forgive me if i sound rude or this question has been answered elsewhere, as i am a neophyte and discovered your site through google in my religious studies.
from reading the various posts it seems that this site serves nothing more than an iconoclastic purpose.
was your experience as jw's so traumatic that now you can but put forth such effort to daemonize the religion?

i am wondering how those who believe jesus is the almighty lord god reconcile the following passages in chapter 1.
john 1:1 - ..."the word was god.
john 1:14 - "and the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus did not call himself equal to God here, the Jews did
This seems to me to be the case with a lot of scriptures. Who was actually doing the talking, or (I always hated this saying) In other words, why the term “accurate knowledge” is so important. Just because we read the verses does not mean we are really reading them, accurately. I think this is the biggest problem the senate/ Borg has when interpreting scriptures and then hypocritically telling everyone else to listen to them and the way they read. Each and every one of us are designed to do this for ourselves. They will not allow it even though the Bible puts it right smack in their faces that it is wrong to prevent us from digging for the truth.
Picking out the scriptures that are actually "inspired" is what I would like to accomplish. I doubt the Bible would be a very big book if we could just weed out the crap.

When I first logged on this site I thought some were being very petty and childish about their experiences as a jw and should just get on with their lives. After all that's what I was doing...right? By posting.
I stayed because some posters, actually many posters, saw through me and were nice to me anyway. Lol!
I soon discovered I had a lot in common with many posters here and found the forum to be very therapeutic, even though I wasn’t consciously looking for therapy. I can see things with bigger glasses now because of this site. I am thankful for that.

btw, welcome to the board.
in our congregation, we had a theocratic ministry school overseer make the sisters stand while giving their talks because he would counsel them on a point of counsel having to do with speaking to the "householder".
(i forget that exact point of counsel) so the sisters knew they had to follow this imbecile's quirks or get a "w".
another rule that was eventually abandoned too, was that only elders and ministerial servants could offer prayer at the kingdom hall......any rules that you had to deal with??
womens skirts must be no more then 1inch above the knee and absolutely NO leg crossing!
Men could drink themselves silly
with the thing that happened with kennedy today, it got me to thinking about how many people i know who are addicted to vicodin.
they always think it is no big deal, as it is not meth, or any other well known and notorious drugs.
plus, in their mind, they label what they take as okay as it is not listed as illegal and doctors do give out the prescription.
Me thinks there's a lot out there who are afraid to say they have a fondness for pain meds.
I think it is a very touchy subject. Maybe it isn't so much that some are as afraid to admit it to others but rather afraid to admit it to themselves. I can relate to that. I went through the trading off one for another. Then I became addicted to jogging.
Now my knees are f%#ked up.
as i am completing a paper for brci, i found something quite interesting.
the very first mention of the "catholic church" was made in the year 107, in st. ignatius letter to the smyrnaeans.
st. ignatius was bishop of antioch for forty-years, being appointed by the apostle peter.
Also, it is rather interesting that he uses the term "Catholic Church" in the same terminology.
My mom would sometimes refer to herself as a Catholic hehe , but for some reason it would fly right over most heads as though she was saying something offensive.

Thanks Amazing for the thread. I book marked it for later reading. I've always been fascinated with the Trinity Doctrine. What it REALLY is/was supposed to mean.

the government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an eagle to a condom because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance.
a condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed.
Sorry folks I tried and tried to get that little condom to stay in the thread but every time I hit the submit button it disappears.
My brother sent that to me this morning. Thought it was just too cute not to post. hehehe

Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that."
I have edited this post way too many times trying to get the picture to appear in it.
