  I've never met a JW who had confidence....

  've talked with many jws since i began having doubts years ago:.

  I would ponder a guess that because they have to rely so heavily on WTBS publications to understand the bible, no real understanding can happen.

  I also think the WTBS has a habit of kindergarten school all in the Bible, therefore it makes it extremely difficult for those who want more than a superficial knowledge - they have to do that pretty much all on their own.

  So, when confronted, most (like me) couldn't defend their faith adequately if their life depended on it. If they stop talking about a certain topic, its because they have to go home to "research" as they don't have all their volumes of WTBS literature with them for index referencing.

  Truly despicable - hopefully this will encourage other JW women not to invite men into their home alone to talk about the bible!!!!

  Racing!!!

  i went to the national 100 dirt track races in alabama sunday and what a blast!

  my older brother raced in the enduro class, but didn't make it past qualifying.

  oh well, he'll have his sportsman (late model) running for next year.

  Looks like alot of fun!!! I've always wanted to race, but alas a tad to expensive for me!!!! If your brother ever needs another woman driver for the team though - look me up!

  Life on other planets?

  as jw's, we were taught that there is no way that there is life anywhere but here on earth.. i personally never bought into that completely.

  there are billions and billions of solar systems out there.

  i do believe that absolutely there is life on other planets.

  (((Out))) - Your story sounds alot like mine with my older brother. Of course he has alcoholism, so at least I can blame a "disease". Its amazing how much some of us put up with!!!!

  What makes your brother like this I wonder? (or mine for that matter). I don't necessarily blame the JW's as we were all raised in the same faith. You and your brother grew up in the same household. What do you think caused such a difference in how you turned out as adults? I wonder the same myself. I was the only one out of 6 kids that finished high school, let alone go onto college. My oldst leached off me for almost 7 years, before my now hubby finally put an end to it (I never could've done it on my own).

  Its truly wonderful that you can still keep such an "open heart" policy, after all he's put you through, while at the same time holding a firm stance. I didn't learn this lesson until my hubby, and the book "co-dependent no more". You must have a heart of gold (w/the strength to match!!!!).

  watchtower: Pimping you out to the world!

  just venting before i go to work.

  i was thinking how watchtower has to be one of the biggest pimps of peoples minds and bodies in the world.

  #1 they have their people go out and "perform" or "do tricks" with peoples minds and emotions.. #2 they have their people go out and bring in the "masters belongings", warm bodies, their money and a lifetimes servitude, with watchtower the "master"!

  Does WANTING to believe in God count? I would love to have faith like I once did.

  I feel EXACTLY the same way. Many times I find myself praying to a "higher power". I would love to have faith again like I once did. But, with all the cynicism I feel, I don't know anymore. I'd love to believe in God, but he doesn't seem to have much of an interest in me.

  Teejay - I have 5 brothers & sisters - all raised JW and all turned out COMPLETELY different.

  1 Remain a strictest of the strict JW; 1 became a drug dealer and still is; 1 became a raging alcoholic, lost his family & still is; 1 swore NEVER to have a family and pretty much keeps to himself; 1 had 1st baby at 14 & 1 more before 18 - while still a JW, now living off welfare; and then there's me that did the "normal" thing (after awhile) with 2 kids & hubby in suberbia....

  I wonder if this is typical of ex-JW communities....I know siblings tend to have "differences", but when they are at such extremes - it makes you wonder what influenced the vast difference.

  SHE LEFT ME!

  my wife, liza, came home from work this morning (she was doing the 3rd shift thing) and said she was leaving me.

  this afternoon at 1 pm i took her to the bus station.

  at 4:20 pm she was off to nyc.

  (((Yeru))) I am so sorry this is happening to you.

  Hubby & I have had difficulty keeping it together ourselves. Its hard, especially when special need children are in the picture. Perhaps your wife is just feeling overwhelmed. Working 3rd shift while still trying to maintain a family - I couldn't imagine as a mother doing that, its hard enough working full time days. Perhaps she needs a chance to regroup and take stock of her life.

  I really am wishing nothing but the best for you and your children. This must be a scary time for them as well, regardless of age.
