(((Grace))) - May I just add that for some of us who have lost our own mothers & siblings to this religion - its people like you that become our "adopted families" - even in cyberspace.

not my enemy
by teejay infollowing on the heels of what bowen said about ray, i began to see a statement that real soon began to get under my skin.
i've read it several times since and i hafta say: that little irritant is beginning to fester more than i care for.
the statement was something in the neighborhood of, "let's not get side-tracked with this franz / bowen fiasco and remember who our real enemy is... the watchtower society!".

My Wedding Uninvitation
by LB inwell the lovely young sister let my wife know today that only she would be invited to her wedding.
i'm not in the least surprised.
i know she really likes me and that her first inclination was to have me attend regardless of my daing myself recently.

((LB)) This must hurt!!! I remember after I was df'd, one of my closest friends was married sometime after. It really bothered me that I wasn't invited & couldn't watch her on her most special day.
I'm sure Kim will miss you in turn, regardless of what her chosen religion dictates she must do. I can't imagine it will be easy for her to know you aren't in the audience. What a huge heart you have LB - "christian love" has no better expression than what you posted above.
P.S. - If you need any more people to accompany you & the missus to Hawaii however, err...ehmm...I'll gladly fill in Kim's shoes!

Sacred cows and dead horses
by BB inwhats all the flap about some of you not wanting to see others beat a dead horse?
come on, can you think of anything with more intrinsic entertainment value or raw fun than beating a dead horse?
i say, "those who wish to should be allowed to swat away".. while were at it, some of the "sacred cows" on this board probably deserve a good spanking as well.

After reading the above article I have consulted with an attorney, and it appears I have a case. So, just to let you know Simon, although it pains me, I believe I have suffered much because of this board. It is my intention to sue
#1 - Bill Gates for marketing the "computer" to which it became necessary for me to purchase - with absolutely no warnings to how addictive it would become.
#2 - The fast food/carry-out companies - for the unnutritious meals I have consumed, making me gain 5 lbs in the last 2 months.
#3 - Simon for creating a website that he should have known all us ex-JW's would become addicted to. He should have first consulted some psychologists before creating such a thing. My family is suing the above as well for the following:
#1 - Alienation of their mother/wife's affections - all she does is "feed her habit"
#2 - The fact that the person who used to do all their laundry, cook all their nutritious meals and take care of all the housework - well because of her "addiction" - that was through no fault of her own" - they do not get said services provided to them.Simon, I am willing to settle this out of court - before it gets out of hand. If you wish, please email me so we can take care of this matter.
Now, I'm off to target Simon.

Discussions With God
by IslandWoman infor those that pray, do you pray only in quiet reverence and thankfulness or do you also pray as if god were right there in front of you and you have this bee in your bonnet (or whatever .
personally i pray to god about anything even about being upset with him.
i love god and do not fear him so to lovingly be upset with him sometimes, is just me.

I talk to him, and at him. I ask alot of questions, and for forgiveness alot. I don't know that he has direct intervention my life, but just in case, I keep in touch. If he does have a purpose, its hard to see, and I tell him that too.

WTS and donations
by freedom96 inmany christian type religions, organized or not, believe in giving 10% like was done in the old days in the bible.
you even have the mormons, who must give 10%.. as money hungry as the wts is, why have they not gone for that as well?
they can always justify anything for any reason.

Where do they get the money? I'll tell you..
Watchtowers & Awakes - never used to cost more than $.25 - but, if offered for free & you tell the householder "a small donation" - this leaves them in a quandry as to what to give - most will give you at least $1.00. Same with books - what used to be a couple of bucks - most "free donations - the householder wouldn't feel comfortable giving more than $5.00.
Also - wills and life insurance policies. When my father died, my mom donated a HUGE amount to her local congregation. It was ridiculous, as now she is pretty much penniless living off his social security.
