You were gracious, that speaks volumes about what a lovely person you are. You have to feel sorry for them, don't you? So many are probably trapped in.

I did it !!!!
by snare&racket in7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

Milking the convention cash cow for all it's worth - some questions
by Fernando inif memory serves there have been discussions about:.
pressure to donate to cover convention expenses far beyond actual expenses.
obtaining venue subsidies and or sponsorships but not passing on the savings to the flock.

sir82, while I agree with what you are saying, I know that while I was still going regularly (over 10 years ago), they were still asking for private homes for some conventions for those in need. And they were still selling parking tickets. I never bought one cause I thought it was garbage, and the facility used at that time had seating for 40,000, so it was so large it would not be possible for them to check for the parking tickets. What would they do about it anyway? I believe it was already in the contract that parking was paid included, cause if the venue knew they were collecting parking fees, they would want their cut!
But yes, they make business decisions the same as any other business, and there is nothing sinister about that.

JW parents are CRAZY
by Demokan inhello again, for those who don't know me i'm a 15 year old boy.
and recently my mom is displaying symptoms of demensia, she left the stove on today and she yells at us for watching commercials on t.v that are "demonic" because today there was a commercial on television for the new 300 movie and she started yelling at my sister to turn it off, and then i was listening to coldplay as a playlist while doing my school work and she started yelling at me to turn the demonic music off.
she says "demonic" this "demonic" that.

I'm so sorry you're going through this at your tender age.
Your Mom MAY be going through menopause, as jwdaughter suggested. It can make some women out of control.
Your only 15, please try to stay long enough to finish High School. But the throwing cell phones at each other scares me. If you can, keep out of their way as much as possible if you have no non-jw relatives that will allow you to live with them.Could you live with your Grandma for a while? At least no one would be throwing things at you! But the foul name calling needs to stop, my friend. Not many people want to deal with a teen who speaks like that. I realize it is your way of reacting to your circumstances, but you can find another way.
Throw yourself into your studies, find interests that keep you away from home as much as possible. When you're 16, hopefully you will be able to find part time work so you can save up for the day you can move out. Living on your own is expensive. You have rent, utilities, a vehicle to buy, car insurance, gas, any car repairs ,utilities, food, clothing, medical expenses, toiletries( soap, toothpaste, laundry soap) etc. You need an exit plan. Please direct some of your angry energy at figuring out how to accomplish this.In the meantime, please be safe.

How often do you see the Witnesses out on the ministry?
by rory-ks ini only ask because i hardly ever see them out on the ministry.
it is a very rare sighting to spot them actively engaged in the house to house ministry.
or out on the street work, in the marketplace, etc.. the other reason i ask is because they are constantly pictured as being on the preaching work.

Do Facebook "Friends" That Constantly Brag, Irritate You?
by minimus inthere are a few people who are fb friends that constantly brag about themselves, their looks, their accomplishments, their bodies, their job---etc.. one particular person is too close to ignore but it's never ending.
i am thisclose to telling her, to please stop it.. any thoughts?.

You can hide their posts or unfollow them. If it's someone you really don't care about, unfriend them. It's really quite simple, you don't have to see things you don't want to.

Argument with my Child "Why did I stay in the Organization so long?" Anger and Bitter Feelings.
by RottenRiley inlast night my third oldest child wanted to know why we stayed in the organization so long.
child is a third year college student enjoying all the classes this "wicked system" has to offer, the insatiable appetite for learning makes him want to argue and debate, i don't have the energy to debate because i don't feel good with all life has thrown our way.. .
"the only reason i went to meetings so long was because grandma and grandpa needed somebody to take them to meetings and cobe aunt and uncle and secretary aunt and uncle refused to talk to grandma for years, otherwise i would have stopped attending the kingdom hall because the kids were assholes and i was always the one who had to make "first contact", "i was the one who had to go around and meet and greet newbies while the regular jw wall-flowers (calebs) ignored all the visitors and new persons visiting our kingdom hall.

Tell them what you have written here. That you were thoroughly fooled, but we simply can't change the past. But now it is time to move forward, live your best lives.
I don't know your story, but have you found a church that you all feel comfortable going to? It can take a while to find one after being in the jw's, but there are many good churches with good paople in them.
