the only way the 'big news' can work, in that it causes the r and f to stop and think and the wtbts to begin to crumble, is that it is tested in court....but not only with the jws medical mis representation but through their 'biblical doctrine' misrepresentation and then, only by using their own bible, the nwt.

jws do not refuse blood because of the blood booklet but because of the apparant prohibition of blood in the bible.

there are many esteemed biblical scholars who would be able to beat the crap out of the wtbts doctrinal view on blood.

Beep, in the time frame from which your quote from the bible to deal with the blood issue, a Blood Transfusion, was unheard of.

It took about 2000 years before blood tranfusions were experimented with and found to be life saving.

Are transfusion somewhat risky ? Yes but so is driving your automobile.

In the time frame in which you quote from the bible it was common for people to EAT meat that had been aquired by strangeling an animal. Some people actually would EAT blood itself. These are what are condemned in the bible.

Eating blood is like eating other foods. It is digested and the components are separated and used to nourish the body while the unusable components are excreted through the intestines as excrement.

A blood transfusion is not a dinner or breakfast delivered to the body through the digestic tract..

A blood transfusion can be refered to as an organ replacement. It replaces the lost amount of blood and delivers the needed oxygen to the body cells and carries other componants to the other organs

The blood itself is not consumed by the body as nourishment. If the body was to consume the blood as food, we could not exist as our blood would be eaten up about as fast as we could produce it.

You will have to find another argument to support your claims that God forbids blood transfusions.

Living proof: Elders are not spirit appointed

witnesses say that elders are appointed by holy spirit.

the bible is the product of hs and when the body prays and uses the bibles qualifications for older men in the context of the perspective candidate hs is involved in his approval or disapproval.

then when the co passes the recommendation on the gb (or who ever actually makes the decision) these spirit appointed men are influenced by hs.. all well and good, the only problem is, it does not work.

I was an elder for some time, until I moved to another state and even though I had a letter from the previous congregation that I was in good standing, I refused to accept the assignment. That group of elders convinced me that none of the elders were spirit directed.

Most of them that I encountered over the years, were either raving ego maniacal or power hungry and the few good ones, didn't have the guts to stand up to them.

None of them and especially myself were never spirit directed. I was treated with more respect and saw more inteligence and cooperation when I would be in a corporation board meeting.

Yeah Blondie I remember that day in 1941 and how enthused my mother was when they announced that Children's Book. I was 5 yrs and 10 months old.

They had all us little ones walk down the aisle to the bottom and they were giving out this book to mostly children only.

That is about all I recall from that assembly except for being on a street with my mom and her trying to hand out the latest magazines.

There were people who were really angry with the jw's and lots of them were yelling at the jw's. One lady came up to my mom and screamed at her for having a young child on the streets in this kind of situation. I was scared to death and I recall having lots of good feelings about this lady. Another among other times when I felt my mom might sacrifice me.

I grew up with very little respect or trust for my mom and usually didn't want to be around her.

i'd just like to say that i believe barbara's a wonderful addition to this site and i appreciate all her contributions in her pursuit to expose the watchtower's deceit.

This may or may not grow into a large issue, usable in the courts. If not it is still another chip out of the wtbts armor, leaving them open to multiple charges in the future and at [least] another lie that can be taught to the world.

It is often the many many little mistakes that take down some regime or some corporation.

We as individuals, unless we have spent the time and effort and suffered the loss of children as the Andersons have, due to the hateful acts of the wbts, have no right to belittle their efforts.

If we also spent the same time and felt the same loss, we if we have any sense of sorrow for them and claim to be kind and caring people ourselves, WE OWE them support and help and commendation for all their efforts.

I can only guess at the level of sadness and confusion and then anger, at all the negative complaints delivered to them.

This type of incident is what causes a person to quit, in anger over the unfairness of it all.

I certainly hope this will not be the result due to all the negativity.

Sanctuary Trauma

in a post by ingenous on another thread (scandal frenzy, i think) some quotes are posted about "sanctuary trauma.

" it hit me in kind of a big(-ish) way...being hurt by those who should be protecting or nurturing us is a betrayal of sanctuary.

the trauma experienced is called sanctuary trauma.

Your post made me recall some memories I have from the age of 7 or 8 yrs.

I recall my mom talking about the child that was to be sacrificed and at the last minute was saved "by an angel telling his father not to continue"and about how children younger than 5 yrs. would be selected and sent to live with the Jewish Hi priests, I think it was .

During these discussions my mother would be very emotional and very happy, while I stood there frightened, that this might happen to me.

This never changed. As I look back on my life in the jw's I as a child always felt uneasy about my sanctuary "my mother and home".

Not much changed as an adult. The jw's religious sanctuary is filled with a mix of fear, anxiety, anger,and confusion.

Is it all downhill after leaving JW's?

i know many people will get angry at this, but i had to share some observations i've had since i discovered this board a couple of days ago (see my original post under "why all the venom?").

i'll be very honest and say that i was hoping that i would discover that the jw's were wrong about some things, including the so-called "apostate" sites (i have been recommended to some internet sites and some books that i plan to investigate further).

i was hoping to find that people really didn't need the jw's "spiritual food" to remain true to god.

No it is not all down hill. For most it is a travel into new and exciting experiences of freedom and TRUE love. However for many of the people who leave the jw's it is due to heart rending loss of family-marriage-relatives and friends. These losses were due to the cult attitude of excomunicating those who may only disagree with a teaching or those who were molested or had children who were molested and found the watchtower bible and tract society wanted these things concealed and hidden instead of taking positive action to protect their members. The rules regarding a persons sexual relations with their spouse, their rules about not using whole blood for transfusions and the loss of children and family. Then the myriad of new changes in these policies. AFTER the loss had occured, without so much as a ( I am sorrry ) from the headquaters or the elders, let alone a solid explanation of the new changes. I lost my marriage, my siblings, my friends and some of my children due to their insane rules. I was excomunicated because I was angry about my daughters molestation and the molesting elder was left in good standing. I was excomunicated due to " fits of anger ". is the "label" they put on me. By the time they had finished I was disgusted with religion and religious organizations. Yet some how you see me as being wrong and the jw's as an acceptable religious organization. You see my anger and distrust of religious ORGANIZATIONS as a reason to trust the very organization that did this to me? It took years to get over what they did to me and move on. If you wish to immerse your self in a group like that and turn your life over to them, may God help you. Outoftheorg

there is really nowhere else for me to post about what goes on inside me.

i know that my problems aren't all because i was a witness.

the agony in my mind has led me to a psychiatrist.. he has diagnosed me with cyclothymic mood disorder, a milder form.

Hey there Joelbear!

I recently read an article about bipolar, mainly because I have a daughter that has been diagnosed as bipolar also.

This article talked about the THYROID gland, a rather small gland under the chin in your neck.

It has been learned that this gland may be the cause of or at least lend to bipolar.

When talking to my doctor "not on this subject" he surprised me by saying "if I have any physical or mental problems, I always seek out the younger doctors".

They are up on the latest treatments in many cases because not all of the older doctors will attend the refreshment courses they are supposed to.

Ask your psych' about this new information and if he knows nothing about it, look for a younger psych' and ask again.

Always remember Joel, regardless of what you think or feel about yourself, there is at least a part, if not all of you that is LOVEABLE.You can and are really loved by others.

This feeling of not being loveable comes from within your self, even if it seems to have been started by others in your younger years.

YOU CAN LOVE AND ARE LOVEABLE. You must also love and care for yourself.

Be sure to keep in contact here on this forum and tell us how you are doing. Even if it is from a distance there are many here that are concerned about you and your well being.

Use us as your friends, which we truly are and don't disappoint us by hurting yourself.

The recent condemnation delivered to Alzarkowy "or however the hell it is spelled" by his tribal family members due to his being involved in the terrorist explosions that killed so many in Jorden, also pointed to the religious nature of the terrorists.

The family plainly stated that he was no longer welcomed by his extended relatives.

Alzarkowy replied, by stating that they will have to answer to God for their condemnation of him and his actions.

This is a religious groups attack on what we call the western world.

Since I don't know of any religious war that saw a winner on either side, this one I am sure will be long and costly and destructive.

Since a religious terrorist can not be negotiated with or threatened into submission, I can see no other course but war and destruction and or bringing todays secular and democratic rules to those countries in which it seems possible.

Metatrons post is a pragmatic approach to dealing with this really evil situation. I agree with him.

"Should We Continue To Be What We Are?"

many persons seem to think that they should continue to be what they are, at least as far as religion is concerned.

they will tell you that their parents and grandparents belonged to a certain religion, and they see no reason for making a change....

in many of the ordinary matters of life we make changes.

I have been in constant change almost all of my life.

As I grow older I see things on a different perspective.

As I learn history and lots of other pieces of information I react to this and adapt to my new found knowledge.

As I experience things in life that I never thought would happen, I learn and adapt.

This is why it is so important that we do research and certify that what we are being told or taught is actually true and not just a belief.

I could not have survived leaving the wbts and their (beliefs not truths), that I was taught as a child If I did not make some large and some small adaptations.
