What the new JW light position really is 👍

i’m still an elder and i consider myself jw light.

as my fellow elders are.

we don’t throw our weight around like elders used to in the past, it’s all very easy going these days.

My definition of light or heavy when it comes to your beliefs is how sure you are.

anyone who is absolutely sure they are correct in their beliefs about how the universe originated is in the heavy categor.

if you think I lean towards this belief system but are open to the possibility you may not be 100% correct then you are in the light category.

i think most JWs and in fact most people in religions and non religion beliefs systems are in the light category.

even the most ardent atheists have doubts that just maybe there was intelligent design involved somewhere along the line

It’s very easy to bash other belief systems. I could bash atheists all day long but then again they could bash those who believe in God.

Those who believe in the trinity get basked by those who think Jesus is Gods son and vice versa.

It’s just as easy to bash JWs as it is every other belief system.

I think k the best way is to decide for yourself if you think the universe had intelligent design or not. If not then be an evolutionist.

if you believe the universe and everything in was designed then you have to decide if that designer had anything to do with the Bible. Then you have to decide if Jesus was just an ordinary man or if he was Gods firstborn son, who he claimed to be.

Then you really have to be honest and say there are so many interpretations of the scriptures we just don’t know. We can do our best to try and guess but it is very presumptuous to say that I have the correct interpretation and others are wrong.

this is the way JW lite seems to be going. I love the sound of the promises in the Bible but let’s be honest nobody really has the entire truth about the scriptures.

Im staying physically in JWs and find it very interesting studying the Bible with the congregation every week. But always think we may not have the correct understanding of these scriptures.

Too many people like Lloyd Evans for example bash other people’s belief systems without saying this is the correct belief system that other people could bash.

Most religions and even non religious beliefs like evolution have 90%+ members in the lite category.

JWs used to have minority in the lite categories and majority heavily into it.

i suspect that was true with Catholics and every type of Protestant or other belief system in years gone by.

These days even Muslim and every other belief system including atheism most people are in the lite categories of their belief system.

there has been a big change in the JWs since Covid, and since the GB keep saying “we don’t know”

then the GB have stated they are not infallible.

this is basically admitting that what they currently believe may be wrong.

so really all JWs should be JW lite and say to themselves we may be right about this or that but in the other hand we may not have the correct understanding of it.

I myself am in this category. I’m pretty sure the GB are wrong about lots of things but I don’t have the presumption to say I have the correct understanding of it.

i have been away from the jw cult for many years.

i don't have any family i talk to that are in it.

so i don't know if the jws as a whole are seeing the cult fall apart or if they or the majority of them are head in the sand la la la the end is neigh.

This weeks mid week meeting was crazy

they played the clip David Splain saying would Jehovah let the GB take the vaccine if it was harmful

then straight after in the book study they talked about circumcising and saying this medical procedure was a matter of choice

have an old JW pimo acquaintance I speak with weekly. He has been open about his doubts and criticisms of the governing body and false prophecies with over a dozen elders privately over the last 3 years. Privately they AGREED with him and never turned him in!!!! He has also dated a dozen single sisters he confided his doubts with...and they agreed with him!! Go figure...no one has reported him! That would be different 20 years ago

This is most JWs these days. They are openly expressing doubts about the vaccine and saying maybe the GB gave wrong direction.

it funny because everytime a WTower or meeting part comes up they always bring up how the COVID directive protecting us

i know most people here are totally out and that’s fine.. many these days are staying physically in for the social life and that is also fine.. i feel being fully mentally in is dangerous as it could be such a shock mentally if or should i say when the tower collapsed.. im sitting in the fence like so many others here.

mentally agnostic if god exists or not and if the bible is his word.. when i talk to people who are physically and mentally still in i can tell that they so need it to be true.

i’m worried for them when they wake up to the fact that they have been lied to 1914 wasn’t true 1975 wasn’t true 1999 wasn’t true and now here we are 2025 it’s all not true.

The only truly happy still in JWs I know are what a friend and I call "Jet Set" witnesses.

They several things in common:

#1 They have plenty of money. They inherited it or ignored the endless counsel to "put Kingdom interests first" during their earning years.

#2 They are fun-loving. No Debbie Downers allowed.

#3 They ONLY travel, party, and closely associate with people who keep their MOUTHS SHUT about "questionable conduct" within the group.

#4 They are in reasonably good or better health.

Yes all those things are to be encouraged with JWlite!

there is a 90 days sanction (rest basically) if you are caught celebrating birthdays or something and you are not repentant. If you say sorry and you agree with the GB nothing will happen.

if you say you don’t quite agree with the GB on this and you are not sorry then the 90 things comes into play.

what this means is there will be an announcement that so and so is no longer a JW. 90 days later the elders are told to grovel and beg the person to agree to return to the congregation. The CO has to tell the elders off and ask why enough wasn’t done to get them to return with the 90 rule.

my oh my how things have changed

It’s a social club at this point and for the older Witnesses there just coasting, that’s fine for them.

It’s a social club for everyone these days. The young ones only stay for the friends in the cong.

we are all just coasting even the elders it’s easy being JWlite! You could turn upto any meeting and give any part with zero preparation. It’s all just videos and q&a!

its been compared to being a Trekkie or similar

you may not like Star Trek anymore but still go to events to see the people you have known for years.

you know Star Trek is fictional but its nice fictional and maybe some tiny parts may have a even tinier slithering of a resemblance of truth in the future

i really like the red pill analogy in the matrix.

the one guy wishes he didn’t take the red pill and would have preferred to take the blue pill.. many used to be pimi which is the blue pill and then they wake up to the fact that the gb are not who they claim to be which is taking the red pill.. they go through conflict and confusion as to what to believe now?

JWLite is like Cypher from the Matrix movies, you’ve been red pilled but you want to be reintegrated into the Matrix as a rich and famous character, if they could only see what you believe is correct. In the end you’re just the annoying side character that ends up dead and forgotten.

What if cypher could take the blue pill and be aware that the red pill exists? This is the purple pill.

What this means is you wake up to the fact that JWs are just a human run organisation. The GB are just fat old men who have inherited some crazy teachings that they are going to find it very difficult to get out of.

but you quite like the Bible and the friends in the gong.

why not stay physically in JWlite. Only go occasionally if or when you feel like it. If you celebrate birthdays or do anything that used to get you into trouble just keep a low profile.

the worst that could ever happen is a 90 day sanction but during those 90 days the elders have to grovel to get you to return. The CO has to ask why wasn’t more done to get this one to return with the new 90 day rule?
