so i'm having lunch as this pretty popular cafe, sitting at the bar enjoying a stella artois.. out of the corner of my eye i catch two well dressed ladies asking the bartender if the manager is available.
the bartender tells the ladies that the manager is not in.
the ladies proceed to tell the bartender that they are doing a community service.........you know the rest.. the bartender takes the magazines i'm sure to just get rid of them.

The bartender takes the magazines I'm sure to just get rid of them. Then they turn to me and ask if I'd like to read something that will make my life better.
I look directly at the bartender and ask him, "Can I just enjoy my lunch minus the cult recruitment?"
He looks at the wits and says, "You better leave." Which they did in a hurry. How desparate can you be? Really? Bothering people in a restaurant?
The bartender took the mags and threw them out.
hopefully it will make them think.. .

Sir Paul looks pretty good for a 72 year old billionaire.
so sorry, why is it that if i brush the keyboard the wrong way it posts an unfinished rant?.
thanks in advance for reading my drivel.. .

So today I've been thinking of the phrase, "Thanks in Advance."
Usually this wording came at the end of some correspondence from the Society regarding an organizational change. As in, "Thanks in advance for following this new procedure that has been put in place to bilk the publisher's out of more money."
What irritates me most is that this phraseology assumes that the reader will do what is asked without thought or question, thus placing the writer of said phrase in a superior position.
out of the blue, my wife told me that after this week's service meeting on friday (co visit) she is not going to anymore meetings during the week at night.
only sunday (am) meetings.
she explained that it is difficult and not safe for her to drive after dark (vision issues: i have the same problem so i couldn't help her if i wanted to).
I know.............Make it Family Worship Night!

Jehovah's Witness Sex Abuse leading the evening news complete with pictures of local Khalls and an interview with the dumbfounded perpetrator.
Just.............Perfect
i remember many years ago we would talk about those who leave the org.
something bad will happen to them.
because god was mad at them for turning away from the wt.
Not trying to be disrespectful to anyone. I understand perfectly the PTSD that comes from leaving a belief system. I admit that I've had a brief (very brief) pang of what if?
Still, the thought that unseen spirit forces are somehow monitoring our every thought and action is primitive and vesigial.
I'm perfectly comfortable with the thought that something horrible will definitely happen to me at some point in time. I'm just not going to blame "the spirits."
it has been a long time.. thanks to jw.org, i was reading some jw material (what does the bible teach i believe).
it was the first time reading a "book study" book in many years and i was blown away by the controlling, cultish writing.
this question especially struck me as manipulative: do you believe that we are living in the last days, and why?.
Witness my fury beat me to it..........Since the first century there have existed groups that beleived they were living in the last days. Why? Because they were delusional.
