((Shytears)) - Disfellowshipping is such an evil thing to do to people - I'm sorry you had to experience that. This too shall pass, although it seems hard. Concentrate on developing positive relationships with people not of the Borg - that would help alot.

Respectful Posters
by onacruse ini've had the chance this last couple of weeks to participate in a few threads about topics that evoked strong convictions.. i'd just like to say, it's a distinct pleasure to be able to debate these subjects openly.
with one or two exceptions, it was without abusive or derogatory responses.
the exact opposite of what i got, or would ever expect to get, in the wts.. i'm not trying to start a "popularity" thread here, just to say that this forum is a big breath of fresh air.. craig

Lol - you got me there email - tis true.
But, there are some of us that "like" those "bad apples" and don't think they're so bad at all, and since we know to which you are referring may still be slightly offended at those type of remarks - you know what I mean?

Excuse me -
Thank god there's now a new forum outside this site for some of those "bad apples"
Simon has said no references to the "other place" or "those bad apples" - as there are some very nice people there - just a little more out spoken.- so my post can be editted at the appropriate time as well.

Doing All Right
Words and music by Brian May and Tim Staffell
Yesterday my life was in ruin
Now today I know what I'm doing
Got a feeling I should be doing all right
Doing all right
Where will I be this time tomorrow?
Jumped in joy or sinking in sorrow
Anyway I should be doing all right
Doing all right
Should be waiting for the sun
Looking round to find the words to say
Should be waiting for the skies to clear
There ain't time in all the world
Should be waiting for the sun
And anyway I've got to hide away
Yesterday my life was in ruin
Now today God knows what I'm doing
Anyway I should be doing all right
Doing all right
Doing all right

Shera - I understand completely - we also "enabled our son's disability for a loooooong time, and this does make it more difficult to turn the tables so to speak - but not impossible. I do have some information I want to send to you - I'll email you tonight (and on the PEC's).

Before I can answer that - I have to know a couple of things.....does your son take "instruction" from you without a lot of resistance (i.e. will he try to do the things you ask?) and is compliance an extreme issue with him?

Brummie - thanks - but in our case, Nicholas like putting pieces of it on the wall & doing "art projects" with it - horrible!!!! Thankfully through the behavior modification techniques we have been able to at least "urine train" him & have gotten him to the point with the bm's to poop on the floor in the bathroom & then notify us when he has done so. This in of itself has been a wonderful blessing!.
You work with adults with Autism - wow - I have often thought of starting a "group home" for adults, so that when my Nicholas is older he will always have a home....if you wouldn't mind, as I know after done with work most like to leave it behind them, but if you could find the time to email me & give me a little information of the type of environment you work at, I'd appreciate it.

Hi - I've been trying to email you from home, but everytime I reply to your email - the address doesn't seem to be quite right! I'm at work right now, but will try again tonight when I get home.
Have you tried the "positive reinforcement" technique yet? Are you having any success? I know how difficult the "smearing" thing can be - all the clean-up, nausea etc. etc. involved (and the amount of toys & books that are disposed of on a regular basis). I hope things are working out better.
Did you see this article in Parents magazine?
http://www.parents.com/articles/health/5030.jsp
Sounds alot like me - but we are having some success so I'm fortunately doing a little better - I don't know what I'll do when my Nick gets that big!

I can say that his research & methods for autistic children was totally debunked by the majority of "experts" in that field (asked my Son's ABA Psychologist - she laughed when she heard his name - he did a lot of dis-service to developing APPROPRIATE methods for therapy according to her.
