Parents who left 'the truth', here's an example of the threats that your children will no longer be subjected to
by defender of truth in13 some youths brought up by christian parents may not see the stark contrast between our current spiritual paradise and satans dark world.
some have even been tempted to see what life in the world is like.
but would you run in front of a moving car just to find out how painful and possibly fatal that could be?

Or...would you join a mind control cult that promotes poverty and advocates for the mass destruction of innocents? Just to find out what a disaster your life could become? Of course not! -

It's Over Johnny....The Demise of Jehovah's Witnesses
by ctrwtf ini think i've mentioned before that from time to time my commute on the bqe takes me past the old factory buildings and the soon to be former headquarters building.
i was struck the other day with how shabby they've become.
even 25 columbia heights, still currently occupied, its facade is filthy.

@sir 82 I've thought about the transformation from publisher to real estate mogul. The problem is, where is the cash flow? Real Estate is a very fickle strategy for them especially when one considers that the vast majority of holdings are not so valuable KH's. Even with the new redux in KH's they are not exactly liquid assets.
I've no doubt that the Wits are going to be around for awhile.....but eventually their well will dry up.

8 million - The Population of Honduras
by bemused ini sometimes look at the magazines on jw.org to see what the wt are saying now.
the latest watchtower is a good old fire and brimstone, armageddon is coming any moment now issue, but it was a short article in the april 2015 awake that caught my eye.
it features the country of honduras and is quite an informative little read (though failing to mention the very high crime rate in that country).

It's quite compelling to note that the Almighty God Jehovah has only managed to attract the attention of a mostly marginalized 19th century American cult. -

I quit the Theocratic Ministry School
by My Name is of No Consequence inafter almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.

I think I've mentioned before that from time to time my commute on the BQE takes me past the old factory buildings and the soon to be former headquarters building.
I was struck the other day with how shabby they've become. Even 25 Columbia Heights, still currently occupied, its facade is filthy. I remember how this was once the flagship property of the WT. It seems to me that compared to the surrounding properties, high-rises with gleaming facades, the WT properties are really quite second rate.
In addition, there is a new building under construction between the waterfront and the old Squibb building. I'm not sure if it's residential or commercial but in either case it is definitely overshadowing the WT buildings. It gives the impression that the WT buildings, once waterfront standouts along the East River are being swallowed up by new and better construction.
It seems to me that this is really a metaphor for what is happening to the organization worldwide. It's been in a near constant state of retreat since the 90's. Think about the following, I'll try to put it more or less in chronological order:
Simplification. (I love this word)
Retreat and re-tool of generations thinking.
Fewer and shorter Assemblies.
Fewer and abbreviated magazines and publications.
Bethel lay-offs.
Branch office closings.
NGO scandal.
Flagship property sell offs.
Congregation cash grabbing.
Sexual assault lawsuits.
And last but not least, point everyone's attention to the internet where a quick Google search will reveal first JW.org but then dozens of websites that would discourage anyone from being connected to this cult. Add to this hundreds of youtube vids that are probably even more effective at combating recruitment. This is not only a surrender to the information age, but a desperate effort to remain relevant.
For all of the above reasons, it's clear that the WTBTS is on the ropes. Why else would you flee an iconic New York property that advertised "The King and His Kingdom" to hide in seclusion in an unknown Burg in Upstate NY.
Even with the new re-branding and congregational land grabs, the stagnant growth and lack of hard cash donations spell the inevitable demise of the WTBTS.
So, in the words of the Colonel in the Rambo movies....."It's over Johnny!"
Remember you heard it here first.

How many JWs really believe the end will come "soon"?
by BU2B inthis topic has been on my mind lately.
i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.
from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.

I would ask my Pops, "How is a mostly bankrupt and ultimately powerless organization dedicated to tolerance and peace going to wage an all out war on religion?"
I'm sure that his response would be something like "Jehovah will put it in their mind to do so."
Then ask him "then isn't it Jehovah who's attacking religion?"
Sit back and watch the cognitive dissonance wash over his blank stare.
Sorry BU2B
