English elder logs in.

hi everyone.. my name is caspian, i am an elder in a congregation in england.. i have been reading this forum for about 12 months, never having the confidence to log in.. however after all the information that has come to light in the recent weeks, i feel that i need to start coming to terms with the crisis that i now feel.. i am a third gen jw, and been an elder for 15 years, my family whom i love dearly are all naive fully committed jw's.. please if any current or ex elders in a similar situation care to make any good advice.

Welcome Caspian.

Like you I also was an elder. I held this position for 5 yrs. then resigned due to the things I experienced. Drifted away slowly or at least tried to. Found out one of my daughters had been molested by an elder. You can imagine the resulting chaos. Due to this and my anger at the situation I was df'd. The advice you have read here about going slow-getting some counseling- seeking a support group are all very good suggestions.

As all of the advice you have already viewed here pretty well covers the situation I have nothing more to add. As you have read this will be a rough journey requiring well thought out decisions.

As time goes by if you feel safe doing so, revealing some of the reasons behind your crisis with the wbts will undoubtly be of great interest to others still in the org. that also have problems with the actions of the wbts.

We Disassociated Ourselves Tonite!!!

local elder called tonite, with a witness on the phone to ask if it is true we were smoking ?

we said yes, and we know who told on us.

it was a ms who was at the club just last week with another woman, not his wife of course, while she was at the meeting.

Live close to Boise Idaho. Right on the river close to the mountains. Lots of trees-creeks-good fishing- good elk and deer hunting got the darned place paid for. Married a good woman- never a jw- retired and having the time of my life. The camping opportunities are the best ever. Moved all over the western states think I will stay right here.

Do Jws help disfellowshipped ones or apostates?

do you think that, if say you fell over and and seriously injured yourself in the street, would a jw you knew passing by help you knowing that you were disfellowshipped or so called apostate.

maybe even come to see you at home if you were unwell or depressed,i mean how many witnesses have assisted or helped you when you needed it mostly,you see i thought they were supposed to encourage you to become so called spiritually stronger.but saying that when you were active as a jw do you think you were helped in times of distress or illness by your fellow jw,for instance i know a woman who's still a witness but hasnt been to meetings for say a year and thats because she has severe athritis and guess what only 1 j-dub has wrote to her so to her it seems like if your not a regular at meeting you may as well be classed as disfellowshipped.

Not only will they not help or assist a person df'd or da'd, they get some self satisfication out of not doing so. It makes them feel superior in doing this. When all the while it is a detestable thing to not offer assistance when it is needed and we notice the need. It is a violation of all christian teaching and the natural human reaction to some one in need.

What bothers me the most is that at one time when trapped in the borg I am afraid that I thought the same way as the people I am condemning

Does power corrupt?

most of the people i knew as witnesses were nice people with genuine motives.. in fact those with obvious personnallity flaws, would not , in my congregation anyway , be made servants or elders.. but i wonder did the postion attained in the org actually change the people who were chosen?.

does the extra respect , power and aurthority over others cause changes in a person makeup they can not help?.

I don't think that power in and of itself corrupts anyone. It has been my experience that if a person is in some way already corrupt then the power gives him the means to exercise this malignant personality to the extreme..

Should jws drive cars!!!

i was thinking about the time when i asked an elder about this because he said i had to give up smoking to become baptised,and i said that it doesnt specify in the bible that you cant smoke,he then said it defiles the flesh and that our bodies are a sacrifice to god i was puzzled because our flesh is already corrupted by sin,bacteria,pollution,etc.

he then said god will bring to ruin all those ruining the earth but think about it so does driving cars ruin the earth,he then said that gods will couldnt be accomplished worldwide without transport.but the disciples didnt use transport that polluted the earth and they managed ok,so im now thinkin how can a world wide preaching work be accomplished without ruining the earth today,well we have got the net,phones,mmm i let you all decide

LDS stands for latter day saints. Yes they are the Mormons. In the western US in the smaller towns their guys that are on a mission all ride bicycles-black pants-white shirt- tie. I think that in the large cities they use a car to keep from being run over.

I know some mormons and some "jack" mormons, they don't attend regularly. Some of them are very nice kind people.

They also have their rather unique demands. If their women fulfill all the demands, they must have the mental-physical-emotional strength of an elephant.

if one wanted to be creative in disassociating one's-self..just how would you love to do it?

i think it would be a riot to hire a few stripping telegram singers to sing my letter instead of having it read from the platform..

I knew a guy once who was a bit strange. He got df'd for something or other. He claimed he knew of some elders that poached deer etc. So he has this long flatbed trailer on which he erects a two sided sort of sandwich sign about 8 ft hi by 24 ft long with these elders names on it and his charges against them in very large letters. He would then pick out a KH and tow that thing close to one on every sunday for a while. It used to gather a small crowd of the neighbors. Some liked it and some expressed the thought that he was a nut.

If you don't mind being thought a nut that may be one way of expressing your discontent with the situation.

One might leave the names off and just paint a big picture of the international sign of discontent.

I think they should all use bicycles. The LDS do and they have @ 1100000 people in their borg.

Well Dinky, if it is any consolation I have the same dilema you spoke of. I notice that some gays/lesbians seem to be kind caring people. The kind of people that do not deserve the hate that is generated in some, from religion and public beliefs. Yet I believe that life style to be difficult to say the least and would not recommend it to my children as I would not recommend promiscuity. Yet I recognize that having some experience in these matters would help one to choose a mate intelligently.

I have been promiscous "just a little you understand" he he- and it did help me finally find the right kind of person to marry.

If anyone here comes up with a way to reconcile these issues Please! let us know.
