Its happened to me a couple of times, but lately I've been too busy reading to even do alot of posting.
Hint for you - whenever you run out - you can still "edit" previous posts - or just take the conversation to chat....
is it just me or does eveyone here max out to their 20 posts per day and 2 new threads limits?
has there ever been any though given to bumping those #'s up?

seems like tension is high right now, and i really hate tension, especially when i get right in the middle of it...........lol..... i swear i am not a troublemaker ,,, for the most part.... i enjoy this board because i have alot of good friends here, i have learned alot and this place will always have a special place in my heart because of that.. i like moe and randoms board because they are my friends and i like it there too.. i even lurk at jwo because i am nosey and i am interesting in certain ones and what is going on in their world.
i worry,,,,,,,,,,, because i do care too much of what people think of me,,,,,,,,,, that by going to these other boards that i will be lable as disgruntled.
i am not in anyway.........i go to different boards because i have friends that go there.
Lilacs - I'm with you. I like people on all the forums - to the point that I really have to start considering how much time I spend on these db's!!! What I've never liked are comments that because I post regularly on "other" boards - this means I'm a "type" of person (and negative one at that). It was only a matter of time before some "breaking" off had to happen - and I think that's a good thing. I also think all forums that I visit have a particular "flavor" to them, and I like the difference in styles. I think its important and can make for more well rounded individuals.
I'm sure there will be a "peace" and leveling off, and I hope that day is soon.
Something bad happens here, and they run there to talk about it. Someone dislikes someone here, they run there to discuss and defame the person involved. Someone gets their hand slapped for breaking a small rule, and they run there to blow the thing up a million fold and recruit friends to believe them and side with them.Although this statement is correct, there are also "other" elements that add to this quaqmire - There are a few long time posters here that also like to run to the "other" to stir the pot as well. They do it hidden behind "fake id's" and insult at will, knowing that they are shielded from any lack of respect that might be garnered here if they even dared breath some of the crap they spew over there. Why it all happens, and the history behind it all would take too much time on the part of any person with an actual life to get their arms around it to figure out how to solve it. I think if some of those with "issues" towards persons who have differences w/others banned here would come out of their closets, lose the fake ID's & face these problems head on, at the end of all the bloodshed of war there is the possibility of peace. I've seen it happen on a couple of occassions.
my most painful confession
note to simon: i will use some expletives, but i hope that they will be retained as this is intended to be an otherwise civil and thoughtful post to all my fellow ex-jws.
please read on, as this is most painful.
Amazing - by the overwhelming response to this thread, I think it speaks for itself of the love and respect that EVERYONE feels for you. I can only say "ditto" to all other positive posts in this thread, and to tell you that many of your essays and posts have meant more to me than you will ever know. I always felt so "honored" when you would take the time from your busy life to respond to a comment I had made. Your insight & wisdom will be truly missed for the period of time that you are gone, so please get well soon & hurry back - so much dysfunctionalism, so little time. We need you!!! But it is also nice to know that you have also learned the value of taking time for yourself - you for one deserve it!!!
Get well soon - my love accompanies you as well.
Rhonda

My collection of posts are about the most mundane, trivial, bland pieces of crap to ever soil Simon's forum. Go ahead, click "members" at the top, then find "TR" and look at my posts. Or not. I don't get mad, though. I do think about offing myself for being such a dickweed
Perhaps after your schlong reduction surgery, your "other" brain will have a chance to kick in and contribute! Seriously though, you are one of my personal favorites - you have a wonderful sense of humor & there is no way I could ever post a response that would actually be appropriate!

Gil, I wouldn't get to upset when others don't post a response....take me for instance. I've been away a few days, and I swear it will take me HOURS to get caught up on reading all the different threads, let alone respond to them. Then, alot of times I just don't have the words to make an intelligent response (no picking on me here!). And sometimes, I like to think that your post pretty much "says it all", and all that could be posted in response would just be agreement. Then there are the times where I know any advice I could give would probably be the WRONG kind, and therefore detrimental, so I defer to those more knowledgeable on a given situation or comment. It doesn't mean that I don't care, I just don't know what to say.

Not THAT Vanessa Williams - the one that was formally a Ms America but got booted because of her "pornographic photo's"
Besides - beauty is in the eye of the beholder - no? I

Okay - Halle Berry would get my vote too in the "most beautiful woman" catagory (with Vanessa Williams, Cameron Diaz, Shania Twain & Faith HIll). But this wasn't the "award" - it was most admirable.
Reborn - excellent rebuttal! (where'd Francois go?)
Aztec - I'm with you - Mother Theresa should be on the list, as well as Barbara Dole - women who truly use their positions to make a difference in our world. Those are the ones that should be "admired" - not the persons who can make the most out of their political careers to gain glory & recognition for themselves. In fact - there were few on that list that I "admire" - except Colin Powell - you gotta love him!

being an ex-jw who would love to see my friends and other out of the jehovahs witness organisation i face a dilemma, is it always in a persons best interests to know the truth about the truth?.
when i first decided to leave the organisation, i was happy to speak to my family about why i disagreed with the organisation.then about 6 months ago my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the lungs (due to asbestos poisioning.if you think the governing body are corupt they are nothing compared to the people who produced this stuff).i have desided it best not to mention anything about the organisation untill my family recovers from my fathers death.. so since then i have not said a word about the "truth".that would be so counter productive to my fathers mental health, his and the rest of the families happiness can be only be found in the hope of a resurection , no matter how unfounded that hope is.. i have bumped into some elders from time to time who are in their late 70's and spent all their adult lives in the truth, how about them?there are many in the congregations suffering from depression and other mental problems, what would our knowledge do to them?should we be taking the intiative to help these out, or could we do more harm than good to them?of course i can't know how knowing what know about the truth will effect some people.will it make their lives better or worse.will it free some to fufill their ambitions and desires living a full and happy life or will others be full of regret , deprestion and sadness, maybe even some would comit suicide.. what part will i have played if its me that persuades them?should i wait to be asked about the organiasion, or should i take the initative, is it really up to me to judge who can "take" it and who can't?
I would have to agree w/many of the sentiments expressed here. Take my mother - 35 years a watchtower slave. As she is getting on in years, I would never want to even cause her doubts on her chosen religion or beliefs. To take that away from her would be to take away her lifeline - her opium & I couldn't bear for her to go through that pain.
Others, it just depends. I've been working on a "letter" to send to a friend of mine that I haven't seen in 18 years - why? To let her know I still love & miss her. To tell her why I left, and why I couldn't return even if I wanted to. Its a REAL LONG letter. If she actually reads it, maybe it will open her eyes & if she does have doubts, the courage to face them head on.
ONe thing about JW's that are still "in" - even if they did have doubts, because of the shunning practices, they have probably a great FEAR of the "other side". I did. born & raised a JW - I was terrified of "the world" and wouldn't have gone had I not been forced into it. Perhaps by letting them know its not so "nasty & scary" in the real world, perhaps they can find some courage - and know that they will still be loved should they decide to make a stand.
like the movie of that title, we also were soldiers.
we were soldiers serving a religion.
like the vietnam war soldiers many of us suffered and some of us paid the ultimate price.
Personally though what I can do is wear a black arm band and when others ask I will answer: "This is for all those who have needlessly died while following the Jehovah's Witness religion."
Excellent post - and comment above IW!!! It's too bad there is no "memorial" that could be erected for the victims of JW policies on blood, doctrine & shunning practices. I wonder sometimes how many victims there are....and how many would need to be remembered.
We were all soldiers once.........so moving, Thank you.
