's word against yours. If they don't, they are at fault, not you. I know this as a fact and from first hand experience, and it seems as if your disfellowshipping was wrong initially. That's what you should be questioning.

What's the one thing you miss about the WTS?
by Naeblis inthere are times when ilook back fondly on my days in the witnesses, especially when i think on the congregation get togethers we would have every once in awhile (not too often) people from our hall and sometimes others would show up (not too many) and good times were had by all.
this is how the schedule usually went.. 8pm: arrive at the community centre.
8:05pm: scope the room.
