Yes, we watched it also. Brought back 'overtone" memories. But it was still entertaining and funny.

" Reminds me of Oral Roberts telling his TV audience that he needed 8 million dollars or God would take him away."
Years ago, My family bought some Oral Roberts records, but the hole kept healing up and we could never listen to them.

Searching for Watchtower about working for / with disfellowshipped person
by confusedandalone inevening,.
i wanted to know if anyone knows which watchtower articles speak about working with or for a disfellowshipped person.
it would appear that there is now a huge witch hunt regarding this because of my recent situation.

Confused and alone, I'm sorry to hear your latest problems, but thankful that you keep us updated.
As noted before, I have seen this before, the elders get into this mind set of you will be ruled or we will ruin you. Rule or Ruin.
If the witchhunt is continueing and workers are leaving, personally I would immediately start searching for new employees. Again, sorry about your worries.

Serious question: Can a Jehovahs Witness join a democratic non-religious organisation? If it's not political, can they vote?
by The Quiet One ine.g a nonprofit organisation that helps people, that requires its members to vote.
is all voting evil and wrong, even if it's not a political party?.

Quiet one, I'm thinking off the top of my head Unions? I've never heard pubs getting into trouble for joining a union.

Letter to BOE re: baptism of my minor children
by Michelle365 inok i posted about a month ago asking for advice on writing a letter to my former congregation regarding my children.
my ex husband still goes to our old hall and although we have joint custody he is raising them to be good little jws on his time.
i understand that in your organization age is not a determining factor in whether or not a person can get baptized, however as the young people ask book points out:

Happy said, "I would perhaps word it that 'legally' they are not old enough and that you will seek legal advice should your children decide to go ahead."
I concur, unfortunately, threatening to seek legal advice is one thing most JW elders recognize. Perhaps you could infer that you have already consulted with legal advice and they suggested this simple letter.

A JW apologist writes about VAT 4956
by VM44 ina jw wrote the following in an attempt to discredit the evidence provided by vat 4956. comments on the author's logic would be appreciated.
does vat 4956 prove 587?.
many point to vat 4956 as proof that jerusalem was desolated in 587bce.

Mass Disfellowshippings of Inactive Ones
by bytheirworks inthe word out of bethel is of a mass purge the likes of the 1980's.. there's also possible public reproofs handed out for irregular ones.. .
the scriptures they are using to support this:.
the very ones keeping away from you will perish.

Perhaps rumors like this are subconscious threats to the active ones to maintain or increase their activity, and not even think of fading?

Newspaper Article: Press Telegram-JWS BRING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO LONG BEACH - (JW beliefs discussed including date setting)
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.presstelegram.com/social-affairs/20130829/jehovahs-witnesses-bring-millions-of-dollars-to-long-beach#comments.
go to the website to read the comments by xjws.. jehovahs witnesses bring millions of dollars to long beach.
jehovah's witnesses hold a series of regional conventions in long beach every summer, bringing some 150,000 witnesses from across the southland over the course of 15 weekends.

"Every year, 150,000 to 180,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses hold their conventions here, generating an estimated $64.5 million in economic impact, according to the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau."
$64.5 million divided by 180,000=$358 per person. Total BS.
$64.5 million divided by 150,000=$430 per person. Still more Total BS.

" They are fatigued. Disillusioned. Apathetic. "
And may I respectfully add,....
They are increasingly growing bitter that the taught expections have rendered nothing in the last 130 years, and they are less intolerant of ones that have doubts of the FDS leadership, and certainly the lack of any literal fulfillments of said prophecy or their continueance to following such non-sense certainly reflects poorly on their intellect.
Case in point: My mom baptised in 1934 at one of Rutherford's "Childrens" conventions, is sticking with the FDS no matter what, but she is bitter and hateful with a "True Christian" smile. And while not able to live in the same state, I still love her.
Endearing qualities.
