What triggered your awaking?

i was listening to a radio show about a jw women who had been disfellowshiped , her daughter cut off all contact ,must admit at the time i thought so what.. then this man phoned up and explained he was disfellowshiped for asking about jws being ngo in the united nations during 90s till early 2000s when a newspaper exposed them , i still thought he's a apostate but looked it up found the article then found this forum and even more info..

It started in 2004 when I was up at Bethel helping painting the interior of the old factory buildings. Walking around Brooklyn I couldn't understand why the wt. had so many buildings they were not using but to house bethelites to maintain the buildings. That really bother me alot! This reality lead me to look into other things because of the doubts this caused

That's an excellent point. Did the watchtower society morph into a corporation that seems more obsessed with real estate using religion as a front to achieve their aims. Is it the case that the love of riches (real estate) has been made the priority over everything. It baffles me why they have so much properties. Their latest ventures in New York's state will have many people wondering why? Why when Armageddon is so imminent. It doesn't make sense to the rank and file looking at things from a faith perspective!

Why the Oxygen Special will not work like we think it will...

within the very documentary is a reason i think that jw's for the most part will not wake up even if they watch this program.

the one lady actually saw as her family sat behind the abuser in court supporting him despite the established fact that he had abused their very own child.. this shows how deep the indoctrination is.

i am not saying that some won't wake up, but the majority will carry on, not even because they think these things are lies but because they will look past that at all costs to side with jehovah.

well that's my family dropped off at the assembly for their mind control charge up.

from what my 2 sisters (non witnesses) in ireland said about my mother (pioneer) after her assembly, was that she seemed to more fanatical and that they couldn't change the subject as obsessed with the end etc.. i hope their mind control coercive talks don't have too much impact on my family.

I think Google and YouTube are doing the work. This site for instance raises all sorts of topics about watchtower. I wouldn't protest myself, but up to the individual. I think peaceful protests with placards pointing people to jwfacts.com is no harm. People have phones and may sow the seed of curiosity bringing such to sites like this. Different folks different strokes

elders wont pray for someone?

a former member said that elders told a relative of his after she was dfed that they would not be praying for her.

is that some kind of policy, or were they just doing their own thing in that instance?

I remember being at an elders and ms meeting during the overseers visit. I will never forget when he said that we shouldn't pray for those who had stopped attending meetings. He said if they loved Jehovah, they would be here. That was most certainly one of my red flag moments 🙄

The smug arrogance of "having the truth".

has anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.

perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all,they will be destroyed right?.

I noticed this smug arrogant attitude about a year after I got baptized. The first time was when the press tried to interview 'a brother' coming out of bethel over the blood policy due to a death as a result of refusing to take blood. The ' brother' just smugly walked past them which I thought bizarre. Little did I know back then that organisation was an insular high control group.

The panorama program ' suffer the little children' showed that same smugness when a GB dismissed the panorama presenter in a matter of fact way.

Look at the smugness throughout the Australian royal commission. Uncaring delusional assholes.

Just read it. I managed to translate into English and got the gist of it. The Surgeon likened the woman's death to suicide. It's so tragic that people are losing their lives over the blood policy.
