Whats your fav song or band?

other than the kingdom songs i`m sure we must have squeezed in some time to listen to the radio between territories and on the way to the mettings.. my musical tastes vary from classical to heavy head banging music,basically i like everything!i love the cult,rush,van halen,boston,etc anything from the 80`s retro era.. but my favourite song would be everything counts by depech mode and she sells sanctuary by the cult!.

Anyone go to an Internatinal Convention????

i know i've posted about this in the past, but there are so many new people, and sooooo many lurkers i thought i'd bring it up again.

i went on 2 convetion tours and have to admit we had a wonderful time.

i also made some really good friends from all over that i haven't been able to keep in touch with.

The last one I remember I was pretty young 1970's ish.
It was either at the Forum or DogerStadium. We had three families from different parts of the states staying at our house and none spoke english. Breakfeast was fun! Ha ha ha.

Post your worst date story!

with all the nice guy/bad boy and do looks matter posts doing so well i thought it might be fun to do a worst date ever post.. so here goes mine: about 3 years ago my married friend had a neighbor she was good friends with he was a young widower with 2 kids and she thought we might like to get to know each other.

so we agreed to meet for dinner at his apt (he lived 2 apts down from my friend so it did not seem awkward or unsafe).

he cooked spaghetti and afterwards pulled out the old photo albums.

Education Survey

i am curious as to how many of you went on for further education and in what fields.

i will go ahead and list the ones i already know.. larc - advanced degrees in organizational psychology.

I started college at 42. I'm still there,in my mid 40's.
I'm taking everything I can get my hands on but just recently I decided to lean more towards finance. I for some reason get excited about anything to do with banking. Don't ask me why, It just clicks.

The Watchtower's Bible Scholars?

witnesses are often told that is is not necessary to look to outside sources such as bible encyclopedias and commentaries because the society's writing department already has these and presents us with the best comments from them for us anyway.

what i have noticed though, is that there are many comments from 19th century commentators and not much in the way of quotes from modern-day bible scholars and their works.. i understand that at the recent kingdom ministry school it was said that the society has the best bible scholars available for our instuction.

if that was said (can anyone confirm?

From what I can gather the only scholars were last seen in the early 1900's.

Are not all current scholars of the WTBTS JWs. and only JWs. Not trying to be negitive about it but there is a difference between the ones who were originally together and the ones who say they are scholars now. They have to be very limited on how they examine there research now.

Living forever or immortal ?

just a thought ... when describing jws and what they believe, be sure to tell people that they think they are immortal and will never die as this seems to sound a bit more 'looney tunes' than that they will live forever.. well, does to me anyway.

did you ever imagine how it sounded to joe public on the door while you showed them a crappy picture of 'paradise' from the livre forever book?

It seems you are 'active' I get the mortal, imortal theory but the latest thing I heard from an active witness was that at any time now (don't know exactly what that means) all of the apostates or at least oodles of apostates will suddenly wake up and smell the coffee about the true religion and be "beating at the doors" to get back in and will not be allowed.
Is that what you believe also?

ever since i've come to this board, you take every opportunity possible to imform everyone else how sad you are, do you ever give encouragement back to others, or have you always been like this, doing your best to stay as miserable as can be?.

you know theres lots of people here who would like to help you, given the chance, in fact i can't even be bothered to give you any encouragement this time, cos all you do every time you see someone in chat is tell them how lonely and sad you are.

I just want to say that logi is sad for the most part
But I disagree with some of the

Logi has said nice and thoughtful things to me

WT publications re Rutherford's imprisonment

could any one tell me which of the publications would have the account of rutherford's trial and subsequent jail time.

i have many of the older books, nothing since 1990 or thereabouts.

i want to show someone the vast difference in stories.
