BEAUTIFUL FEMINISTS?
by Mecurious? inare feminists unattractive?
i mean physically.
most of the feminists i've met were either ugly, dykey or both.

obviously because Shallow Hal , er, I mean Mercurious, thought that a person's physical appearance is so great a matter of importance that it warranted 2 entire threads.

When Jw say :"It was your personal choice"
by JT inthe avg jw when confronted with pass issues such as not going to college, setting up retirement plans while you are 23 for when you get 65, seeking a better paying job will often try to hide behind
"it was a personal decision".
while in one context that is true, there is one problem.

Very true John - good points!
Even as far as becoming baptized - who WASN'T "pressured" to do this? I just heard of an ex-friend of mine daughter who will be getting baptized this summer - she's 15 (same age as I was). While it seems to be her personal choice - its a social pressure situation - she really can't understand fully what she is doing (imho). "Everyone is so proud of her - she's seeking "spiritual" maturity" yadda yadda yadda ya.......

WTS conspires to shield confessed mass-murderer and felon from authorities!
by reporter inmy questions are (besides the obvious): who is going to take the rap eventually for these heretofore unsolved florida murders?
whose innocent lives may yet rot in jail while this now baptized perpetrator goes free to share in field service and attend meetings?
whose victims' families are hoping in vain that this baptized felon gets caught while he is being shielded from "secular" prosecution?

Assuming that this guy was a "fugitive" (which the letter does not indicate) - there is still the matter of clergy confidentiality. This would be a hard decision for any clergy person to make. But, what makes this bothersome is there is no encouragement to have this brother "atone" for his sins of murder and to give "Ceaser his due".
Are you sure this guy had not already done his time?It doesn't clarify whether this guy did time for his crimes - just that Florida wasn't "aware" (which could just mean he did his time in some other state/country).

JWD Analyst get on my ti**
by Brummie inwhy do people come along and try to analyse all the posters here?
always reffering to the "many" or the "majority" and swiping them off as being thick or stupid?
its sounds like they are saying: "their posts are not as interesting & deep as mine are they?

Just experienced some of the sickness of jwism!
by be wise ini was just talking to my niece the other day - she's the daughter to my jw sister.
she was telling me about what she believes.
she got talking about birthdays etc, so i told her my point of view.

Be Wise - its very difficult sometimes to make that decision - I wish you the best as you go through this process. It can be very difficult - but there's an entire board here of people who will be there to give you support should you need it, and it sounds like you do have some family left to be there as well.
We don't get to choose our family - and most of the time, JW or not, they don't turn out to be the people that we need or want in our life. There is no shame in this, its just the way it turns out.
Good luck to you - this won't be easy from what I understand.

Ahhh Brummie - you just keep on venting.
I wonder how many shy away from posting, fearing they will be made to feel "wanting" just because their opinion isn't backed up by years of studying, 50 books & statistics to back up their feelings?
Like many, I tend towards "lighter" threads - my personal life is just too complex & multi-layered to need any meatier substance in my personal time. This is my time to unwind, have a good discussion that doesn't take rocket science and maybe share a few thoughts with those I feel are becoming my friends. I'm sure many share these sentiments.
When this board is labelled for "intellects only" - then I'll gladly leave for more relaxing & frankly rewarding venue's. It's nice to learn a few things once in awhile, but if all I was doing was trying to "learn" - I'd be spending my free time in college, with the "real" experts.
Thanks Brummie - you have an excellent way of saying things!

It can be a wild ride around here - many different people with different social & cultural backrounds and different levels of exiting from the WTBS - but all in all we're a pretty good group!

Moral absolutes
by Aztec ini keep saying i am going to start a thread on this topic so here goes.... what, if anything, is always morally wrong?
murder, rape, incest?
how much do you think your belief, or lack thereof, in a higher power influences your opinion?.

Ditto whatever Expatbrit said! (it sounded pretty deep - and I'm sure I'll agree with it as soon as I've had an hour to digest!)
